For some reason, Kalarney is an underrated destination in the tour guides. We arrived via train from cork on Sunday and loved the entire town and atmosphere. Lots of shopping on Sundays! Perhaps the best part was the treatment at the Fairview. Arrived early so...More
This hotel is good - not the best though I must say. There are two locations for this hotel - the actual hotel and then a separate B&B down the street. We stayed in the apartment in the B&B and it is quite spacious -...More

Rooms were decent but not fantastic. Hotel was clean. Hotel is in an excellent location especially for sightseeing around downtown Killarney. The breakfast though was quite substandard. And the space is not very big so it gets crowded out very quickly. We went during the...More

Anyone else been robbed blind by this place when you've had to cancel a booking without giving 72 hours notice???? I gave them 48 hours, and explained the personal circumstances which prevented me from cancelling sooner. They (eventually) agreed to 'graciously' refund half of what they effectively stole as a gesture of 'goodwill'. Still waiting for them to do that 2 months later!! Anyone thinking of booking a room at this place, DON'T DO IT!!! Bunch of robbing b*******!!!!!! They've ignored all my attempts to contact them to try and resolve this. Anyone out there with a legal background who can offer advice as to what to do next?? HELP!

Thanks Liam. You're absolutely right- I had no joy in getting the refund I was legally entitled to. The Irish Hotels Federations Legal Guide states a hotel may charge a guest when cancelling a reservation. However, it goes on to qualify this by saying there is no industry standard regarding cancellations, but the charges ‘must be reasonable and proportionate to the loss likely to be suffered by the hotel due to the cancellation.’ There can be no justification to charge me in full when 1) I was able to offer 48 hours notice prior to cancelling 2) the hotel was not fully booked on the date in question 3) as soon as I realised the charge had been made I provided a full and frank account of the personal circumstances which prevented me from cancelling sooner. The hotel manager sent me a number of rude and threatening emails telling me to 'call off' my action. In the end the whole think made me feel sick with stress, I can't afford to write off such a substantial sum of money but they left me with no alternative for the sake of my well being. I really have no idea how the hotel has any good reviews and can only assume the unscrupulous manager has simply fabricated them.

Hi - do you have laundry services? Self-service, or same day pick-up and delivery?
Looking forward to our two-night stay in July!
