Detailed Reviews
Visited this hotel aug 2nd for 2 night stay. Had booked deluxe room but on entering room it was standard room. I went to reception desk to say I didn’t get the deluxe room I requested but was told it was deluxe room. On day 2 I went to reception again and this time I was told it was standard room was offered deluxe room but I declined as it was too much hassle moving all our stuff but was given €20 refund. When I booked deluxe was €292 and standard was €264 so didn’t get proper refund but on saying that I can’t fault the hotel otherwise the food was really good the hotel was clean and the staff were really nice and very noticeably all overworked. The hotel was packed and especially at breakfast staff run off their feet trying to keep everyone happy. On website it state complimentary tray but none available was told they were removed due to Covid 19 but could buy tea at bar and take up to room so what’s the difference??. Should have complimentary tea/coffee on arrival at least.

+1
We chose to stay here because of the ideal location in killarney and its close proximity to the town.
We really liked how everything was managed and felt very safe staying here during our staycation.
When we arrived Jackie at reception was very pleasent and very helpful in giving tips about eating out in killarney during covid19.
We were given a table for dinner in the hotel bar Danny Mann and again social distancing guidelines in place and felt very safe. Staff were very attentive and nothing was a problem. Food was nice too.
When we asked at reception for extra pillows for our room they sorted us out straight away even though it was 10pm. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable which is all I really look for.
Again breakfast was delicious, social distancing done well.
The two managers we met were very helpful and very kind and the staff in the hotel and bar including barman Simon were very chatty and helpful.
I would recommend this hotel for a stay especially if you're looking for a safe staycation during these strange times.

Dear Cat, Of course we, like many other businesses were apprehensive regarding re-opening, but how heartening to read your review knowing you felt very safe, both in our Hotel and in the adjoining Bar and Restaurant where social distancing guidelines were being adhered to. We are delighted to know that all our staff training during lockdown is being put to use with valued guests just like yourself. I am happy to hear that your requests were answered to promptly. I am even happier to read the line that staff were very attentive and nothing was a problem. Jackie and Simon were delighted to read your kind words and they said to pass on their thanks! Thank you again for such a lovely review, Kind regards, Kris.

I stayed in the Eviston House Hotel on Saturday the 18th of June, we ate in the pub and had great service from Emma Rose. The food was fantastic, I really enjoyed my starter. My only down fall of the whole experience was that I was eating there with my friend and my partner was running late he was refused entry to the pub even though there was a space booked for him at the table which we were at. Even though he was registered as a resident of the hotel. Should be made clear that there is no residence bar, thought it was very pointless even though the bar was nearly empty at 10:30pm we couldn’t go in to the bar to have a drink, I’d understand if the room was at full capacity which it wasn’t at that time.

We will be checking out of The Eviston Hotel today and I wish we could stay for longer. We are in killarney, a couple with a 17 year old daughter and a mother. This hotel is right in the centre of Killarney surrounded by shops and attractions. The Hotel is spotlessly clean. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are smallish but adequate. The food in the hotel is delicious, we ate lunch and dinner here and besides how tasty the food was, we were pleasantly surprised with the bill for such quality and in such a central tourist location. The staff from Reception to the breakfast room and the restaurant/bar are the nicest, most friendly and down to earth people we've met and in such times with Covid 19 were also professional and made us feel welcome and safe. As we have family in Kerry this is not our first visit to the Eviston Hotel and it will certainly be the chosen destination for our future trips. A huge thank you to all. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Amanda, thank you so much for your 5 star review. We are delighted you found our staff to be friendly and approachable. We are indeed very lucky with our location right on the doorstep of all Kerry has to offer. The food in our adjoining Bar and Restaurant, The Danny Man, has always been a big selling point with our guests and most certainly is very reasonably priced. We look forward to welcoming you back once again when you are down to visit your family. Again, thanks for your review. Kris.

Myself and my partner had booked 3 nights here for our staycation in Ireland. First problem was no free parking, we specifically booked this hotel as it is advertised as having free parking this is very limited and only fits around a dozen cars, for the capacity of the hotel this is ridiculous, we had to pay €1 per hour for parking in a public car park around the corner. Annoying on the first morning my partner had to make sure the meter was topped up before 8.30am for fear of getting a ticket!
Our first room was a standard double on the third floor it was small, dusty and had a musty smell, I also then noticed black mould in the corner of the window after noticing this we requested to change rooms. The staff issued us a new room right away on the second floor, slight improvement but still the room was tired looking and the furniture could do with updating, ie loose knobs on wardrobe and chairs had cracks in the legs etc, windows not clean mould in the silicone.
That night we got hardly any sleep it was so noisy, the walls are very thin everything can be heard, guests were practically shouting in the hall and in the room above we could hear every step taken and each time they used the toilet or snored. At this stage we were actually looking to get a refund and find new accomodation but as we booked through a third party site it was difficult to arrange over the weekend so we decided to get on with it.
We mentioned our concerns to the receptionist who was very apologetic, we moved rooms again and were given an upgrade for our last night, this room was much better, had a comfier bed and in a quieter part of the hotel, the catch on the window was broke and it would not open it was so stuffy I actually ended up having to wedge a card into the back of the handle in order to open it to let air in! The bathroom had a whirlpool bath which was lovely but only downfall was the door of the bathroom was dirty from hand marks, there was also black scuff marks on the walls in the room and a stain on the curtains but in general big improvement from the last two.
We had food in the Danny Mann bar on two nights and it was lovely and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is in a great location as it is very central and the staff are very nice but the standards of the rooms could definitely be improved upon and free parking should not be advertised.

Starting with the best thing about this hotel is its location.. thats it.
When booking we were told check in is from 14:00. After a long journey we arrived at 15:30 only to be told that our rooms would not be ready for at least another hour until 16:30, they would not let us keep our bags in the lobby or any side room so we had to wander around the town for an hour exhausted with our bags.
When we finally got to our room, in the bathroom there was a roll of toilet paper that was covered in black dust as if it had been sitting there for months, the carpets were smelly and dusty and after having a shower and using the towels provided I noticed they were covered in stains and had holes also when we opened our window the handle fell off.
We went to reception and asked for fresh towels which were sent to our room an hour and a half later with threads hanging out of them but no stains!
The staff are so rude and are not polite there is no customer service etiquette enforced at all.
The first evening we were there we were tired so decided to have dinner in the hotel only to be told that they had no room for their paying guests to have dinner until 10pm that night. Who has dinner at 10?!
There were plenty more things that was frustrating but I would advise on not staying here unless your willing to settle for a 3 star Hotel thats more like a 1 star Hostel whilst paying extortionate rates.
I'm not a Karen just a pissed off customer who won't be back.

Worst hotel I ever stayed in !. The room was filthy which you would think would be spotless and sterile due to the pandemic. The floors were full of sweet rappers and dirt. There was blood on my pillow and sheets!. Beds are really bouncy and one one flat pillow per bed. No tea coffee or kettle in the room even though it’s advertised and we stayed in a delux room. The bathroom didn’t have shower gel shampoo etc so make sure you bring some. And no Netflix or anything like that on the tv so be prepared to watch rte for your entire stay. There is NO parking you have to park at the back of the hotel in a public car park and pay for parking !. Also WiFi is terrible so make sure you have 3G. Kitchen fans were also below our room so was very noisy. Also not enough sockets in the room if you have iPads phones etc to be charged there was only 2 in a family room. We paid 350 euro for a family room for 3 nights and never again wasn’t worth it! Shop around there are plenty of hotels in Killarney!!

While the front desk staff were friendly and polite, the overall experience was the worst by far of our 2 week holiday.
I wish we had looked at more recent reviews before choosing this hotel which are a far more accurate description of the place. Our room was similar to a sauna and impossible to sleep with the heat regardless of leaving a window open all day, it was horrible. There was no air. At about 2am on our second night having not slept with the horrible sticky heat i decided to go to reception for a fan. This was closed with a note to find the night porter which i couldn't. We had to take a cold shower in order to cool down somewhat. At this point the noise became so much louder from the corridor outside our room and the adjoining rooms. It was worse than anything I've ever experienced in a hostel; people were banging on our door and screaming at the top of their voices. While I know noisy residents is not a reflection of the hotel itself, surely this is the job of a night porter to maintain quiet for the sake of the other guests? This continued for hours just getting louder and it was at least 5am before we managed to get some sleep.
I have never left a negative review and take no joy in doing so but this hotel is not deserving of its current rating.
Side note: free parking is advertised but be prepared to park in the public car park which is very close but €1 an hour from 8.30-5pm. I felt sorry for the girl on the front desk who had to repeat this about 10 times to different guests while we were waiting for our room to be ready. (from what I could tell rooms are not ready for 4pm check in, we didn't mind the 10min wait but just another sidenote).

I felt I needed to leave feedback as I myself was a little nervous visiting the hotel after reading some previous reviews. However I cannot fault the hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful; always with a smile on their faces and a welcoming hello, the hotel was clean and orderly. Although some areas may be outdated and need modernising you get what you pay for, it is a perfect price for somewhere to lay your head whilst being in a central location. The hotel is a great base for exploring the beautiful kerry. Although we didnt eat in the restaurant for breakfast/dinner it always seemed busy. There is very limited hotel parking however there is a pay and display carpark directly behind the hotel. The parking is free on Sundays and is only in place between 8.30-6.30 mon-sat if I remember right, if your out exploring for the day like us; that won't be an issue. Will defo return to this hotel, thank you for a lovely stay!

The girl at the desk was very friendly and approachable.
We phoned the hotel as we arrived in Killarney to find out where the advertised on site free parking was, to be told we could park in a public pay and display car park behind the hotel which was €1 per hour. When booking we had specifically choose hotels with free parking as we were road tripping the west coast, and hadn’t much change to allow for long stay parking!
When we got to the hotel to check in, we were told we were given an upgrade.. we excitedly went to the room and my words to my boyfriend were ‘if this is supposed to be an upgrade, I wouldn’t like to see the previous room.’ I looked around and was getting more and more frustrated with the shape of the room- we were looking onto a brick wall, the room was dusty and dirty, and there was an exposed nail in the plug in the bathroom. There was no chair in the room and the furniture looked like it hadnt been tidied as the room was out of use.
After plucking up the courage we went and spoke to the receptionist, who was very apologetic and changed our room. We were escorted to the new room by the manager, who I wouldn’t say was overly friendly and who basically gave excuses for the room being the way it was!
The new room was slightly better, in the way of cleanliness.
There are no tea/ coffee making facilities in either room, which was also advertised!
I went to take a shower and discovered a massive hole in the towel, which proved again the low standards of the hotel.
We stayed 2 nights and the room was not serviced!
The location is great but otherwise this is not good value for money! It is beyond basic, extremely dated and not to a high standard of cleanliness, especially with how strict they are on the covid regulation e.g no residents Bar etc. I would expect better cleanliness! We hve stayed in a few places this week and this has been the worst unfortunately!
