Thank you Bernadette and Sean, for letting us stay in your house. It was nice to have breakfast at a big table with other guests. Your house is a walking distance from the city, which was very lucky because when we were there it was extremely busy. At the other side of your house is the sea! And a lovely walk to Salthill. Good place to stay for a few days.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean and well presented. Not a bad spot to spend time with your family. Salthill has lots of restaurants/cafes and Bars so Kiltevna House is also handy for couples/fiends planning on having a few nights out.
Such a quaint house with lovely hosts. So warm and welcoming as well as friendly. I felt very comfortable there and the location was perfect. Lovely views in the morning and breakfast service was impeccable. Rooms are always made up and the bathrooms are clean. Also a very friendly couple!
The hosts were extremely nice and accommodating. Beds were small for double occupancy. Breakfast was very good and we loved the sunroom next to dining area. There was no lounge area in the evening for friends to gather which we found at other B&Bs.
Among the four BnBs we stayed at in Ireland Kiltevna had the largest bedrooms and showers/bathrooms so we were happy to have the extra space. It is a 10 minute walk to the city and a couple of blocks from the ocean. Bernadette keeps the house updated, she was helpful with directions to area attractions, and offered a very generous breakfast. We enjoyed being in the countryside more than downtown Galway but glad we had a great experience here.
Kiltevan B&B is a good choice for Galway since it is clean, has a nice hostess, and quiet, and close to the village. It’s about a ¼ or 500 meter walk to town village plus 2 blocks from the ocean. The only problem we had was the GPS coordinates were wrong or took you into an area and ended. Ireland does not use designated street addresses, so you use GPS coordinates. The B&B is down another block, then left down that street to the end, which is confusing since there are several B&B’s in the area. The wifi was good with good coverage, and the breakfast had several options. Although we had hot water to shower, it seemed to be shut off at night and may be limited like the old European way, so check.
A bit tricky to find the first time, but so near the Galway Bay ....Great location to the city center, walkable....very clean, and charming. Hostess was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was traditional Irish, very ample...held off our hunger until dinner....
At first I had planned for another B&B then I noticed the location of Kiltevna was near the bay. I thought this would make for nice walks. Kiltevna is in the perfect location for walking!! The bay is around the corner, Eyre Square is a 10 minute casual walk, and in the other direction is Salt Hill. The area is busy with college students and professionals alike. We stopped in for snacks at Joyce’s-don’t miss the Almond Fingers! The only negative, we smelled cigarette smoke when we walked in, not in our rooms though which were very nice.
The hostess was wonderful. Breakfast included many options and was very fresh. Room was very clean but shower and bathroom were very small. Be aware when you first enter you may smell cigarette smoke but that is confined to the owners areas. You won't notices in your room or dining area. Very short was to main part of town and beach.
We found the Kiltevna B&B very welcoming, clean & homely. Bernadette was very helpful with directions to the local supermarket and the main (pub) strip. She also makes an awesome breakfast and helped us with a taxi for our departure on the Monday as we left at 5:30am (we also left with a packed lunch for the early journey!). My partner new refers to Bernadette as her 'Galway Mammy'. Highly recommended if you ever visit Galway.
