My husband and I have been back to Mary’s house multiple time. Each time gets better and better! Coolclogher House sits on 60 plus acres of gorgeous land within walking distance to Killarney National Park and to the town itself. The manor home has been beautifully restored by Mary and her husband. We’ve be so fortunate with our hosts who help with everything from transportation from the airport to vans for day excursions. She has also taken the time to book golf times at multiple clubs for the golfers that join us. Not to worry if you’re not a golfer… Mary makes sure the something is planned every day for us. From seaweed baths in Dingle to Falconry on her property ( a DO NOT miss experience). Mary and her husband Maurice have become like family to me , my husband and kids, and friends that we’ve brought along with us. Don’t miss out on a stay at Coolclogher if you’re planning a visit to the Killarney area. You will not be disappointed. 10 stars all the way!…

My family has been coming to Coolclogher House for many years now, and I can't say enough good things about it. This year, we visited in April and had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect, and we enjoyed hiking, taking day trips to Dingle, Cobh, and Kenmare, and listening to Irish music in town. My friends from high school, who joined me this year, also fell in love with Coolclogher, Killarney, and Ireland! We all felt so comfortable at Coolclogher, and we loved spending time catching up with old friends and relaxing. Everyone had a spectacular time, and we can't wait to return!

We had a lovely experience with four other couples, enjoying the house, outside seating, grounds, and proximity to town. We had Chef John bring in breakfasts and several dinners, so we were able to enjoy the dining room and living spaces day and evening. We used the location as a launching point for golf outings and trips to Skellig Michael and other islands. Weather was perfect, so we had no complaints!

First of all this was the best place we’ve ever stayed, anywhere in Ireland. Great accommodations, super helpful and really nice hosts, 68 walled acres (just like they said), close to Killarney without ever seeming like we were in town; near enough to easily get to numerous top golf courses, island visits, wild Irish landscapes. The 18th c. house is Georgian in style and is in immaculate condition, inside and out. There are 7 en-suite bedrooms accommodating 14 people and they all have super-comfortable king-size beds. (Important in keeping everyone happy and feeling equally and pampered). The large eat-in kitchen is charming, bright, and is very well supplied with all the tools and work surfaces one might need. There is a very fine entry portico on the main floor opening through which one enters an enormous entry hall with main staircase ahead. Two main parlors and a large, formal dining room are accessed from here, as well as a left turn to the “back hall”. The back hall, brings you to the kitchen and “back door” and parking area. It is a smaller but still spacious space, easily accommodating numbers of people coming and going (with enough room for storing our 7 golf bags inside). Outside the back door, there’s a charming (yes charming) walled, gravel parking area with ample room for our 5 cars. Because it’s behind the house the view of cars never intrudes on our views or sense of peace. Three enormous bedrooms at the top of the main staircase face the sweeping landscapes, hayfields and sunsets to the west; we stayed in one of those and we were quite comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the old fashioned claw-foot tub with hand-held shower in our en-suite bathroom. We would have been just happy in one of the four “back bedrooms” down the hall. Next time. They are a bit smaller, but by no means are they small or cramped. They have a cozier vibe than the three front bedrooms and have smaller-windowed views around the exterior. I love that the bedrooms, stairs and upstairs hallways are carpeted. No squeaking floorboards, cold feet or sense of rattling noisily around the place. If anyone (adult or child) is running inside, you probably wouldn’t notice. Our group insisted on having a chef. Not my choice - Coolclogher’s kitchen is terrifically well supplied with all the tools and work surfaces one might need to cook at home, plus it is a cozy and comfy room to hang out in - but I went with the group vote. These folks did NOT want to cook on this trip. We worked with a caterer recommended by Mary and he was terrific. All our breakfasts were catered provided, a couple of bagged lunches for road trip days. and four evenings of dinner (self-) service. We usually ate meals kept warm on a chafing dish. On our last evening we requested a full service dinner - food cooked, wine brought, served by staff, and cleaned up afterwards. Much as I resisted the notion of a caterer/chef on our vacation, this full-service dinner was excellent and worth the extra expense. Rest of the time we ate dinners out with excellent results except perhaps in Killarney itself where rapid customer turnover is an obvious goal of the wait staff. And it felt like it. So choose a truly fine restaurant - ask Mary! - if you want a really nice meal with thoughtful service. and book ahead since, even in May, Killarney was full of tourists and folks enjoying the bank holiday. I particularly enjoyed getting to know, as much as one can in a busy week, our busy landlady, Mary Harnett and her husband, Maurice, who worked tirelessly to bring in the hay during our stay. (It really did look like a Millet painting!) They both were warm and welcoming, provided excellent guidance, and brought good cheer to all of us. Clearly they enjoy people as we did them. Overall I give Coolclogher House an A++++. for value, atmosphere, comfort, hospitality, and location. It way exceeded my expectations - and I were expecting a lot. My fussier (used to luxe travelling) companions said the exact same thing. Kudos to the Harnetts. …

Travelled from the US for two wonderful weeks at Coolclogher. During our time we welcomed our 7 children 3 of their spouses a couple of grandchildren an Uncle and Aunt. We were all together for one evening at one table in the beautiful dining room to enjoy a catered diner. Day trips to the Gap of Dunloe, Dingle, Ring of Kerry, Killorglin, Killarney National Park (by bike) and local world class golf courses were highlights. When we stayed at home to catch our breath the beautiful grounds came alive with family yard games. Killarney is so convenient to the house and packed with great food and music options. Our hosts Mary and Maurice Harnett were so wonderful and helpful!! A memorable experience that exceeded expectations by far. As Mary truly states, “once you’re here you won’t want to be leaving”…

A group of us were lucky enough to spend two weeks in this amazing home while we explored beautiful County Kerry. The weather outside was sometimes cool and often wet, but at the end of each day we returned to a cozy, elegant, comfortable, inviting house to cook in the spacious, well-equipped kitchen and look out to stunning views as we dined. Nothing was lacking and Mary and Maurice were the perfect hosts, taking good care of us and always ready to suggest new activities and sights. It was a wonderful holiday in a truly lovely part of the world.

Many thanks to Mary and Maurice for facilitating yet another incredible experience (this was my second stay at the Coolclogher) to the Southwest of Ireland. The home is INCREDIBLE providing a mixture of comfort, luxury and a feeling of stepping back in time. The grounds are magnificent offering expansive views as well as a peaceful serenity and a feeling of being one with the Irish countryside, yet the house is only a 15 minute walk to the center of a bustling Killarney town. Mary and Maurice help coordinate travel arrangements for my golfing group of seven as well as supplying her personal chef for an awesome Irish Stew experience on our final night. I will return to the Coolclogher again -- the trick is trying to find a time when Mary actually has availability at this magnificent MANOR home. George J. O'Brien Los Angeles, California, USA …

My husband myself and 8 friends stayed at Coolclogher house for one week this past June, our time there was wonderful, the scenery from the house was so amazing and it stayed light till 11pm. The house is spectacular, we felt like we were in Downton Abbey just without the clothes they wore.

We had a wonderful family and friend trip to Coolclogher House this May. The proximity to Killarney national park and town as well as easy day trips to Dingle and Beara Pennisula, make this an ideal location. Honestly, it is the warmth and hospitality of Mary and Maurice that make this place so special. You have an amazing place to stay with comfortable beds and sitting rooms and incredible outdoor space. The views are picture perfect. Our 2 yo grandson enjoyed visiting the sheep and chicken. We loved the recommended chef that made us special dinners and the minibus driver that Mary recommended. Coolclogher will always be the gold standard for us visiting Ireland, hope to visit again real soon
