The Black Sheep Hostel & Coffee Shack, a newly renovated 150 year old Georgian building. We are situated in the heart of Killarney town, one of Ireland’s number one tourist destinations. Located only one minute walk from the World famous Killarney National Park and only one minute walk from the centre of the town. You won’t be short of things to do by day or night. The hostel has it’s own south facing secret garden with organic veggies and free range chickens and ducks. Guest are free to roam the garden and chill in the patio or bbq area. Inside the hostel there are private rooms and dorms with pod style beds which are made from recycled pallets. There is a relaxing lounge with an open fire, leather couches and a communal guitar where guests are encouraged to meet fellow travelers. The hostel has an eco-friendly outdoor ethos and we love to meet fellow backpackers who love nature and the outdoors. The hostel can cater for groups of up to 36 people and arrange activities and tours for the surrounding area. The Black Sheep is not only a hostel, but a coffee shack too. Serving single origin specialty coffee from around the World. Our coffee shack has long been enjoyed by both hostel goers and locals. One of our main values is to support local businesses so along with coffee from local roasters, Golden Bean you will also find; Real Bread Killarney, Cinnamon Rolls and Lorge Handmade Chocolate. All to be experienced after an adventurous day out in Killarney National Park or the perfect pre-adventure snack!

Amazing hostel. The staff are friendly and the rooms are cleaned well. The location is right in the heart of Killarney and close to many shops and restaurants. Breakfast is included in the cost of the dorm and the common areas are very cozy. They also have bikes for rent which are in green shape and offered at a good price. Best of all, there are 4 adorable dogs that hang out in the common areas.

We stayed here for 3 nights on the 1st weekend in August and we loved every minute. The room was super clean and the bed was very comfy. The bathroom and shower were also spotless. The staff were very friendly 😁 the breakfast was great considering its included in the price. The homemade brown bread was fab. I loved the outdoor seating area at the back. There was just a nice chill vibe throughout the hostel. The coffee from the coffee shack was amazing and so was the homemade chocolates they sell.

The only minor fault in my eyes was the poor wifi in the hostel. However who needs the internet when u stay in a cool place like the Black sheep!

Oh we also loved the cute sitting room and we made use of the board games. Thank you thank you thank you! ❤❤

We booked a room in January 23 for May 23. We received an email in French confirming the booking. 4 days later we sent an email in French to cancel the booking. The hostel never answered and finally the hostel is charging us for the room. After 2 phone call and 2 email without any response, the hostel pretends that they didn't understood the cancelation email in French (they never replied to ask for an explanation in English). In conclusion : an hostel who makes zero effort to communicate with his clients and is just willing to charge for no reason people who cancelled 5 months before their booking.

This was the best hostel I’ve ever been to. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the beds were clean and had curtains that offered a lot of privacy. The free breakfast in the morning was great (with fresh baked brown bread!) and they had lots of free food you could use in the kitchen including fresh eggs from their chickens! I’d come back to Killarney for this hostel alone

This hostel is located in the town of Killarney, very close to pubs, restaurants, shops etc. Room was perfect for our trip and they had a nice sitting room with a fire going if you wanted to get out of the room and relax in the hostel. We stayed for 2 nights and would definitely stay here again. Would highly recommend

I give this hostel 5* as for the price I just can not see how one could get better. Free parking nearby, a very short walk into town, a superb vibe, friendly staff, breakfast included in the price.

I was in the top bunk of a mixed dorm so wasn't the easiest place to manouvre and get dressed, while the shower rooms were very cramped. Having said that, for the price was very difficult to complain.

Staff very friendly and polite and a great garden out the back. After a hike up Carrauntoohil this was a perfect choice and the shower was good and hot.

We spent some wonderful days at the blacksheep hostel in killarney. The hostel is decorated really nice and equipped with everything you need. Also everything is clean and in a good condition. The people there are kind and the staff is amazing. They are always really friendly and also provide a lot of ideas what you can do in the area. Renting bikes worked out so good, just like everything else :)

This is hands down the best hostel I have stayed in. Such a laid back, community driven atmosphere and a great place to travel solo and make friends. Perfect location, great garden hang out area.

The only thing is they do not have any security at night once the staff leaves. I stayed in an all girl room, and one roommate brought a stranger/guy back to stay the night (loudly). If I was comfortable with a man in my room I would’ve stayed in a mixed dorm. The lack of security can be a red flag for solo female travelers so just so you know. That would be the only thing stopping me from returning, it ruined the experience a bit.

Besides that, everything was amazing.

Fully equipped and clean kitchen it’s nice, free food which is also nice.
Rooms are clean but we didn’t like the fact that the bed are made of wood (more chances to have bedbugs- LET BE CLEAR THERE IS NONE). If you are at the last floor internet doesn’t reach your room and you might have to go outside of your room to have any. The sheets were clean and the is a plastic matress cover.
Shower and bathroom are clean, hand towels and bath rug changed ever day.
The water of the shower is very hot and have to push the button to have water (many many many times).
The coffee (coffee shop)there is also very good.
Fresh (free) chicken eggs which we loved.

Only weird thing is that in the backyard there is a couple tents !?
