Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Friars Glen was everything I expected it to be and more. John and Mary were fantastic hosts and gave us lots of great tips on how to maximize our time in Killarney and Dingle. The setting is stunning and the grounds are immaculate. The B&B is just a short drive from Killarney town center and Muckross Abbey and House / Gardens. The breakfasts were amazing - especially the scones and banana fritters! Thanks John and Mary for an unforgettable stay!

My wife and I have visited many B&Bs in Europe and the US. Friars Glen rates as one of the best. The room was spacious. The grounds were beautiful. The inn was very comfortable with a nice fire welcoming you in the evening when you return. The breakfasts were served in a room overlooking the beautiful back yard. And they were delicious. John and Mary were very helpful and made us feel at home. This is a first rate B&B. I

This place gets top marks for hospitality, food, cleanliness, and ambient charm, both inside and out. Oh, and the rooms are wonderfully big. It felt like a warm hug. There are two comfortable rooms in which to read and an inviting fire in the evenings. The grounds are spacious and well-groomed with floral displays that beg to be photographed. You won't be disappointed with this charming B and B.

John and Mary were incredible hosts for our 3 night stay. They were very welcoming and accommodating. Mary went above and beyond giving us information about attractions in the area and laundry services in town. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast was delicious 😋

Location great. Garden lovely. Cozy and spacious and clean accommodations. Free parking. Marvelous and plentiful breakfast. You could say this of other places, true….but they do not have MARY. We’ve been traveling in Iceland and Ireland for the past month. We’ve stayed in fancy places and yurts. But there has been NO ONE quite like Mary. Helpful, kind, funny, simply a wonderfully charming Irish hostess who will be one of my fondest memories of our journey here. She is what traveling is truly about! She is why this Inn has a 5 star rating with 1700 reviews! Go, stay, and have a marvelous conversation with Mary!

Well our trip is coming to an end here in Killarney, our 2nd stay at Friars Glen but it sure won’t be our last. Exactly like last time, a FANTASTIC stay. Mary and John are the sweetest souls! Always there for anything you need. Best breakfast myself and my partner have ever had anywhere that we have traveled and myself and my partner have done our fair share. Deer on the lawn at breakfast, and wandering the grounds during the evening. Beautiful room, comfy bed, clean bathroom with bath and shower (we have used both). There is just something so special about this place, a lot to do with the people who own it. John greeted us on our first day and remembered us from the previous time we stayed. We loved that, you don’t get that at a lot of places. Always a nice chat to be had with them during breakfast or should you be needing suggestions of places to go or directions they are ALWAYS happy to help. Another member of the Friars Glen family were there to greet us most mornings too, that would be Roma the family dog! Who is the cutest most playful, well behaved dog I’ve met - we fell in love with Roma too!!! Thank you so much for a beautiful stay and we can’t wait to come back next year. I will miss the views of the mountains each morning but feel blessed and grateful we were lucky enough to experience the wonder of Friars Glen again. See you in 2023 !!! All the best. Aidan and Elizabeth.

WHAT A BREAKFAST! Started the days off right with a hearty breakfast. Deer out in the back yard at night and also in the field down the street. Very comfortable room. QUIET. Great access to drive the Ring of Kerry, Muckross House, etc.

Mary is the crown jewel of Killarney. She was friendly, quick to help, and always available. Friar's Glen was clean and cozy. John made sure to check on the fire in the evening and greet guests with the same warmth as Mary. We wished we would have spent more than 2 nights here. Such a beautiful property and sweet stay. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Killarney.

Fabulous hospitality and welcoming hosts is really what made this a 5 star experience. Rooms were dated and old fahioned but spotlessly cleaned daily. Breakfast was good and nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. Would definitely return!

Our stay at Mary and John's B & B couldn't have been any better! Mary was so welcoming and was so helpful with the tips that she gave about the area. They could write the book on what it takes to run a fabulous bed and breakfast! Thank you so much Mary and John!
