Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Pros: 1. The staff are super. From reception to the breakfast staff to maintenance, they were very friendly, helpful, considerate and always went out of their way to ensure a pleasant experience. Whenever I asked the breakfast staff for anything, they were obliging. 2. The hotel was very clean. Well laundered sheets, no clogged sinks, spotless bathrooms and showers etc 3. It was quiet, peaceful and restful with great wifi 4. Convenient location. 5-10 mt walk to the center Cons: The rooms, especially the furniture are in desperate need of refurbishment and updating.

Back in Killarney after many years away and now staying local to the Parkavon. What a find! Lovely staff and great food...better than many 4 star establishments in town! Dined twice over the bank holiday weekend, thank you for a lovely treat (& no tricks)

Stopped in for dinner on the way to the INEC, regretted it almost immediately. Bland food and a dirty please wasnt bad enough, pink chicken wings which were so obviously frozen as the fresh ones tasted as bad as the pink ones. Would recommend avoiding at all costs.

Dear ElyG, I am sorry to read your chicken wings were not cooked to our normal high standard. The wings were cooked the day before as recorded on our digital HACCP system. I am aware you brought this to the attention of a team member and a replacement dish was served. Best wishes Stephen O' Connor General manager - The Parkavon

Dear Nadioo, It's not too cool to slam a partner publicly. As a tour guide, our hotel extends the courtesy of complimentary accommodation to you when you stayed at our hotel (t/c's). Our staff go above & beyond the call of duty to ensure your Israeli client requirements are met on each occasion. Dining times, special dietary requirements and guest porterage are always available for your clients, even when the tour guide is late reserving his preferred group dining times or the group arrival time is delayed. Our Reservations Manager has contacted the Group Agent for which you represent & the Agent is satisfied with our hotel and level of service afforded to their clients. It gives me great pleasure to share with you, our mutual Agent has just reserved a group series with The Parkavon for 2024. As a 3 star hotel, you will be delighted to know our town has an abundance of 4 star hotels which may be more suitable for you. Best wishes, Stephen O' Connor General Manager - The Parkavon

Stayed two nights while on a Cosmos British Isles tour. We ended up with a family room for just my husband and me - two bedrooms plus a living area. It was nice to have additional space. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. The room did not have AC but we did have a fan to help. The hotel did offer send out laundry service - 1 bag for 25GBP. The dinner and breakfast we had were very nice.

Hotel is in good location and we got quite huge room with living room and bed room. It was very nice besauce of we were hiking every day at Kerry Way and it was raining almost every day of that week. We had lot of space for hiking gears. Room was clean and housekeeping worked very well during our six days stay. Breakfast room or at least room were you get your breakfast is crowded, but brekfast is good. I tested hotel pub and fish n’ chips were quite good as it should be. Price and quality is good, not a luxury hotel, but good, quiet and clean place to stay.

Pros: helpful staff, clean accommodations, close to town and convenience stores. Hair dryers overheat very quickly (ask front desk for a different one). Cons: people smoke too close to the entrance, rooms are kept way too hot and windows were too covered in cobwebs to open for relief. Breakfast options were a bit lacking.

The Hotel is in a nice location close to the centre of Town with plenty of parking available. The receptionist was polite friendly and efficient. The first thing we noticed when we entered our room was that it was nicely laid out and bright. The room had an ironing board and Iron provided and also a Hairdryer. There was coffee /tea facilities available, however the cups from the last guests had not been changed and instead dirty cups remained. My wife had booked the Swimming pool on arrival and I went to the Gym with my code and key card. However I could not gain access, A member of the Staff tried to use their key and pass code but could not gain access. she went to reception to try to resolve this and came back and tried again without success. She then advised that I would not be able to use the Gym as no one could access the Gym until the maintenance team came back on duty the next day. The Gym facilities was one of the main reasons for booking the Hotel. As a result I could only use the Gym on the final day of my 3 night stay. On entering the Lift on one occassion we were cut off by a member of staff moving linen on a trolley instead of allowing us to enter the lift he told us to wait for the next one. We have travelled regularly and always found that most hotels had a Staff lift for moving linen, laundry etc. and when this was not the case they always gave priority to guests. its not a big deal but showed a lack of respect for paying guests. We were also dissapointed to find that no facility for a late drink was provided to residents. Overall the Hotel was fine and busy with tourists but it lacks the overall dynamic and attention to detail of a top class Hotel.

Dear 47derekn, I am sorry our hotel & guest service did not meet your expectations. I have spoken with Housekeeping about unclean cups in your room. Please accept my apologies. In relation to failure to access the hotel gym on one occasion: it is most likely an individual tried to access the gym with an out of date card and after multiple attempts, the locking mechanism enters into "limp mode" as a safety precaution. This lasts approx 15 minutes. The Leisure Team are now fully aware of this safety facility on the door lock. The hotel bar operates within the prohibited licensing hours and I am sorry you were unable to get a late drink during your stay. Thank you for your feedback, it is only through comments, such as your own, that we can continue to improve the level of service afforded to our guests at the hotel. Best wishes, Stephen O' Connor General manager - The Parkavon Hotel

This hotel was convenient for walking to the city center and minutes drive to nearby attractions, such as Ross Castle, golf courses, and the horse race track. Three generations of our family enjoyed our time together as we used the facilities for tasty dining, swimming in the heated pool, and chatting in the gathering areas. The rooms were spacious and clean. We will definitely be back.

Overall the hotel was nice. Lobby area was beautiful and hallways looked great. The room was spacious and bathroom clean. The carpets really need to be replaced. They were old and stained. The chairs around the table were also very dirty and needed a good steam cleaning or to be replaced. I don’t think this was typical of all rooms at the hotel, but it was disappointing. The hotel is fairly close to the center of town and is a nice 15 min walk. The bar/restaurant area was also nice. Overall it was a great stay, just hope they consider upgrading some of their rooms in the future!
