Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just back from a 2 night stay in Rafters. Where do I start, we had a ball. Myself and 33 ladies stayed here and it was fantastic from start to finish. The owner Gerry is a very friendly man and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and he was always present if we needed anything. Food from the breakfast to the evening meal was fabulous, We got a great choice of food for breakfast from cereal, warm scones with fresh cream and jam to a full Irish, it was so tasty. The location is excellent so central and within walking distance for all tourist attractions. The Accommodation is so clean actually spotless and bed s were comfy. I would definitely stay here again when I go back to Kilkenny as would the rest of the girls that stayed with us. Thanks to Gerry and staff for giving us a weekend that we will never forget xxx

Great location. Service by all staff was excellent. Had 9 rooms booked for my brother's stag party and booked a meal for 25 of us. We were given our own area out the back and the food was delicious. Breakfast was tasty and large portions for those of us that were feeling up to it.

Little disappointed. Room ok, bathroom needs major improvement. Only 2 sockets in room and not good with an iPhone, iPad, laptop and another phone. I have booked bed and breakfast but can’t have breakfast as it’s not served until 9am even though it says 8am in the room notice. No parking at the location.

Stayed in Rafter's on Saturday. First of all the location couldn't be more central so top marks there. The room itself while basic was clean. The bed was comfortable. The 1st problem was the noise. The pub next door played live music till 1.00am. The windows offered no reduction to the noise. Double or triple glazing is really required in such a location. There is a damp smell in the bathroom, cracked tiling, wonky toilet and worst of all the shower didn't work. Breakfast was of a good standard. At a cost of €200 for the night I felt ripped off.
There is potential but new windows and a bathroom upgrade essential if you're going to charge these prices.

Our family party of four stayed in Rafter Dempsey's for two nights. We were very impressed with the serious efforts being made by management in meeting Covid-19 challenges. The staff were very friendly and quietly efficient; food was top quality and bedrooms were spacious and very clean. Location was excellent, in the heart of Kilkenny's night life and beside many of its historic gems. Highly recommended.

Stayed here last night with friends. Received a very warm welcome! All staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. Twin room was small and dated but didn’t bother us as we just needed somewhere to throw the head after drinks. Rooms coule really do with black out blinds or curtains.
We were late down for breakfast but the girl obliged us with possibly the nicest breakfast I've ever received in a hotel/b&b.
Would definitely stay here again. nothing fancy but comfy clean beds, amazing hospitality and best breakfast ever.
Great value for money also

Spent three days in Kilkenny sightseeing and golf. Went to Rafters for lunch on the first day and returned for dinner every night. Great food especially the steak on the hot stone. Staff very friendly and attentive in these difficult times. Looking forward to a return visit. Will recommend Rafters to our friends.

Stayed here for 4 nights over valentine's weekend with my partner. Rooms are basic but clean. The staff are fantastic, couldn't do enough for you. Food was good too and the location is excellent. A few minutes to most attractions. Would definitely come back again!

not good. there was no hot water and no coffee.
