Daragh runs a most gorgeous guest house in Tralee. The setting on the water is just stunning and every detail of the historic home and grounds are perfection; perfection but never stuffy. And how could it be stuffy with two fun loving little dogs running around to add to the happiness you feel while visiting? Hmmm. Did I mention the breakfast yet? Full stop! This is a seriously filling and delicious homemade meal to start your day at Barrow House! I had the vegetarian plate all three mornings despite everything sounding so good. I was hooked after day one and I never even got a picture as I immediately started to eat as soon as the plate was put in from of me! Lots to do in the area and about 25 minutes to Dingle if I remember right. Five minute walk to the Tralee Golf Club for a great view and dinner. Great view is an understatement fyi. There is also an awesome beach there. And then there is Daragh. This woman is so fun and funny and just a great person to chat with while hanging out. She is also an amazing help with anything you think you need and things you may not even know you need. She drew us maps, she set us up with a local historian to track down relatives, she gave us restaurant suggestions in London as we were leaving! So yes, five stars for Barrow House most definitely!…
Absolutely magic place. Stunning. The bedrooms are really carefully designed with incredible attention to detail. Little small things that make it so full of character. The views are spectacular. The breakfast is literally the best breakfast I have ever had! What a venue. The host ‘Lady Barrow’ Darragh is wonderful, friendly, warm and makes it special for each of her guests!
Fabulous stay, everything is top rated, owner is super friendly and extremely helpful, the moment you arrive you feel at home. Property is extremely nice and very well taken care, you can just seat next to water for hours or go for a walk. Highly recommended place. And of course if you are a dog lover , there is the huge bear size absolutely mild and gentle dog. An awesome place.
You feel at home in a luxury mansion by the ocean. Tranquility, it’s a home away from home. The hostess is kind, relaxed, knowledgeable of the area, the staff is super friendly and kind, we loved the breakfast, freshly made every day and our communal breakfast with the other guests, so many great people to meet. The study and the salon are available for your use. Each room Has its own flair, beautifully decorated. The cleanliness is perfect! The sea view is the highlight of your wake up. The peninsula to walk around and the Barrow beach as the Tralee golf club are absolutely stunning! A perfect place to slow down, enjoy life and recharge batteries. Small tip, we would recommend for those light sleepers to take a pair of earplugs as it’s an old house. Overall a magical experience that we wish to reiterate in the future!…
What a gem! Booked a two night getaway for my parents in Barrow House as a surprise for a birthday celebration. The welcome from Darragh and staff was outstanding. Birthday card, chocolates and thoughtful messages were left for my mother. The tranquillity of the location is wonderful, with plenty perches to just sit and enjoy the view. This oasis is easily reached from many restaurants, beaches and local attractions. The property is beautiful and proudly kept. The breakfast tasty and fresh. The perfect place to stop and rest awhile. We are hoping to make it an annual trip. Thanks to Darragh and Staff for your hospitality and special hello to the little white dog. John, Eileen and Maggie
My wife and I recently completed an amazing 3 week golfing and sightseeing trip to Ireland and our two nites at Barrow House were certainly one of the highlights! The Georgian mansion has so much history and is right on the water with amazing views. Our room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Breakfast was superb with homemade rhubarb and honey made from hives on site. Our host and owner, Daragh made us feel most welcome the moment we arrived!
Tucked away in Tralee, Barrow House will take you back in time to a simpler era. The stately home has been completely renovated yet maintained its charm and sense of historic importance -- it's gorgeous inside and out. Wake up to a homemade breakfast, relax in front of the fireplace or take a walk through the garden or along the bay and feel refreshed and energized. Incredible hospitality, beautiful setting, and warm welcome -- should not be missed and perfect if you're visiting Dingle / Ring of Kerry!
Had the pleasure of meeting DM over some delightful and creative cocktails. Fast friends from the get go as our conversation was effortless and two way. Look forward to our next engagement and may it come sooner than later. God bless from John and Anut in the Kingdom of Wonder.
beautiful venue for a wedding with breathtaking views. I found the staff very welcoming and the location was perfect for wedding photography.moments in time captured forever with my dear friend Edwina
What an utterly stunning, majestic, treasure of a place to stay. The views are stunning, the house itself is literally magnificent. Each room different, ours had the most stunning views in the morning. The breakfast is out of this world, Guinness bread and rhubarb deserve a special mention. Everything in the house is full of character, really tasteful and full of treasure. Steeped in stories and simply put, a place to leave your troubles behind, breathe and enjoy. Darragh the owner, is exceptional, warm, funny, welcoming and a special lady! 6 stars if we could!!
