What an amazing hotel, especially in dealing with food allergies. Just had an amazing 2 night stay in this wonderful hotel. I couldn’t recommend it enough, loved every aspect of it. My son is anaphylactic to eggs and peanuts, and I had contacted the hotel to make them aware and I knew from their response that my son would be safe eating here, the staff couldn’t of done more for us. We dined at the restaurant both nights, on the first night we had a lovely waitress called Eliza, and she was just superb, nothing was a bother to her, she really put our minds at ease and ensured that my sons food would be egg and peanut free. Because my sons allergy is airborne they even had us seated far away from others which was just amazing. The hotel itself is absolutely spotless, lots of hand sanitising stations available all throughout the hotel and a separate lift to go up and down. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and already planning our next visit. Thank you again to all the staff for making my son feel safe which meant that we could relax and enjoy our break away.

We stayed here for two nights.
The cost of the room was €278 for two on a B&B basis. This is far too expensive for what you get.
This is marketed as a 4 star hotel but it is tired and in need of major renovation to be a four star hotel.

Check in process was fine apart from the two boxes for clean pens and used pens which is ridiculous.

The room was very dated and tired and in need of doing up. There was no air conditioning and the window looked out on a ditch. It was really warm at night.

We had dinner there the first night. Most staff were wearing the face masks incorrectly and some on their chins.

When checking in we heard the receptionist talking about a €30, 3 course menu but this was not offered to us in the restaurant. When I asked about it the waitress had to go consult about it and it seems the man she asked was displeased we knew about it but did give it to us. I noted other tables were not.

The food was good and service was quite good apart from the fact that they took plates the instant we were finished and didn’t wait until both of us were finished. There was no sense of team work at all among the staff.

Breakfast - the food was good but the staffing of it was very poor. One didn’t seem to know what the other was doing. I had to go and get sugar, butter and jam from other tables as no staff were attending us. I would emphasise this wasn’t the fault of the individual waitresses but supervisor/management level.

I have stayed in many 4 star hotels but how this claims to be one is beyond me.

From reading other reviews I note the manager contradicts many reviews but this is my experience.

I would not return or recommend a friend.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. We are very sorry to read that your recent stay in our hotel did not meet your expectations. We don't claim to be a four star hotel, we are one and go through the exact same inspections as all other four star hotels in the country through the regulatory body Faillte Ireland. You have mentioned me in your review so I feel it's only fair to respond to your allegation that I contradict many reviews. I completely disagree with this statement, there are always two sides to every story. I feel that a major part of my role here at the hotel is to support/defend the staff who try to achieve 100% guest satisfaction at all times and the hard fought reputation of the hotel. As such I try to fairly present the hotels side of the story in a factual manner to enable future guests to make up their own mind on whether or not to stay in our hotel. Presenting our opinions and experience in the same manner as you just have does not meet the definition of a contradiction. I would never try to negate or contradict the opinions of any of our guests, we are truly appreciative of any guest that chooses to stay in our hotel. For example you reference that our system of two boxes for pens is ridiculous, how so? Would you yourself be comfortable using a pen that another guest has used previously in the current climate? Do you think that our staff should have to share pens with our guests? You also noted that other tables were not offered the 3 course menu, this is completely natural as the 3 course menu is always served in a separate area of the dining room and is a white cloth service which our guests have to book in advance. We also have a reservation system in place which means that our guests have chosen which dining option they want before arriving to the dining area. I hope that you can see that there are completely natural and sensible explanations to a number of points that you have raised in your review. All experiences are subjective and what one guest may take up one way another guest may see completely differently. There are a large number of comments on another booking site with a review system mentioning how enjoyable their breakfast was from guests who I am quite sure stayed at the exact same time as you, again this is all subjective. This is the challenge of the the hospitality industry, one which we embrace every day. I can assure you that it saddens me personally and the entire team here at the hotel that your experience has not met your expectations, we come to work every day to provide the best possible service for our guests and will strive to continue to achieve this target every day. We don't come to work to provide less than satisfactory experiences for our guests but we know that it's not possible to achieve the standards that we expect from ourselves for each and every individual guest. There are very few (if any) hotels or businesses in general that can achieve this target 100% of the time. We wish you all the best in your future travels. Jason Doyle Operations Manager

Room was very clean, staff were polite and attentive but we found the room itself to be underwhelming. Upon entering the room we found it to be different to the room we had booked, we ended up with a double bed and an additional single bed instead of just a double. Although this did provide us with more space, we’d have rather had the room we booked and there be some additional touches to finish off the stay. With this being a 4 star hotel we would have expected the additional extras such as bottled water, real mugs as opposed to paper cups, glasses for the water or any drinks we chose to purchase from a nearby shop, a good variety of toiletries and maybe even a robe/slippers. It was disappointing given the amount of money we had paid for the room. We found the lighting to be awkward in the room, to have the central lamp on you also had to have all of the other lights in the room on as they were all connected in the circuit - difficult to create ambiance. The room was also way too hot with no air conditioning or even a small plug in fan to use. We had to sleep with the windows open which meant dealing with the noise from the busy main road outside. The quality at breakfast was good but we found the selection to be a little bit limited. It would have been nice to have the option of pancakes, waffles, fruit etc rather than just a fry or cereal. 12pm check out was handy but there wasn’t anyone on reception to pass on any feedback to.

Hi Kate, Thanks for posting your review. We appreciate your feedback but unfortunately a lot of what you wrote in your review is wrong or just not possible due to covid restrictions. I hate to point it out in this manner as we are very appreciative of your custom but public perception is very important to our business and your review could be very damaging if people were to take it at face value. We don't sell specific rooms online, we sell rooms by type and this is the first instance of us receiving a complaint for giving a guest a large room. The paper cups in the room are a recommendation from Failte Ireland as cups are a touch point which can transmit Covid 19. They are disposed of after each check out, this is one of the many steps that we take to keep our guests safe. It's not a requirement to provide bottled water in rooms but we do provide water free of charge to all of our guests when they ask which is in our welcome letters on the table in all rooms. We don't have a spa or swimming pool which means we don't have a need for robes, also these are normally provided in other establishments for an extra fee unless staying in a suite or deluxe room which is charged at a higher price. Apologies that you found the lighting awkward its possible to have each set of lights switched on and off independently there are controls on the wall next to the door, between the beds and the corner lamp works off of a foot pedal switch. We provide fans on request for all of our guests. We do provide pancakes at breakfast, they need to be ordered from the staff members and are not on the buffet. We provide whole fruits and fresh fruit salad on the buffet. We also do granola pots with fresh fruit and with fruit compote on the buffet every morning these are individually wrapped again to prevent transmission of the virus. The vast majority of our guests have commented so positively on our breakfast offerings as regards the selection and the steps we take to keep our guests safe. The number one most disappointing thing from your whole review apart from your own dissatisfaction is that 99% of what you wrote about could have been easily provided had you only taken the time to talk to us. Best Regards, Jason Doyle Operations Manager

Very disappointed with our stay. Our room was above reception facing out onto car park. The sun was beaming directly into the room in the evenings. The room therefore was so stuffy.
We couldn't open the little window due to the noise levels outside in the carpark at night time. The vent on the big windows might aswell it have been there.

We asked for a fan on 3 separate occasions and told they didn't have any left each time. On the third time we were told we could move to another room that was vacant for the evening. We asked if we could move room after we come back from dinner, as we had a table booked in a restaurant. Due to covid 19 it was the only time the restaurant had available. The response we got was it's now or never.

So not only could we not sleep die to the heat and noise levels. The bed was also very uncomfortable. Might aswell not have had pillows.

On our second night we booked a table to have a few drinks. When we arrived to the bar we were left standing looking around not know where to go. As staff stood on watching us from the bar. We were sat down at a table but were left waiting 20 minutes to order and another 15 mins to receive our drinks. While you only have 90 minutes under covid 19 guidelines this was very poor service.

I emailed the hotel with our feedback and the response I got was argumentive and completely unprofessional and rude. I'm nearly 100% sure the manager that was responding in the emails is the same staff member that told us it's now or never.

Surely a hotel should look after the paying customers before potential customers.

Only good thing about hotel was it was clean and a good location. But unfortunately I went home exhausted instead of rested due to lack of sleep after our 4 night stay.

Dear Guest, I have already apologised to by personal e-mail for you dissatisfaction during your stay in our hotel. It was myself who responded to your e-mail and it was our Food & Beverage Manager that you spoke to on the day. The reason that you were asked to decide at the time was that we had a full house and we needed to have your room dis-infected and sanitised correctly before we could allow another guest to check in. I did explain this to you in detail in my response to your complaint which you have neglected to mention in your review. I would ask you to put yourself in the shoes of the other guest who was booked and not a potential guest as you have alluded to. How would you feel if you arrived to a hotel to be told that there was no room available for you? Some of our guests travel long distances to stay in our hotel and we have a lot of repeat guests who very much look forward to their visits to our hotel. This is the reason why we treat the needs of all of our guests equally. We wish you all the best in your future travels, Jason Doyle Operations Manager

I visited the Heights Hotel midweek in January with my 3 year old son. On check in we were greeted by Joan at reception who couldn't have been nicer to us, she was friendly, polite, informative and made an effort to come speak to my son also and include him.
We stayed in room 227, I couldn't fault anything about it, everything was great and the fridge in the room was an added bonus as was the separate shower/bath as my son enjoys a bath. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and the man serving us was friendly, chatty, polite and made us feel welcome, I didn't catch his name but again made an effort to speak to my son and include him which I appreciated and nothing was too much trouble.
For breakfast both mornings the same lady again didn't catch her name but she has short blonde hair and wore glasses, was so friendly and welcoming and obliging with anything we asked for. She chatted to my son and I on both mornings and was chirpy and happy on both occasions and put a smile on our faces. Breakfast was great also and my son was delighted to have gotten pancakes on our second morning!!
Overall The Heights Hotel exceeded my expectations and that is down to the fantastic staff who are a credit to the hotel making sure guests are greeted well and looked after. Every time we passed in and out through reception all staff at the reception desk made an effort to say hello or goodbye to us and have a little chat which I found very personal and a nice touch.
The hotel itself is also fantastic, rooms, restaurant and everything else were great, I really couldn't fault it in any way.
I travelled alone with a toddler which can sometimes be a struggle but staying here put me at ease and I felt very comfortable here.
Thumbs up from us 👍

The bed was so comfortable, and the Castle Suite room was incredibly nice as a bridal suite with a large sitting/dining room area. The bathroom was spacious with a soaking tub and walk-in shower plus heated towel rack -bonus since we had a very rainy/cold day. The concierge provided all the proper Irish destinations to see and eat locally without hesitation and enjoyed hearing our feedback. The bar/restaurant on site was delightful as well.

Originally booked to stay here for three nights however, my family and I had such a great time we added an extra night. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Killarney, about a 10 minute walk from the outlet centre. The location of the hotel is great as it is really quiet yet close to everything. The staff are really lovely especially Olga in reception and Joan in the restaurant. The rooms are lovely and spacious and the corridors are lovely and wide (this allows for social distancing). Breakfast is lovely with plenty of variety and the staff are excellent at coordinating breakfast times so that social Distancing can happen. My daughter and I ate in the restaurant one night and I must commend the gentleman (manager) who was trying to Cordinator everybody and everything. He had such a tough job as there were so many people coming in who did not have bookings. He was so professional and he really did have a tough job trying to make sure that all customers were complying to all the regulations. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Staff are lovely, rooms are lovely, food is great and overall we had a great time. Looking forward (please God) to getting back to Killarney again sometime. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable ❤️

Hotel is well located. Staff are generally friendly but some of the morning breakfast staff could do with some personality lessons. No WIFI in the room was told on first day we arrived it was been sorted but on departure still no service, this was a major inconvenience due to work commitments on our break. To be told "sure just come down to rececpion coverage is better" says it all really. Food in the hotel was good across the board.

Recently stayed here with my partner and baby, was disappointed as our key card for our room didn’t work on several occasions, once had us waiting for 15/20 mins outside with our sleeping baby in our arms waiting for them to solve which they didn’t for several hours. Had to get food sent to the room for the baby when I had rang to see if our key card was ready and was told it might not work and we might have to move rooms as we were not given another key card to get back into our room and when leaving charged us for this which I thought was an extremely poor thing to do considering all the hassle we had with getting into our room right up until we checked out the next day. One thing I will say is the receptionist and staff were excellent and very kind but all in all this hotel is certainly not worth the €135 we paid for the night. So doubt we will return
