There are so many options in Killarney it's difficult to choose. The staff was helpful before I even got to Ireland. The train station is a short walk. The location is central to shopping, tours, restaurants and bars. The complimentary breakfast was an added surprise and delicious.
We (mature couple) have stayed in Killarney many times but this was our first time using the Old Weir Lodge. We cannot speak highly enough about it. Large comfortable room, comfortable bed, hot breakfast cooked to order. Fresh scones were even brought to our table at breakfast by the original proprietress, who claims to be retired but still bakes. Staff were lovely and had time to chat. We will definitely use the Old Weir Lodge on our next visit to Killarney.
Despite the outside appearance, it feels more like a hotel on the inside. For the price, it punches above its weight and feels classy with traditional décor without feeling stuffy. While I found all breakfasts in Ireland to be good but similar in quality, this one was unique in that it had a larger amount of choices in the cold buffet. This is addition to the standard fare hot meal option that is cooked to order. Breakfast also feels classier since the tables have white tablecloths. Location is decent, maybe 10 minutes walk north into town. Maybe the only con is they don't appear to allow early check in at all despite availability. I showed up at 1pm with with only one car in the guest parking lot and the clerk without even asking me for my name or checking their computer told me to come back later. Not a big deal, but it's good to be aware of places that have a no early check in policy. And who knows maybe everyone had just left and the clerk knew no clean rooms were available.…
We had the loveliest room in old weir lodge when we stayed as part of our Ireland trip. We love the breakfast. The porridge with Bailey cream was my daughter favorite The kippers was my favorite. The room was well equipped. Love that the amenities were placed strategically for us to use. Definitely recommending it to friends
Gerard Scott, from Killarney Guided Tours, recommended this accommodation for our 3 nights in Killarney. The staff went out of their way to welcome us, provide dining options as well as making dining and entertainment reservations. The breakfasts were delicious. The room was large and very comfortable. The walk into Killarney town was very easy…only 10 minutes! We would highly recommend The Old Weir to anyone traveling to Killarney.
This place was a treasure for us. We needed a triple room and it was very spacious. We had a train delay and the front desk late at night was so friendly and marked a map for us to get the most in for our 2 days. We also took in a night cap in the lodge room/bar. FYI in that room we could not use the internet. Brick wall made it a challenge. Breakfast was wonderful and such a pleasant room to enjoy it. To the Family…..thank you from our hearts.
Excellent service throughout. Noreen at the reception desk was friendly and great fun. The staff in the dinning room (breakfast) were lovely and very accommodating. Breakfast was very good and would suit a variety of tastes. Our room was excellent, very spacious and clean. They have a bar and a lovely lounge. The drink prices are very reasonable. It was in an ideal position to walk into town approximately 1km. Would confidently recommend.
Just checked out of the Old Weir Lodge after spending the weekend here with family for the Rally of the Lakes and I can’t recommend it enough. Noreen and Niall were the perfect host. Niall had breakfast ready to go Sunday morning at 5 for us ready to head to Moll’s Gap. Rooms were warm, clean and very comfortable and breakfast this morning was amazing. The ladies went out of there way to make sure the children had everything they need especially the waffles. Would highly recommend anyone to spend time here. Thanks everyone and we will most definitely be back real soon. Thanks again for the perfect staycation. Catriona Cunningham room 127 and room 116.
The friendliest, most helpful staff! Comfortable, spacious room and bathroom. Excellent breakfast. The location is convenient. We walked into town and also to Ross Castle. Great value. I’m so glad I found this place for a stay in Killarney.
From check in to check out our stay here was fantastic. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was really big, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Ideal location and so close to the town and amenities. Breakfast was served at great time (8am to 10am) and was delicious
