Just back from a 2 night stay in Rafters. Where do I start, we had a ball. Myself and 33 ladies stayed here and it was fantastic from start to finish. The owner Gerry is a very friendly man and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and he was always present if we needed anything. Food from the breakfast to the evening meal was fabulous, We got a great choice of food for breakfast from cereal, warm scones with fresh cream and jam to a full Irish, it was so tasty. The location is excellent so central and within walking distance for all tourist attractions. The Accommodation is so clean actually spotless and bed s were comfy. I would definitely stay here again when I go back to Kilkenny as would the rest of the girls that stayed with us. Thanks to Gerry and staff for giving us a weekend that we will never forget xxx…
Stayed in Rafter's on Saturday. First of all the location couldn't be more central so top marks there. The room itself while basic was clean. The bed was comfortable. The 1st problem was the noise. The pub next door played live music till 1.00am. The windows offered no reduction to the noise. Double or triple glazing is really required in such a location. There is a damp smell in the bathroom, cracked tiling, wonky toilet and worst of all the shower didn't work. Breakfast was of a good standard. At a cost of €200 for the night I felt ripped off. There is potential but new windows and a bathroom upgrade essential if you're going to charge these prices.
Little disappointed. Room ok, bathroom needs major improvement. Only 2 sockets in room and not good with an iPhone, iPad, laptop and another phone. I have booked bed and breakfast but can’t have breakfast as it’s not served until 9am even though it says 8am in the room notice. No parking at the location.
Lovely host…. Gerry made us feel welcome and accommodated our every need as a large group. The bedrooms are clean and comfy and the bar area has lovely food as well as being a focal point for us to enjoy our stay. The place is situated right in the heart of Kilkenny. Great value for money.
Friendly staff, very good food,we enjoyed a rugby match saturday. We had steak on stone chicken wings and burger. We were very impressed with the serious efforts being made by management in meeting Covid-19 challenges. Looking forward to a return visit. Will recommend Rafters to our friends.
We went to Rafters gastro pub this evening for dinner with few friends. It was a great night. We where impresed with tasty food and hospitality in this difficult times. We definitely be back there more often
Went for food this evening, menu looked good but my god food was disgusting, why are these people doing food if they cannot produce the goods, I invite them down to Mullingar any day and we will show them how to make Chicken Curry & an appetising Chicken Burger. First time to visit Kilkenny very hard to get the standard of food we are used to, probably won't be back.
Spent three days in Kilkenny sightseeing and golf. Went to Rafters for lunch on the first day and returned for dinner every night. Great food especially the steak on the hot stone. Staff very friendly and attentive in these difficult times. Looking forward to a return visit. Will recommend Rafters to our friends. Sandra and Maeve
