Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I was looking for an affordable hotel with free parking close to the town and the Castlelodge delivered. The young lady who greeted us upon our arrival made us feel very welcome. I asked about a Ring of Kerry tour for the next morning and she gave us her recommendation and even called the place and made a booking for us. The friendly waitstaff served a tasty Irish breakfast. There were a few other options for breakfast if one did not want the Irish breakfast. The location was perfect for what I wanted. Easy to find and just on the edge of the town. It was a 5 minute walk to the town so I didn't need to worry about driving and parking. Killarney is a great town for walking. A right turn outside of the hotel parking lot led us to Killarney National park and Muckross House. The only downside is that we found the beds a bit uncomfortable for our liking.

V.friendly staff who gives a great welcome. location couldnt be better for walking into town, approximately 5 mins walk & there's free parking. Rooms are an adequate size. We did find the room excessively warm that night but otherwise i couldn't fault them - its a reasonably priced guesthouse.

Room Tip: Request a room at the back - although in fairness our room was at the front & it was fine.

Attractive from outside, but the room was very small and pokey. It was clean in a fashion. The bathroom was small and the shower had just a trickle of water coming out of it, so it was difficult to wash the soap off. Probably the worst shower I have known for a long while. There never seemed to be anyone on reception. When we returned after being out for the day found a room card key in the door. Anyone could have gone in and taken something. When we complained the next day, the receptionist just said oh that must have been the cleaner. Not really security conscious, as the door is just left open for anyone to walk in and no-one ever on reception. Worst hotel of all we stayed in during our trip to Ireland at a price of a 100 euros.

Third visit to this B&B over a good number of years, but it keeps getting better every time we go here, This time we got a room at the back which was recently refurbished by the looks of it. It was a huge space with 4 beds so this probably was a family room for just the two of us. Our parents were in another room, at the front which was also large enough and nicely decorated. Beds are good and comfortable. Coffee, tea and cookies available in the room. Nice, spotless clean bathroom with good shower, although small in comparison to the overall size of the room. a good quality breakfast was served by very friendly personnel which made the whole experience (again) very satisfying. Even though this is a specific business-ran B&B without the personal touches of the owner, I wouldn't look for another place in Killarney anymore, also because this B&B is just a 3 minute walk away from the city-centre...

Great location just outside Killarney town. Quiet but still within walking distance (5min) to the restaurants/shops/station. The staff there are still super friendly. The breakfast was fantastic and the view from the dining room was also great.

easy to find, good parking, excellent breakfast and easy walking distance to Killarney town centre. We were not keen ourselves on Killarney - not sure what it was all about - but this was an excellent stop over to find out. Room was a bit too warm for us but no real complaints. Good value for Killarney

Stayed here for a week in May. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was amazing - portions were huge. Our room was on the ground floor and was very clean and comfortable. There was a slight smell of drains in the bathroom, but opening the window cleared this quite well. Castlelodge is very well situated for the town. Restaurants, shops and pubs are all a five minute walk away. The guesthouse is on the main road to the lakes and the sights of the Ring of Kerry, so very convenient for touring. It has its own car park, which can be busy.

Wonderful staff and easy check in. Excellent location in Killarney. But it was way too cold for me. There was NO heater. I was there first week of January last year. I can't tell enough about how nice the staff were. Irish people are the most wonderful people I have ever met on my solo trips.
