A modern four star addition to the vibrant and historical town of Tralee, this contemporary hotel is proving a popular place for lunch, dinner, drinks or roasted fresh coffee. A bustling hub, popular with neighbours and visitors, we love our location tucked away behind the main shopping street in the centre of town. Our speciality gastro bar and restaurant menu is full of food sourced from local producers. Lunch happens from 12pm to 4pm and dinner from 4pm to 9pm. We're serious about providing the finest quality ingredients and a changing menu to fill happy appetites (even little ones with our children's menu). Soak up the atmosphere of our buzzing bar with smooth wines, craft beers, and a great line in cool cocktails. Meet friends, chill out after a busy day, enjoy a fun evening - our bar staff can mix things up for you. At The Ashe Hotel, we get excited about top class comfort and our ability to provide luxury accommodation in the heart of Kerry's capital. Even better, we are a stroll away from shops, restaurants, businesses and other fun things like swimming and the movies.

I would not recommend to stay in this hotel. There are too many bad’s that out weigh the good and it all stared at check in. Staying Saturday and Sunday, we booked in dinner for a group of 12. They told some of us that dinner was booked for that night and some that it was the following night. Some were told we could drink at the bar beforehand and some were told no it wasn’t allowed due to a leak in one of the rooms. We went down to have a drink an hour before dinner and were told our reservations were all cancelled because of the leak and it was for residents only. After explaining that we were in fact residents we were then given our table and told we could stay there for the night and for the dinner also. While sitting at the table we got a call from the hotel to say dinner would have to be pushed from 8 to half 8 because of a leak and our table was wet and would have to be cleaned…. We were already sitting at it an it was not wet! No one actually came to us to order food and after calling a few staff members ourselves we eventually got served at 9.45, an hour and 15 minutes after we were due to eat. The overall service is the worst part. A lot of very young seemingly untrained staff that fall over each other. It was a feast or a famine, we waited for hours to get service or 3 would come at once. However they were all pleasant I would probably put it down to lack of training or bad management. Some of our group paid for their drinks as they got them but these were never cleared from the bill and at the end all the drinks we had got including the ones that had already been paid were all recharged to the one room! A manager had to be called by a waitress to try fix the matter and in the end a refund had to be issued. Breakfast was no better. Arriving at 9.20 we were seated, nobody came to take our order until 9.45 and again the food didn’t arrive until 10.15! Almost an hour wait for breakfast? We were travelling with our 5 month old for the first time also so obviously we had timed meals etc down to her feeds to suit us and these were never matched to times we had booked food for because the service was so slow. We had booked afternoon tea the morning after we arrived as a surprise baby shower for one of our friends as we couldn’t have a real gathering with COVID. That night we decided to double check it was ok to go ahead in the morning and we were told they had no record of the booking. After showing them email proof they apologised but still said they had no staff to let us go ahead, with a 5 person afternoon tea so it had to be cancelled. One of our group then over heard the receptionist saying it was our fault we gave the wrong dates when booking, even though the correct date was on the confirmation email. We decided to eat in the hotel again the second night purely because we couldn’t find outdoor dining to suit our group size and in fairness the food was lovely. I asked for a glass of wine and the waitress came back 5 minutes later with a wine menu and asked me to pick one so I did. 5 minutes later she returned and asked if I wanted a bottle or glass and I again specified a glass and she left. A boy came by a while later with a bottle of wine for me. I told him I only ordered a glass not a bottle and he apologised and handed me the empty wine glass and walked away. He returned a few minutes later to clarify if I actually wanted wine in the glass or not? We finished dinner and had a few drinks, unknowing of the time a tall man who looked like the manager approached us in a very rude manner and shouted across the restaurant at us that we had to leave immediately as we were well past closing time. We had not been warned that we had to leave at any stage. I found him extremely abrupt especially as we had children at our table. As we moved to the lobby to head to our rooms, one of the gang headed to the bathroom so we all waited and within a minute he again came over and told us not to sit there and leave like we were told. As a group of 30+ year old adults, I found the way we were spoke to us completely belittling and unacceptable. Such a pity as the hotel decor is lovely and seemed so inviting on arrival but unfortunately our two night stay was just disaster after disaster and certainly put a dampener on our first get away with our family and little girl. None of our group of 12 said they would return.

Terrible service both nights we stayed, got overcharged €70 for drinks we already paid for and got awful abuse from a barman for sitting in the lobby finishing our drinks. Would not recommend this hotel at all very overpriced and the worst parking I’ve ever witnessed for a hotel

Children’s menu very limited, we ate breakfast lunch and dinner in the hotel over the few days we visited and the kids were very limited with lunch and dinner menu being the same. Noisy at night time with banging doors and bottles being emptied and dogs barking.
