Detailed Reviews
Very clean and professional, if a bit soulless. The staff, the location and the standard of the room can not be faulted. The public room is small and can be crowded at breakfast time. However, the location is excellent. A great base to explore the area and just a short walk to a busy town centre.

The Birches is a fine property. We stayed for a few nights in early August and had a good experience. The facility is new so there are no infrastructure issues as their are in most Irish B&B's. The location is outstanding as it is 5 minutes walk from City Center but since it is just outside the center, you have no noise. We thought the value for money was excellent. Only 350 Euros for 2 nights in the peak of the summer. The host, Dave, is a very responsive and service oriented. No complaints on that front.
We would have given this a 5 star rating but for the breakfast. It's a light breakfast (a continental one really) with no hot food and served in a very drab front room. Almost feels like you are eating in a conference room with little light. I don't think there is much they can do about it since there is no room for a proper lobby/dining area and I don't think they have a kitchen.
But frankly, the price is so competitive that I would pick this again if I was looking for value. 0000000000000

Loved staying at the birches, only negative was I wish we stayed a bit longer! It had a great location. Close enough to the action of the cute downtown and fun pubs, and far enough away for a restful night sleep.
The beds and pillows were so comfy and made me feel like I was at home. Hot tea and coffee in the AM to get you going hit the spot. We had two rooms and were a family of five so one of the rooms was a family room with 3 beds. It was perfect for my teenagers. David and Monika were so lovely and we can't wait to come again and see more of the beautiful area even more! THANK YOU

My fiancé and I stayed in this lovely guesthouse for one night during our stay in Killarney. It has a perfect location, just a stone's throw away from the city center. Near the train station which makes it ideal for those who don't have a car. The room was fair enough for the size and the toilet has adequate space and not suffocating. The bed was very comfortable. In the morning time, they also offer a generous light breakfast menu of pastries, cereals, porridge, and a selection of hot drinks (plus a Nespresso machine). The staff were very friendly and accommodating the moment we arrived in the guesthouse, she gave us recommendations on where to go and where to rent bikes to the national park.
The only comment I would have would be the air conditioning? It could be a little warm and may be an issue if you're visiting during the summertime. Otherwise, superb experience. Would definitely recommend and come back. :)

We had a lovely 2-night stay at the Birches. The owner of the inn was very welcoming and friendly and the rooms were impeccable. Very comfortable beds made for a nice nights sleep. I loved the location of the hotel. It was on a road right off the main city center so it was quiet, but you could walk anywhere in the area very easily. The breakfast was light but definitely adequate for a nice meal to start the day (pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal). I highly recommend staying at The Birches on your next visit to Killaney!

Recently-opened (2020?) B&B, well-located on a quiet street just a couple of blocks from downtown Killarney. Room on 3rd floor (#10, I think) was spacious and comfortable. David was a very attentive host and went out of his way to make us comfortable - including toting luggage upstairs and serving breakfast early on departure day. Breakfast is continental, but very sufficient. (Don't need "Full Irish Breakfast" every day!) Highly recommended.

The hotel was lovely, great spacious bedroom & large open bathroom. The continental breakfast was disappointing as there was no bread for toast but the lady on Reception went to the shop for bread which she shouldn't have to, never experienced this before, she was very helpful. It would be nice to have a few a bowl of fruit with yogurt but definitely have bread.

Had an amazing stay here, stayed for two nights. The room was very impressive; I don't think I've ever slept as well which was down to the otherworldly bed. There was a nice big shower, and the bathroom mirror had a section which defogged itself so you could see yourself after your shower which I thought was very cool (it's the little things!). The lounge room was kitted out with a coffee machine, full fridge, pastries (warm croissants were to die for!!!), breads, cereals, along with a microwave, toaster etc. Friendly people too! Will 100% be returning, had a great stay.

Just back from a wonderful stay at the Birches. Everything about the Birches was perfect for me, the quietness, the proximity to Killarney town and Killarney house and gardens too. Breakfast room is small, no hot food but everything else is available, very tasty too. Would recommend the Birches for sure and I will be back there again for sure.

The staff were welcoming and kind. There were several downsides that would prevent me from staying here again. Breakfast and coffee was sparse, at best. There were no luggage racks, so your only option was the floor. The new bathrooms are large and lovely but the showers didn’t have a shelf. You had no choice but to set your soap, shampoo, etc on the floor of the shower. Beware there is no air conditioning but leaving the windows open worked. The location is lovely and with some work, could be quite nice.
