Detailed Reviews
I am just back from a two night stay from the Avenue Hotel Killarney and I just can't stay enough about the place.
For starters the staff are second to none, I don't think I had to wait longer than 60 seconds for a member of staff to stop and ask if they could help with anything. There was an abundance of staff because of covid ,they were all so attentive kind and very professional.
The rooms were spotless not even the smallest amount of dust, so comfortable with extra pillows, bottles of water set out for guests ,ample towels and toiletries and air conditioning which was really needed.
The food in the bar was very reasonably priced and the menu had a very large variety of dishes, I have to recommend the roast lamb it was really good the floor staff and the chef in the kitchen were very helpful as I have a special diet and there was no problem at all for them.
The restaurant staff always met us with a smile and a chat, we were always seated straight away and never even had to look for them because there was always someone checking in on us. I have to say all in all the service was ten out of ten, they are very efficient ,I actually don't think they could improve on anything. If you want to treat yourself this is definitely a must.
Well done to all the staff of the Avenue hotel thank you all for making our stay amazing.

I was assigned to work in Sneem Co Kerry, in normal times that would be no problem, but because of the Covid 19 pandemic finding accommodation is not as easy. I have to say I found the Killarney Avenue Hotel so so helpful and accommodating, and their procedures were so reassuring that I was safe. I needed a letter from my employer which was no problem. On my arrival, before entering the home there was hand sanitising stations, I wore a mask and on arrival to reception the Girl on duty was behind a screen, my room was ready and key cards were ssanitised I was very impressed also I was given an envelope and asked to read the Hotel's covid policy . . . excellent, food was available in the Bar which was music to my ear, my room was perfect, and even the TV remote was in a plastic container haven been sanitised
The staff could no have been any more helpful, haven gone for a short walk in the park across the road, I returned to have some food, excellent menu, for the time were in I went for Prawns and a Thai Curry, I was able to watch the Rugby and have a refreshment while having my dinner, excellent. My room was very comfortable barroom well sanitised. The following morning I had a long day ahead. I had an excellent Irish breakfast before checking out. All I can say it was Home from Home, thank you for all your efforts in making my stay so seamless under these very difficult times, well done take a bow, Denis Mc Carthy the GM and his team who were most helpful. I look forward to returning to your Hotel when all this nonsense is over. Keep up the good work, & thank you. Would highly recommend.

Stayed for two nights over the New Year. It was our second time staying here and we'll be back. It's a lovely hotel, in a perfect location, in the centre of Killarney.
We had a double room which was spotless, spacious and had plenty of storage. There are tea and coffee making facilities and we received complementary bottles of water on the first night. My one complaint with the room was that the safe is on the floor ( maybe not a problem for someone younger with good knees).
I can highly recommend the food in the bar and the dining room but my preference would be the menu in the bar.
Breakfast is ok as buffet breakfasts go. There is a good choice but, some items are off-putting as they are not hot enough. ( This is personal as I like my food hot) The cold meats and cheese section I'm afraid were not one bit appealing . However, you won't go hungry. Nice fruit salad, yogurt, croissants, scones etc.
I have to give credit to the staff in all areas of this hotel, they are helpful and friendly.
Overall I would recommend this hotel and look forward to my next stay.

We stayed here for the October bank holiday weekend. Service was outstanding from every staff member encountered, and we felt really welcomed and looked after throughout our stay. Thank you all!! Location is perfect, right in the town centre, yet slightly removed from the busy main streets. Parking is very restricted, but we were lucky to get what I believe was the last spot on our arrival mid- afternoon. We ate breakfast, lunch and two dinners here and all was excellent on every occasion; quality food, decent portion sizes, and nicely presented with very reasonable prices, both in the bar and dining room. Only very minor complaint we had would be that there was a very limited selection for the breakfast continental buffet, e.g. no fruit yoghurts, only natural yoghurt, limited fresh fruit. But otherwise more than adequate, and perhaps this avoids waste which is a very good thing! Selection for lunch/dinner is very extensive! Atmosphere is cosy with traditional décor! Room, although small by usual Irish hotel standards in my opinion, was very comfortable with a great bed and bedding, as well as a Jacuzzi bath. It’s not modern in style, but rather ‘old-worlde charming’ with beautiful cherrywood furniture and certainly didn’t feel dated to us. Room was spotlessly clean, as was the entire hotel.
So why only three stars? I am attaching the photos of the view from our room (115), which is nowhere near the standard we would expect from a 4 star hotel, if this had not been previously communicated e.g. sold as a room with restricted view. We had sought a quiet room, as we tend to be early to bed. The receptionist that checked us in noted that we had a quiet room at the back of the hotel but did not mention the very restricted view, looking out on withered window boxes and green mold on the exterior walls! We may be mistaken but we felt that asking for a quiet room was an opportunity to give us what must be one of the worst rooms in the hotel. There was a wedding taking place so we did hear music that evening, likely from the ballroom. This was not an issue and is part and parcel of any hotel stay, but surely if there was a genuine desire to allocate us a quiet room, we would have been better placed on the 3rd floor and not the first, where the floors would have been an extra buffer. We regretted not having sought to change rooms, but after a 3 hour drive in the rain, including a diversion, and 20 minutes sitting in Bank holiday traffic in Killarney, we were tired and hungry and just wanted to relax over some lunch, so we initially said ‘it’ll do’ and by the time we returned to the room felt that it was too late, so partly our own fault for accepting it, but should never have been allocated in the first place. Yes, we enjoyed our stay overall, and I’d stay here again in a heartbeat but I would be requesting another room!

Dear Guest, thank you for taking the time to share your feed back regarding your recent stay. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed yourselves and that you highlighted many positive aspects of your stay. Naturally we are disappointed about your comments in relation to the room allocation. The location of the hotel makes it easy to explore the attractions that the town has to offer, but as a town centre hotel we have limited number of rooms with the view of the National Park. Had we been made aware of your dissatisfaction during the course of your stay we certainly would offer you a room move to ensure you were happy and satisfied. Thank you again for your review and we hope you can visit us again in the future. Best Regards Ela Walsh

I booked the Avenue hotel via the phone because our web access was down and i must say i was very impressed with the booking teams efficiency even guiding me through to reception to book times for dinner and breakfast something i hadnt thought about in these covid times. From arriving at reception we were greeted by smiling helpful staff and that set the tone for our stay. We haven't eaten out in nearly 18 months and the chefs at the avenue did not disappoint (i would wholeheartedly recommend the sea food chowder starter it was an explosion of riotous flavours. My mouth is still watering thinking about it). The room was very clean and had all the covid measures in place , the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well considering it was the hottest days of the year so far. Everyone we met was in good spirits and maintained the new norm of social distancing. The hotels location basically in the middle of killarney was a bonus and our room was at the front but traffic noise and street noise was almost non existent. Killarney is one of my favourite spots always something new to see or do and more so now that lockdown is ending killarney is welcoming us back with open arms. To surmise the hotel was a good experience made great by wonderfully helpful staff and we will be returning there again.

As we travel alot we have stayed in a number of hotels in killarney the imperial the plaza and so on.
on arrival we noticed very limited parking out the front.
there is an underground but this was all locked up.
lady at reception was nice at check in.
receptionist and night porter were the only friendly staff.
bar staff and waitress are very cold and unfriendly.
room was clean on the surface but jacuzzi bath didn't work...air con didn't work it would only blow hot and having a room in the roof this wasn't good enough the room was boiling.
we left the window open all night.
we ate in the bar and the food was good.
when we went to pay the bill the young bar man just completely blanked us we stood for almo
st 10 mins waiting to pay.
there are much nicer spots in killarney so we wouldn't return here.

I would put this at 3 star not 4. A rowdy weekend drinking crowd with a bouncer at the door wasn't especially nice for a family to walk through. Bouncer was having a very heated discussion with someone as we walked through.
Bar food very standard and Luke warm served by rushed off their feet staff where you are clearly a number. Not overly bad just very meh.
Cooked breakfast nice but continental buffet very drab and sorry looking.
Very noisy with doors banging quite a lot. This is a busy popular hotel
Rooms average and small. Blackout curtains that don't fit so totally pointless having them room totally bright very early. Nothing wrong with the room but you certainly wont be lying back chuffed in the lap of luxury. Single beds small very low water pressure in taps.
Also advertises car parking but it fills up fast so we couldn't get in at any point after asking several times. We used nearby car parking and had to get up early to feed the meter each morning. Same with three other groups we spoke to. Never any available
Staff very nice and location excellent.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review which we appreciate the feedback, even though we are disappointed to read that your stay was not entirely satisfactory. Your comments about the bedrooms and the bar food/ breakfast buffet have been passed on to our General Manager and Head Chef for their attention. In relation to the parking we do advertise limited parking and this is based on a first come first served basis and unfortunately the weekend was very busy and we are sorry you couldn’t be accommodated. Due to covid regulations on indoor dining our outside dining area was very busy with locals and visitors to Killarney, and people were in high spirits hence the noise levels, this area is closed at 11pm. We never have security (bouncers) on reception or bar doors, but in the event of unruly behavior we have the facility to call on security personnel, unfortunately as you made your way back to the hotel we had such an incident which was dealt with in a professional manner with the offending party leaving the property Thank you for acknowledging our friendly staff in the Avenue. Thank you again for your feedback. Regards Ela Walsh

This is a lovely hotel situated in the centre of Killarney. Staff could not do enough for you and genuinely so so friendly. Rooms are lovely but a bit dated and personally found them smaller that most hotels. Beds are very comfortable. You get a great breakfast with plenty of fresh bread and croissants, fresh fruit, cereals & juice then the main full Irish or alternatives such as Vegetarian or Waffles. The only thing I found with the waffles was they were very very sugary and did not enjoy as I was just eating lumps of sugar. Another down side is parking as its very limited (but this was expected as its advised at the time of booking) even mid-week but there is a public car park a few mins walk which is 1euro an hour and only charges from 8.30am - 6.30pm so max 10euro a day.

We stayed here for one night to start off our honeymoon. Absolutely delighted we did. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There was a lovely welcome gift left in our room which was very nice. The hotel is absolutely spotless and the beds are some of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in, even some 5 star hotel bed havent been as comfortable.
The breakfast was absolutely beautiful no pancakes matched the ones their on the rest of our trip.
The bar is the right amount of lively in the evening and the location is perfect, value for money is fantastic. Would highly recommend to people. Thanks very much.

Stayed two nights at the Kilarney Avenue Hotel and have to say the staff were amazing, so friendly nothing was too much trouble. We arrived early on the Friday afternoon and room wasn't ready but the recptionst gave us a phone call when it was. We had dinner here on the Friday and everything was exceptional great service and food was really good. We felt very comfortable with the Covid procedures in place etc. Breakfast was good and everything was hot and plentiful, good choice on buffet and hot items. We attended a wedding on the Saturday in the hotel and again it was all very well organised with plenty of staff and food was very good. The room we stayed in was small and dated as was the hotel in general but really clean and bang in the middle of the town. We hire didnt do the bicycle hire which was included in the package and we were refuned the difference, so we appreciated that.
