The place was very nice. Had a lot of steps up to the kitchen living area, then more steps up to the bedrooms. It was above the pub in back. The people got loud when they came out and stood on the streets smoking or talking. Couldn't hear anyone in the pub or the music.
I've just spent a week here during the Rose of Tralee festival (my daughter was the German Rose) and if I ever go back it will definitely be here again. Customer service comes easy to these guys as they are just genuine nice people and my my stay very memorable. The location is great , Bed and Breakfast is great and the pub is simply put a proper pub . I can't recommend it enough.
Visited on a Tuesday night. Absolutely enjoyed my night. Bar was a bit crowded, but that was to be expected, given the entertainment Bar is traditional, simple decor which I liked. The music was sublime, mostly trad, folk but excellent. I understand on Wednesday's the same group are in the Brogue Inn, also in Tralee - so perhaps another review tomorrow because I want to see that 'act' again. Group were all part of Siamsa Tíre, the National Folk Theatre of Ireland which is based in Tralee. Just to add, apart from that magnificent music, I'd go back to the pub anyhow.
For a room above a pub it was very basic, with earplugs in a person can sleep. I dropped something under the bed and when trying to retrieve it, left it because under the bed was disgusting. Hopefully they work on that. Besides that the staff were very nice and breakfast was fine. The musicians never showed but Tralee has plenty of other pubs for entertainment. This is an okay place to stay but don't forget, it is over a pub, so it's not Ashford Castle
Visited here for a few drinks , fabulous atmosphere very friendly and an owner who made you feel so welcome . A great night was had with excellent music, I didn't know they had accommodation and would definitely stay the next time I visit Tralee .
Fun and comfortable 2 day stay while using Tralee as touring base for counties Kerry and Clare. Rooms were literally above the pub and great local music provided authenticity to our families experience.
I stayed in Sean Ogs over the weekend with my partner when we had a wedding on in Tralee. We just needed it as a base and it was perfectly located and clean, the staff were also super friendly. The room was a bit on the small side (as is very fairly reflected in the price) but as I said it was clean and had everything we needed. We weren't very hungry the next morning but did avail of the lovely chocolate pastries which were available. The staff were very friendly and more than happy to help you with anything which they could. We had left our car at the wedding venue the day before and the owner who happened to be passing kindly dropped us back to pick up our car. If I were passing through again, I would definitely pick Sean Og's again. Two happy customers!
I chose to stay here for the advertised traditional Irish music - didn't get any No live music after 7.30pm on a FRIDAY????? Our room was scruffy and dirty, Music was so loud it kept me awake (so did the hand dryers in the loos downstairs) and in the morning no english speaking staff were there to complain to. Loo paper dispenser jammed, shower was dirty especially in side rails (room 1)
When you are looking for a central located bed to sleep you are right her. Almost no daylight in the room and simple furnishing. A Pub with daily live music is in the house but we have sleped well. Very simple breakfast, only the Irish.
My family recently stayed at Sean Og's and we loved it. The bar manager was so helpful and couldn't have done anything more for us. Our rooms were spacious and particularly clean and tidy. We loved being able to pop down to the pub below for some music. Didn't notice any noise. Breakfast was fine and parking wasn't an issue as we arrived after the restricted hours. Would definitely recommend.
