The Grand Hotel garners praise for its spotless, modern rooms and pristine facilities, with guests consistently noting the high level of cleanliness. The friendly and helpful staff contribute to the hotel's lively and inviting atmosphere, although there might be occasional noise disruptions. While the value is appreciated by some, others are put off by inconsistent room pricing and service charges. Amenities generally receive compliments, especially the dining experience, though some minor issues are noted. Overall, the comfortable rooms, particularly the updated bathrooms, are a highlight for many travelers.

Lovely hotel in the centre of Tralee. All of the staff were very helpful, with any questions that we had about getting around Tralee and the area. The rooms were spotless and had a lovely meal in the bar restaurant. The hotel was very comfortable and would definitely recommend, for a business trip.

We stayed at this hotel for New Years Eve 2019. WE enjoyed our stay, the room was comfortable and clean and the staff were pleasant. The breakfast was delicious - the best I've had in ages! As it was New Years Eve we were provided with free parking throughout the town in a local carpark. I'm not sure if you would normally have to pay for parking.
However on this particular night, there was a nightclub on downstairs in the hotel with loud music playing until 2.30am followed by crowd noise for a period later which meant sleep disruption until it was all over.
There is no lift available in the hotel and depending on where your room is there can be a few different sets of stairs.

Hi PetrinaMcArdle, Thank you for choosing to spend your New Year’s Eve with us. We always find we have a great atmosphere for all people to enjoy in a safe environment. You certainly need a tasty wholesome breakfast to kick off your new year, especially after a heavy night beforehand. The parking we have is free, we just require a €30 deposit for a parking permit, which is refunded once the permit is returned to us. The club was open for New Year’s Eve so everyone can enjoy a bit of extra entertainment and fun during their stay we do not have it on during regular times of the year. There is nothing we will not do for our guests and as we unfortunately do not have a lift due to the age and structure of the building. We do take all bags to your room and help in any other way that we can. Thank you and see you again. Matt

We have stayed in the Grand hotel many times and as always, we got a great welcome from Dick the owner and Eileen the manager. All staff are friendly, polite, and helpful. The room was lovely with a very large comfy bed and was spotless as was the bathroom. Friendly lady was giving it the final check, as we arrived early, and we enjoyed a lovely chat with her also. We dined there each evening as well as a light midday snack and the food was as expected, a good variety, tasty and piping hot all delivered with a smile. The hotel issues a parking permit for a nearby carpark for which you pay at check in and is refunded at check out, so parking is free, secure, and close to the hotel. COVID safeguards in place and strictly followed. My favourite town is Tralee, and my favourite hotel is the Grand. Overall a great place to stay and we will be back; I can recommend The Grand wholeheartedly!

Im a local and I wanted to book a hotel in tralee for a Saturday night to relax after a long stretch working all year and from the Photos the place looked nice. I put in the filter on booking.com a room with a bath and it was the first place to come up so I decided to avail of it. As soon as I checked in and paid the lady said "breakfast has to be booked and is only available for you at 7.30am and 10.30 am. Uh OK I guess. Went into my room and for €95 I got a room smaller than a prison cell, a view of a dirty wall and some moss, a broken TV with no signal, no kettle to make tea, a bathroom you had to crawl into and guess what, NO BATH. I went to the window to cry and get fresh air only to be greeted with a sign warning me not to open or touch the windows due to covid. It was hot and humid that day. I don't ask for much in life but damn. A hostel would've been better. I took a deep breath and went downstairs and asked if I could have a room with a bath to drown my sorrows and id get over the rest because that's what I booked for and their response was I never specified and nothing else left even though I clicked bath in my booking. Admitting I was defeated and they had won I got up and left and booked the Brandon down the street for the EXACT same price complete with a spacious room, double bed, a working TV (Shocking), a nice view, normal breakfast times and complementary pool and gym. Lovely place. Highly recommend. And congrats to the Grand for getting free non refundable money. They will probably respond saying I'm lying and try to take this down but here are some images attached to determine for yourself. Have a good day everyone.

Hi 444jason4, Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on your stay, we understand that during these difficult times things can be more stressful with us all working all year. Due to Covid-19 regulations we have a capacity limit for guests, which is why we require a breakfast time for our guests so that not all are down for breakfast at one time. There was also not a bath requested through booking.com. Unfortunately, even though one of our qualities is being situated in the heart of Tralee this can also hinder the view from your window and as it is a shared area the mossy roof does not belong to us and that does mean we have no control over its contents. All non-essential items are removed from rooms and this includes hot drink making facilities, cushions and throws. This does not mean you cannot be provided with them and as you are checking in you are informed of this. All facilities in the rooms are check before our guests check in and the TV was working at that time, pressing one of the button can switch the signal and such not bring up a picture (shown by your photo) but this can very easily resolved by a call to reception. We know that there is no such sign in any of our rooms telling our guests not to open their windows. The only letter in the room is welcoming all our guests back during the Covid-19 pandemic and if there is anything you need during your stay to make it better to ring down to reception. We would never take a review down as the response can show other guests more to the story. We never want anyone to leave unhappy and certainly not to have to stay in another hotel. We assure you there is always a member of management on hand to resolve any issues and we are more than happy to do so in a heartbeat. Thank you. Matt

We were in Tralee for a day trip and decided to have lunch outside the hotel. After asking 3 times one of the servers finally cleaned our table (this should not be such an effort given the times we live in).

I ordered the chicken quesadillas and my wife ordered a chicken ciabatta with special request for dairy free.

When we ordered the waitress brought us the bill and told us that the policy was to pay before receiving food and drinks, which we did, it transpires that this was not the policy and in fact that none of the other tables were asked to pay up front, they must have thought that us and our baby were going to do a runner.

15 minutes after ordering and us paying the waitress returned to advise that the ciabatta was not dairy free and we requested another type of bread that was. Approximately 15 later our food arrived, surprisingly the dairy free sandwich was served with cheese in it.... This was returned to the server and a new sandwich presented 10 minutes later without cheese. Our overall experience or the food and the service was very disappointing and we would not return in the future.

Hi George, We are sorry to hear of your recent experience. We pride ourselves on first-class service and we were disappointed to read that this is not what you seemed to be privy to. It is generally accepted that this is quite a challenging time in the hospitality sector. We have found that, in general, people have been understanding and patient with our staff. If you read over our recent reviews, you will see that our food and service have been consistently praised. This being said, we are aware that there are issues that we must continue to iron out on a daily basis. We are receptive to all your comments, although we feel that some may have been somewhat unnecessary, and we thank you for your feedback. Best wishes, Kelsey, Guest Services

It was a five-star experience. From arrival we were greeted by a bubbly and helpful receptionist, she efficiently checked us in and answered all my questions about the town of Tralee. My husband and I relaxed in the Pikeman Bar on our first night. I asked my waitress for vegetarian options which she listed out fluently. I had the rigatoni pasta and my husband the baked salmon, highly recommend! Throughout our stay, we were greeted by the management regularly. It is very refreshing to find management who were both friendly, professional and helpful 100% of the time.

Hi AnnabR4014YJ, Our team are second to none and it always makes things so much easier for you when they know what they are talking about. From the moment you check in to sitting down for a spot of dinner. As you can tell it is not just one or two people greeting you but it is all of us. There is not one person from management or from any other deportment that will not make you feel like you are in a home away from home. Some people can find it difficult to eat out if they have an allergen or even being a vegetarian these days but we make sure there is plenty to offer whatever you fancy. Thank you and see you again. Location of the hotel is perfect, everything in Tralee no more than a 15 minute walk and neighbouring Towns like Dingle and Killarney just a 30-45 minute drive. The Hotel itself was more than we expected. The perfect mix between traditional and modern. As guests we felt cosy and at home. The food in the hotel was the best I've experienced in a long time, not only is there a wide variety of choice for different palette's and dietary needs, but every single meal I had was delicious with accurate portion sizes, very well well seasoned food and quick service also. Staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much hassle. The room we stayed in was spacious, with a big bed, plenty of wardrobe space and a top class bathroom. The only negative is there is little parking in the immediate area surrounding the hotel, however there is a car park just around the corner where we received a pass from the hotel for free parking for the duration of our visit, don't let this put you off though. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, will definitely be visiting again!

During a recent visit to the hatch where I ordered a latte and a pikeman ciabatta I was served by a lovely young lady called Neasa who informed me that I could indeed come inside from the rain and wait. As I proceeded to pay Neasa offered me a selection of takeaway desserts which were available from which I ordered a chocolate brownie. Both the ciabatta, latte and brownie were amazing best I have had in a very long time. I want to say thank you to Neasa for your kindness, professionalism and excellent customer service nothing was to much trouble. I most certainly will be back well done.

The stay started badly, when we discovered the ‘free on-street parking’ was 300m away down a lane to a busy full public car park! They then demanded a €30 cash or credit card deposit to get a guest parking permit.

Their set down area outside is invariably filled with other parked non guest vehicles (and they don’t monitor this at reception).

We booked a family room for two adults and two children and we got a shoebox with no a/c! 8” between beds at one point! Shower tray so small I had to shower sideways then turn around and shower the other side of me! The toilet door half opens and hits the knee of someone sitting on the toilet! Ouch! I grazed my leg on their crappy metal camp bed going to the toilet in the middle of the night!

Not that it mattered but the view was bloody awful, but what drove us crazy was the three noisy industrial extraction fans outside were going and only two turn off at about 23:30 peppered with sounds of drunk yahoos roaring from the street outside! (Shrieking seagulls every day at 6ish in the morning and church bells at 8:20am). Duvets were so high tog rated and would give you heatstroke! Tiny dreary brown and cream room was NOT as shown on their websites or listings beware!!! 0/5

Food and breakfasts great 4/5, staff very nice and helpful as much as they could (as they had no other room available). No elevator just steep steps! So bad we cut our stay short by one day and no refund (for that day so far)!

What annoyed me was when I discussed it with reception when checking out, they tried to pass it off as a computer error for just two not a family - but the additional camp bed was already in the room when we checked in and we had a booking well in advance clearly stating two adults two children family room!
