Nestled in the heart of Killarney, the Killarney Royal Hotel emerges as a favorite for its central location, making it a perfect hub for exploration. The staff's exceptional attentiveness and the hotel's overall cleanliness receive high marks from guests, who also enjoy the comfortable and spacious rooms, despite occasional noise and accessibility issues. Myself and my fiancé stayed for two nights in the Killarney Royal and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is excellently located, in the centre of Killarney. We had a fantastic meal in The Candle Room restaurant on one night. The menu was varied and the food was of a very high standard, beautifully presented and the ambiance in the restaurant really added to the experience. The bar is also very cosy and welcoming. We enjoyed drinks there on both evenings. The most impressive thing about Killarney Royal would have to be the level of service offered, from every single member of staff. They were all very friendly, polite and welcoming making us feel at home from the minute we arrived. I would like to especially mention John who was working in the bar and as night manager on both evenings. He was extremely friendly and made sure to get to know us and go out of his way to add a personal touch to our stay.
The only reason I have not given the hotel a rating of 5 is that we felt that the bedroom, while very spacious, could possibly do with a bit of a face lift in places.
Finally I would like to highlight the exceptional level of care taken by the hotel to implement Covid 19 safety measures. All staff were very particular to keep on top of social distancing and constant sanitisation. As guests we were met by sanisiting stations in all areas of the hotel and lots of tasteful visual reminders to follow healthy and safety guidelines. We had a very safe and relaxing experience. We would definitely come back to this hotel and would recommend it to others.

We arrived here on 1st September. We had eaten a beautiful lunch here a couple of years ago and vowed that next time in Killarney we would stay here. It is part of the Hayfield Family Collection with which we are familiar.
We were really warmly welcomed by Nuala who checked us in without a hitch and told us of their Covid 19 Policy. She had a fantastic sense of humour, great fun. Our room was very comfortable if a little dark, (no view) but it was quiet and as an "elderly" couple quietness is important. There was complimentary Tea and Scones served in the Lobby which was a really nice touch to "settle us in".
We had dinner on both evenings (as we had an "Active Retirement Package") and were ably served by Billy Carver (with his great sense of fun), Mike and Hayden who were all fantastic. My only derogatory remark on this hotel is the quality of the food could be much better.
The location of the hotel could hardly be better, it is just a minute or two's walking distance right into the centre and about an 8-10 minute walk from the Train Station. The Killarney National Park is right there too.
Thank you to Nuala and Tanya (good luck with the baby) and all the team. We will be back hopefully.

Having had a gift of a Blue Book voucher, we looked for somewhere nice in Killarney for our little break. From the moment we walked into this hotel, we were made to feel welcome. Tanya at reception was smiling, friendly and very professional. Our junior suite was fabulous with everything we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable. A hand written welcome card accompanied by delicious petit fours was a special touch. Dinner was another wonderful experience, Michelle was a particularly helpful, and friendly waitress , our meal was delicious .The breakfast was great with lots of choices available, the breads were exceptional. Billy, the manager, was really attentive and also very friendly. The hotel is situated in a central location, parking was free of charge at the nearby sister hotel just a few minutes walk away. We also availed of the use of the leisure centre there. The leisure centre looks a lot better in the advertising than in reality. We were disappointed in the dated pool area, and even though the signage states pool caps must be worn at all times, I counted 10 people in the pool wearing none. Nonetheless, it’s an extra perk, so we made the most of it. Cannot praise the staff at the Killarney Royal enough, thank you all for making us feel pampered and welcome.

I stayed for one night in this hotel for a pre Christmas break from 21st-22nd December. It was a perfect stay and my only regret is that I didn’t stay longer.

The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Killarney and ample car parking is available across the road at their sister hotel, The Great Southern.

On arrival at the hotel it was clear that the hotel staff and management have done everything humanly possible to protect their guests from COVID-19. This gave me great confidence that my stay would be a safe one.

At check in the staff were very friendly and had a lovely manner in how they spoke to me. I was delighted to receive dining credit for my evening meal in the bar (more about that later).

The room I was allocated was very spacious, immaculately clean, and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was well stocked with towels and toiletries, including hand sanitiser. I couldn’t have asked for a better room!

Later that evening, I dined in the bar, from the three course menu. The cost was €45 (€35 with the dining credit applied), and was good value considering the quality of the food and service on offer.

The next morning I treated myself to a full Irish breakfast, which was included in the room rate. It was delicious and once again served by friendly, attentive, but unobtrusive staff.

After breakfast, the staff member on reception made check out a friendly and easy experience.

My only problem with the trip to the Killarney Royal was that it was too brief! I look forward to coming back to the hotel soon and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good food, lovely service, and an opportunity to relax in the middle of lovely Killarney.

Stayed for a two night break in the Killarney Royal. Hotel is less than a five minute walk from the train station. Upon entering the hotel,I was met by relaxing live piano music and a beautiful fire in the lobby area. It is nicely decorated and warm and cosy.

I was greeted warmly by Nuala on reception who chatted away while checking me in.
My room was on the first floor and was warmly decorated and very spacious!
It had two beds, and a nice seating area with couch.
Bathroom was huge with double sinks and deep soaking tub. Bathrobe and slippers are provided as well as toiletries by the white company.

I had dinner in the bar area and was very impressed with the food and service. Another receptionist Tanya came in and introduced herself, and asked if she could do anything for me.
Breakfast was served in the candle room restaurant and the server Billy was very attentive and helpful.

A lovely stay in a boutique hotel. The staff are absolutely lovely and are genuine in their desire to please the guests. I would definitely return again.

Only spent a night here but we were extremely pleased with everything from the moment we walked in the door.
We arrived early and they let us store our bags. They then called us whilst on the ring of Kerry to let us know our pre-paid booking was cancelled unbeknownst to us. Quickly booked us another room and sorted everything whilst we were touring.
Rooms are a great size for a family of 4 and you cannot beat the location, you walk out the front door and everything is right in front of you in terms of pubs and restaurants.
Classic older style of hotel that has a lot of character and charm. The staff Nuala and Tanya were absolutely awesome.
Would highly recommend for the family as a great base to tour the many sights the region has to offer. Car parking just across the road.

This hotel is ideally located in Killarney town with ample free parking available a few mins walk away at the Great Southern. My husband and I really enjoyed our night away. We had originally booked a night in March for my birthday and when hotels closed because of Covid, they kindly honoured the same price when we rebooked for August. The bottle of Prosecco in the room was such a nice surprise and a lovely touch! We felt they had gone to extra lengths to ensure guests felt comfortable and safe during these uncertain times compared to other places we have stayed this summer. Nuala at reception is lovely. We loved our room. The junior suite is spacious and has a luxurious feel with a large bathroom and a huge comfortable bed! Bar food is nice and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast too. Will look forward to a return visit!

This is a very busy hotel, in a town centre location, with a long walk, if you have lots of luggage, to the car park, that is shared with the Great Southern Hotel, a sister hotel in the chain.
The hotel is very comfortable with a super, spacious bedroom, well-appointed and exceptional staff who were most attentive and very friendly. We had to book at short notice to attend a funeral but the reception staff on a Sunday night made the whole process straightforward.
We were surprised that we were not, at any stage, asked for our Covid passes, which we found unnerving as this was the first time we had been away and stayed overnight outside of home. However, there was plenty of hand sanitizers although difficult to socially distance in smaller reception and lounge areas.

Ended a 10 day trip to Kerry with a stay in the Killarney Royal and I couldn’t recommend the hotel enough! The staff were extremely welcoming, friendly, asked how we were each time we came into the hotel, and the effort put in by all the staff re COVID restrictions was very clear.
Special thanks to Billy who took great care of us in the bar and restaurant.

The rooms were a great size, comfy beds and sleep spray was included in the toiletries, which I’ve never seen in a hotel before - lovely touch.

Parking was provided just across the road at the Great Southern.

We’ll definitely be back!

We stayed in the Royal in late July/early August. We booked via the Bluebook website which I always do when we book a couples weekend away. I’m at pains writing this as much of our stay was delightful but our room was a massive massive let down and so far below Bluebook standard. We had room 108.
Upon checking in we noticed a kitchen /cooking smell when we turned on the light/extractor fan in the bathroom. Not a pleasant start. The room was also quite stuffy so we tried to turn on the air con. What a disaster. As soon as it opened water gushed out and the smell of damp and mould was horrendous. The smell remained in the room for our entire stay. We had to make do with opening the windows for the entire weekend and I had to pop to the Kilkenny shop for a Reed diffuser to mask the musty stench. A total health hazard if you had respiratory issues. Especially during these Covid times.
The window closest to the bed was broken and I thought it might come off it’s hinges. The Royal is very conveniently located in Killarney but when it’s 18 degrees at night and there are drunk and loud teenagers in the alley way right underneath your open window keeping you awake, the location is a negative!
Very limited wardrobe space with 3 hangers for two people. Bottom fell out of the coffee table when we tried to move it. Disposable mask left underneath the sofa (not ours - we don’t buy them). Dust on the curtains, in the windowsills and on the dresser.
Bed is very very comfortable and good quality as is the shower and the bathroom itself is a beautiful, stately and spacious one but for what we paid for the room I was very let down. I can’t believe a hotel would allow people to check in and use a room like the one we were given.
Dinner was very tasty and service was excellent. Same experience at breakfast. Served by a tall, fair haired man with lots of Kerry charm and professionalism. The food is delicious and well sourced.
You may ask why we didn’t highlight room issues but we were told the hotel was full up on checking in and even when we were checking out the gentleman never bothered to ask how our stay was and really didn’t seem interested at all. Aside from this the staff are generally excellent, well informed and on the ball. We were in Killarney for a very busy but much anticipated stay so tried to make do. Not Bluebook standard at all I’m afraid. Would eat in the bistro/restaurant again but wouldn’t stay again.
