Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic Hotel, a classic example of true Irish hospitality. Staff and Management could not have been more helpful over a very busy weekend. Food top class. Atmosphere was electric in bar for Ireland Rugby game. We’ll be back! 10/10

We had 6 days here and it was amazing. The room was very good. Bed comfortable. Bathroom great, the shower was very good. It could have done with a bit more storage as we were there for a long time. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of choices. We ate here in the evening a few times with relatives and the food was delicious. The bar and coffee shop was very busy but always fitted us in. It’s right in the middle of Tralee near the shops. We had a parking permit which we paid 30 euros which was reimbursed when we left. That permit covered 5+ car parks. The building though old was beautiful and we will certainly think about staying here again.

The most comfortable and homely hotel I ever stayed in. The owner and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful so we had all our evening meals there. We didn't want to leave so changed our holiday plans and stayed an extra 3 nights when we were lucky enough to get cancellations. We will definitely book this hotel again. Annie and Dinny

A great disappointment. Started almost immediately when we discovered no lifts at all to second floor room we had. We arrived minutes before a group of elderly tourists checked in, and don't know how they made it up the warren of stairs with their luggage as we barely did. We were happy to discover we had a walk-in shower in our room but bathroom was very "compact". The room itself was also "compact" and too small really for two people to spend much time there. Room had no aircon and very noisy outside in courtyard, and extractors for ground floor running all the time. Bed was comfortable but sleep broken at 1:45am when fire alarm went off, my eldest daughter went to investigate and hotel staff were manually stopping the alarm and said they were "sure" it was a false alarm. We returned to bed and alarm went off at 2:15am and same procedure and -what the feck?- still no evacutation of the building. No explanation or apology next morning when the staff were acting as if nothing had happened. At breakfast, my daughter ordered the vegan breakfast (big tick for that) but when she asked for non-dairy spread for her toast the waitress looked at her as if she was mad and said they only had butter - again one step forward two giant leaps backwards. Tralee is a great place and we would go again but we would not darken the Grand's doorstep. I would take stars away for their attitude to the fire alarm.

We had a lovely enjoyable 5 night stay at the Grand Hotel yet again. We have stayed many, many times and we have been super pleased each time from the quality of our room to the excellent breakfast. We dined each evening in the restaurant and enjoyed every meal as did my husband. We then continued to the bar afterwards where some of the finest talent sang and played music. I can't wait to go again next year. The hotel is so central if you want to tour Tralee or the Kerry region and affordable. Looking forward to a return visit.

Had the good fortune of staying at the Grand Hotel here in Tralee. What was supposed to be one night, turned into multiple nights. The Grand Hotel, Eileen and Reg, and entire staff were the best. The rooms were beautiful and clean. Bathrooms were spotless. It was a beautiful place and a great town. Looking forward to returning.

Stayed for 1 night on a business trip. Very good meal in the bar. Staff very efficient + friendly in bar & reception. Kept Awake until 12.30.am as beer kegs were being continuously moved around by staff in the courtyard. For €175 per night, a night's sleep isn't too much to expect. At this price, a bottle of water in the room should also be a given. Mini fried breakfast - not good. If you're staying here, start by avoiding room# 122 unless you don't enjoy sleeping.

Myself and 6 family members had lunch in the Grand hotel tralee on Thursday 27th of July. The restaurant was very busy with most tables full in the bar. Unfortunately for us we were then directed to the restaurant where we were seated. Our waiter, a young bearded man seemed unhappy to see us, maybe he was nearing the end of his shift. It was quite a sunny afternoon and I was wearing a hat, which I left on the table in front of me.this seemed to upset the young man as he looked to heaven for the strength to deal with us. However he never offered me anywhere else to put it and I eventually found a shelved area just outside the kitchen door. His bad humour and manners continued throughout the meal, at one point he almost hit my elderly mother in law over the head with a bowl of soup. When it came to dessert time my wife wanted to wanted to have the chocolate brownie but with chocolate sauce instead of the butterscotch sauce. I figured that this wouldn't be an issue as the young waiter had just listed the daily dessert specials, one of which came with chocolate sauce. You guessed it,the young waiter decided that it was not possible to have the brownie with the chocolate sauce. When I suggested my idea to him about switching the sauces, he again looked to the lord for help and silently conceded. The service experience really put a bad taste in our mouths despite the food being quite good. I have worked in hospitality my entire life and have never seen such poor behaviour. Where's the Cead Mile Failure. The lunch bill came to almost €150. Very expensive considering our experience

We spent 2 nights in the Grand Hotel and had a lovely experience. The reception staff to the restaurant waiting staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The room was perfect for our family of 5. We ate in the restaurant both nights. The second night we were part of a larger group of 14. Kids, teens & adults were all very happy with the food choices. The bar is nice and had a good atmosphere. Would definitely go back. It’s in the centre of town and a great location.
