Ballyseed Castle was an absolute joy to stay in and instantly became one of my favourite hotels that I've stayed in anywhere. There is an authentic charm to the whole place that comforts you as soon as you arrive . The welcome is warm, cheery and helpful, setting the tone for the rest of your stay. We had originally booked in for 4 nights but decided to stay for another night as we simply didn't want to leave. Our kids, 8&10 also loved hotel, especially the 3 gorgeous playful dogs that unobtrusively roam the hotel and grounds.
The staff were all so lovely to deal with, Ester, Ingird, Joe, Laura and all the others whose names I can't recall. Their service and attention was superb.
Food was very good throughout the stay and even with two overly picky kids, all our meals were perfect.
One very small complaint was that the wifi in parts was a patchy and dropped out at times, but it is a castle, with very thick walls - which is also a good thing as the rooms were so quiet. There were a couple of weddings on when we stayed, but we heard nothing at all.
Could easily have stayed on for another week and genuinely can't wait to return.

Our family had a weekend stay in Ballyseede Castle in July 2020. The grounds are immaculately maintained and patrolled by two Irish Wolfhounds which were great with kids. A field of ponies were also on hand to keep little ones entertained while walking the grounds.

The team are very welcoming and the rooms are stunning and very quiet and peaceful.

As our stay was during Covid-19 it was reassuring to see all staff paying particular attention to maintaining cleanliness standards and even social distancing in the corridors throughout.

A special mention to Joe and the team at breakfast service. He managed to keep the service moving along, all while carrying out the additional hygiene measures required at this time. We will recommend the hotel and also be back again soon!

Great time at Ballyseede Castle last weekend.Super welcome at reception and fine food served in restraunt.Covid awareness really obvious.Beautiful decor, four poster bed in room, hallways full of old heirlooms and artwork from many eras . Staff helpful at all times even though new guidelines must make their tasks more strenous .Grounds really well kept with two Irish wolfhounds as unique sentinels.Very close to Tralee and not far to Banna strand on the wild Atlantic way.Breakfast menu on Sunday morning was very comprehensive and fresh ,would recommend the vegetarian option ,two tea bags in teapot is always a sign of doing things correctly ,small things matter and attention to detail was really impressive .l would highly recommend Ballyseede Castle for a short break because of above reasons
and good value for money too.Anyone exploring the ring of Kerry or the Wild Atlantic Way should consider it a base as it has a lovely relaxing ambiance to relax after a long day touring the region .

Our first major disappointment happened when arrived. Having assumed that our room was in the castle, we were informed that we were in the West Wing. This is a later extension to the Castle and although the rooms are large and nicely furnished they do not compare to the Castle bedrooms. The bathroom is large with a large walk in shower and the controls are exceptionally easy to operate, however the shampoo etc are obtained from a wall dispensers, the towels white but hard. Past their sale by date and should be replaced. Not 4 star quality! Nevertheless we had a good nights sleep.
For breakfast the Irish Fry was excellent and we ordered more toast, which was brought to the table, but surprisingly this basket was placed on top of the existing basket, which still had two muffins in it! Needless to say the muffins were left untouched.
Unfortunately our stay in the 4 star Exclusive Irish Luxury Castle did not live up to the high standard we had looked forward to.

It was an overnight stay for my partners 60th birthday. The hotel is superb, the bedrooms are plush and very comfortable, the downstairs rooms were a delight, very 19th and 18th Century type luxury. My partner loved her stay there and could have stayed for a week. Our room was on the top floor (3rd floor) accessed only by a central staircase that is beautifully carpeted and splits on either side of the foyer space as it goes up. No lift available so if you are mature in years the top floor is not advisable. I had mentioned that it was a 60th birthday surprise for my partner and for the price that they charge it would have been a nice gesture if they had left some fruit or flowers with a small card congratulating heron her 60th. Not a big deal but would have meant a lot to her.

Had a meal in the evening, wonderful meal with generous portions and perfectly cooked to our liking. Shaoirse served us and although only new with just a few weeks under her belt, we found her a delight and very helpful.

Our breakfast in the morning was another charming moment, made especially so by the delightful Joe. A man with charm and a wonderful demeanor. He was attentive but not intrusive, chatted easily with us and made us feel very welcome. A wonderful ambassador for the hotel, worth his weight in gold. 5 star.

Overall we had a fab time and we will be sure to return in the future.

Where to start...having our wedding at Ballyseede Castle exceeded all of our expectations. Our journey began when we visited Ballyseede Castle in February 2020 (pre-covid) and met with Mary and fell in love with the venue and atmosphere there. We booked our wedding for August 2020 and shortly after, the pandemic hit Ireland. Mary and all at Ballyseede Castle could not have been more accommodating and arranged a new date for us in June 2021 and also arranged a provisional later date for us in case our June wedding was not possible.

Luckily, we were able to proceed in June and everyone at Ballyseede Castle made our day magical. We stayed the night before our wedding and they couldn't do enough for us, while still always giving us space to enjoy ourselves. Marnie just goes above and beyond and gently made sure we were all on time and organized on the morning of our wedding, and made sure all the bridal party were looking their best and had everything we needed when we returned from the church. The canapes and food and drinks were amazing, everyone was commenting on the quality of the food and how outstanding the venue is. The little patio off the ballroom was ever popular and made sure all the guests were kept together and we weren't losing people throughout the evening.

All the staff on Ballyseede Castle couldn't have been more kind and accommodating with Marnie, Mary, Hilla, Paul, Joyce and Ester being particularly popular with the bridal party and guests. Everything was taken care of without us asking and the day ran so smoothly and was completely stress free.

I couldn't recommend Ballyseede Castle highly enough as a wedding venue. Everything from the venue to the staff to the food and the grounds (excellent for wedding photographs) was just exceptional and the entire day completely exceeded our expectations. Also we were hesitant with all the unknowns and restrictions of Covid but  all staff went above and beyond to make our day feel like a "normal" wedding day.

Thanks again to all the staff, we had the best day ever ❤️

We booked a short 4 night break that included dinner on two nights. Before arrival we were sent an email outlining procedures for check in. During these strange times the hotel was set up well for social distancing and all staff wore a mask at all times.
We had dinner on the first and last night in the restaurants during the standard of food was excellent. One small quibble, the menu did not change during our stay, even the ‘soup of the day’ remained the same!
Breakfast was served at your table and was very good, hot and fresh. It is much nicer then the traditional buffet. One complaint, the juices were poor, they let the other aspects of an excellent breakfast down.

Our son and his wife had a wonderful wedding at the nenowned Ballyseede Castle.
Their choice of venue was more than justified and exceeded expectations.
First and foremost we have to give immense credit to Mary who is the wedding planner.
Her advice was crucial in determining the success of the event.
She left no stone unturned to insure that everything went like clock work.
The location of this ancient castle is absolutely perfect and is surrounded by a wood in an intimate and tranquil setting.
The interior was nicely decorated with a Christmas theme.
Everything was timed to perfection and we were treated to a brilliant meal .
Compliments to the chef and his staff.
It was served with a aplomb by the efficient and courteous staff.
The meal set the tone for a very lively and enjoyable day which was helped enormously by an excellent band.
The bedroom and bathroom was fabulous and sparkling clean.
The breakfast the next morning in the spacious dining room was top notch and it capped off a truly memorable weekend.
Thanks to the manager Rory & his staff.
We can highly recommend Ballyseede Castle Hotel as a top class venue for a wedding!

We had a vegan wedding at Christmas at Ballyseede Castle, and I just wanted to say on behalf of my husband and myself how blown away we were by how accommodating and incredible every member of staff we came into contact with was in both the lead up to and during the day of the wedding. The staff gave us such a wonderful set of memories that we will treasure for a lifetime. The food was incredible, the service was amazing, and when we were nervous or anxious about anything, we found that it had already been dealt with or anticipated. I cannot state enough how impressed I was with the staff's professionalism and warmth in all areas, from Mary when we were dropping everything off and corresponding, to the wonderful wait staff and bar staff who were so kind and helpful, to the staff members who went above and beyond and helped to keep me relaxed before I walked down the aisle, even going to grab my vows out of my purse for me when I realised I had forgotten them! For anyone planning a vegan wedding, I would very highly recommend Ballyseede, as the canapés were inventive and delicious, including a vegan cheese board and wonderful selections of tofu and garlic hummus crostinis, as well as chocolate dipped strawberries to go with the mulled wine and hot chocolate that was sourced for our guests. The meal was incredible, with the risotto, lasagne, salads, soups, and apple and pear crumble all standing out for us and those with us. Our only regret is that we couldn't eat more, and had to leave some of the beautiful food behind due to the incredibly generous portion sizes, we counted seven different types of potato in the side dishes alone, and they were all delicious! Finally, I need to state how impressed we were by the Covid related protocols in place. All staff wore masks at all times, there were several alcohol gel stations in easy reach, and every precaution had so clearly been taken without creating a clinical or stressful atmosphere. It really put our minds at ease and I will never be able to thank you enough. Thank you so, so much for everything you did for us and our families, the decor of the castle, the beautiful food, the genuine kindness of your staff, stunning grounds, and gorgeous rooms will be spoken about in our family for years to come.

We have been to Kerry many times but never to Tralee before. Ballyseede has changed that. We stayed in the West Wing and were very impressed by the comfort in the rooms, level of service in bar and restaurant and by the exceptional quality of the food. Dinner in O Connells restaurant was excellent. We had 4 different starters , mains and deserts. All of excellent quality. Lamb was superb, beef was sublime and tortellini were excellent. Dinner in Orangery was a more relaxed affair but food quality still very good. Overall we had a very relaxing stay and intend to return. Goodbye Killarney. Hello Tralee!!

Yes we stayed in a cosy castle room and it was very lovely. Smaller by far than all the king size rooms but there is enough room to walk around easily, an armchair and dressing table and ensuite. We were not disappointed by it. I would recommend if you don’t want to spend the extr money and the whole experience of Ballyseede Castle is well worth it.
