We had a two night stay at Ross Castle Lodge and it was lovely. Set amongst beautiful gardens a 10 min walk out of town it was very peaceful. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was more than ample and freshly cooked by Rosaleen. We were more than happy with our stay.
Rosaleen and Denis were great hosts and can highly recommend Ross Castle Lodge.
Thank you for a great stay.

Just got back from a wonderful 10 days in Ireland and the best memory
of our trip is our stay at Ross Castle Lodge in Killarney. The O'Leary's are
wonderful proprietors who made our family feel so welcome and looked
after. We booked two of the most lovely rooms we could imagine and
along with the fabulous breakfast and fantastic walks it made for the best
five nights ever. The location of the lodge is a real big positive, our daily
walks to Ross Castle and into town made the stay delightful. Dennis and
Rosaleen helped us plan our trips around the Ring of Kerry and the
Dingle Penisula and then advised us on terrific things to see in Killarney.
I would and will recommend this B&B to anyone staying in County Kerry.

Huge rooms that were clean and updated with great shower. Best breakfast in Ireland especially the home made porridge. I cannot think of one thing that they missed. There are little chocolate bars in the rooms. There are luggage racks and hair dryers. Lots of local information in the room and the hosts are incredibly welcoming and warm. I would recommend this place to anyone. I have rated 3 B&B and 1 hotel for our Ireland trip and the others all got 3 versus this 5 plus!

Last October myself, wife, mother and two kids (14 and 9) stayed at the Ross Castle Lodge in Killarney. It was great. It is really hard to select a hotel over the internet. One of my biggest concerns was getting a ground floor room for my 80 year old mother, who does not climb stairs well. We wanted non-smoking and TV in the room as well.

After flying in to Shannon airport after 24 hours of traveling from California, we got our rental car and drove to Killarney. The Ross Castle Lodge is just outside Killarney and about a mile from the famous and beautiful lakeside Ross Castle. Almost everything was great. Our hosts were very personable, and the two rooms we rented were very comfortable.

Eating the full breakfast in the morning, we could look out the picture window into the front garden and wishing well. It looked just like a Thomas Kinkade painting. Every so often a horse powered jaunting cart carrying tourists would trot by.

My only complaint is that the water tank for the building must be old because we got some moss or whatever in our shower water. Not a big thing. We had plenty of bottled water to drink. We were about the last guests of the season so we essentially had the place to ourselves and it was very quiet and cozy.

Killarney is a very nice tourist town. Shopping and scenic drives nearby. Muckross House and the Gap of Dunlow are both recommended. Killarney has several supermarkets that carry most things you find in the US. Go there to get sandwiches made. You can then do a picnic lunch with potato salad or potato chips and cans of soda. You can save your expensive Euros for a few glasses of Guiness at night.

My husband, myself and my 80 year old Mum stayed for two nights at this wonderful B and B. The welcome and service are excellent, and we felt that no request was too much trouble for Rosaleen. We had a glass of wine in the room tumblers on the first night, and by the second, three wine glassas had magically appeared! That has never happened anywhere before! The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean, with lovely big bathrooms and plenty of big fluffy towels. Ross Castle Lodge is much more of a hotel than a Bed and Breakfast establishment, and represents excellent value for money. I wish I could say the same for Killarney's restaurants! We will definitely return when we next visit Kerry.

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Ireland. We spent our first two nights at the Ross Castle Lodge and cannot imagine starting our vacation out any better. From the moment you get to there Denis and Roseleen make you feel as welcomed as a family member. After an overnight flight we arrived at 11am and Roseleen quickly finished cleaning our room and we were in by 11:15am. While we waited Denis gave us great tips on what to do for our first day in Killarney. He gave us enough ideas to do and keep us awake until at least 8pm which was key in getting over the jet lag. The next day (fully rested and not jet lagged at all) we did the Ring of Kerry. After our delicious breakfast Denis grabbed a map and layed out the route we should take and where we should stop. Some areas were touristy and some others were his personal favorite spots which actually turned out to be the most fun. Both evenings we went in to town and had dinner at Pubs and of course had a few pints. Service was excellent every where we went and the town itself is charming.

We stayed in room number one which had a king size bed and in a sitting area with a vanity and another twin bed. The room was very large and had all the comforts of home. Including a coffee maker, blow dryer and TV. If you plan on bringing anything else that requires electricity you will need an adaptor. Our view was of the lovely garden in the back yard.

You really feel that both Denis and Roseleen take a general interest in getting to know you and making sure that you have the best time while you are with them. My only regret staying there was that we had to leave. I can't wait to go back!

The proprietors, Rosaleen and Denis O'Leary, were the perfect hosts.
They were charming and helpful and ensured our comfort during our three-night stay at Ross Castle Lodge. They provided us with maps of the area and recommended trails to hike. They set up a tour of the Gap of Dunloe us, and then they kept an eye on us until the bus picked us up outside their driveway. The B&B is located a short walk from Ross Castle (well worth a visit) and an approximately 15 min walk to Killarney Town Center. It's on a quiet street, which means you can go to sleep without listening to the sounds of traffic. The proprietors also have lovely gardens. We enjoyed wandering through them and trying to identify the different flowers. The rooms were very comfortable and they left the heat on--this was the only B&B that left the heat on during our 10-day tour of Ireland, even though it was unseasonably cold and we were cold! Our room was large and comfortable with a queen-sized bed, lots of closet space, a t-v, and a large bathroom with a combination bath/shower. The water was hot and the pressure strong! We enjoyed the sitting room, which had some kind of cable t-v with (it seemed) hundreds of channels. Our breakfasts were terrific! We had several excellent choices but kept going back to the simple but hearty choice of fruit salad (wonderful!), eggs, and potato waffles. We really loved the potato waffles! Breakfast also comes with soda bread, toast, jam, coffee, and tea. Ross Castle Lodge is a terrific place to stay and we would go back in a heartbeat!

We have just spent 3 nights at the Ross Castle Lodge. We would highly recommend this b & b. It's situated away from the town but offers lovely walking paths and real peace and quiet. We had a twin room which was larger than you would find in most hotels. It was immaculately clean. I can't say enough good things about the hostess. If you are going to Killarney then you should stay at the Ross Castle Lodge. You won't do better.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at the Ross Castle Lodge in 2003 so much that we returned in 2004 for six more nights! In 2004, my husband and my daughter's fiance both were there with us. It was fabulous! I do not know how it could have been any better.

My husband and I stayed with the O'Learys for three nights in May '07. The home, and Rosaleen, were simply wonderful, and the most comfortable place to stay in every way.

The room was lovely, clean, and roomy with a very comfortable queen-sized bed, and the house had a very "loved" feeling - hard to describe, but so "homey". The decor is elegant without being overly fussy, and everything is where it needs to be. The breakfast room is delighful, and looks out over a garden patio for guest use. The garden is lovely - English roses, irises and columbines all in flower in May, a nice welcome as you walk to the entrance after a day out.

Breakfast was terrific - out of 3 B&B's we stayed in offering "traditional Irish breakfast", this was the best, and the Clonakilty black pudding convinced me it is actually really good (having had some bad examples in hotels). And the breakfast is made all that much better served by Rosaleen, who will happily and kindly chat away the morning with her guests, giving them all sorts of grand ideas for the day.

Location is as others have said, a bit of a walk to town, but through a lovely wooded park and fairly easy. For a late night, walk in and get a taxi back, or a car ride is only five minutes.
