Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Made our booking through Rory and he was so helpful and accommodating and had a lot of recommendations for where to go for food and drink etc. the room itself was so lovely overlooking shop street, Will 100% be back to stay here would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere central to stay in Galway

Ive stayed here a few times and booked a solo room. the showers are great and the beds and rooms comfy and warm. Always my first choice when staying overnight in galway. handy for last minute stays as well.

This was my 2nd visit. First time I visited i was alone and it was so great I came back with friends BUT this time the miserable rude arrogant manager was there and he ruined our stay. I won't return again until he has gone and I won't recommend to others not to mention it was a rip off €25 a night even during the week. This place clearly lacks an Irish experience and the only staff member who is Irish is Bill who is helpful and friendly. Being in this hostel you may as well be in Eastern Europe. There are no night staff so any drunk or extra guest can feel free to walk in and take a bed so lousy security at night. Common room closes at 11pm so then its go out or bed. You can not check in after 11pm either so it's too bad if your flight or bus got in late. I doubt the owner cares too much about complaints and won't change things.

I was very unhappy with how my stay turned out. I was wrongly accused of smoking and received a hefty fine which was taken straight off my card without warning. I was very disappointed with the service I received and I would not recommend staying here.

The worst experience I have ever had, I called a month before to cancel a room I was told my refund would be processed it wasnt this went on till I got there. I was told on arrival my refund had been processed it was not. After my stay they then refused to process my refund as I didnt have proof in writing of this. They then threatened to charge me €750 claiming people were smoking in rooms which was completely untrue. I requested evidence which they couldnt provide and I am still awaiting my refund. A very untrustworthy establishment, I strongly recommend not staying here.

Make sure you bring a passport or driver's licence when you go to check in, or they will cancel your booking. Nothing in the policy on their booking/com page about it, though they claimed otherwise. Poor.

We were very disappointed since the actual hostels differs from the description in many ways.
This hostel really gives the impression that all the money was invested in having a so-called "cool" design, but that no attention was paid to the basics such as proper bathrooms, beds and cooking facilities.
- First, there are no "bathrooms", only TWO small showers for the whole hostel. Ah, and one of those two is also one of the only TWO toilets. You can't adjust the temperature of the showers and the water is burning hot :(
- The dorms are clean but narrow and there is very little space between the beds (you can't even sit on your bed). There are three beds on top of each other and you really feel squeezed (the lowest bed is almost on the floor - no space under it - and the highest is so high that you can't see the top when you stand on the floor). Also, since there are no racks, everybody has to leave their bags around the room on the floor, and it quickly becomes messy.
- No breakfast is "prepared", contrary to what is mentioned on the presentation. Basically, you just have the right to help yourself on the "free food" shelf in the kitchen. However I must say that when we asked the staff, on the second day, he gave us bread and milk, but many people who didn't dare to ask just didn't have any breakfast.
- The equipment in the kitchen is really not sufficient : only ONE fridge (the size of a family fridge) for the whole hostel, and only four hobs.
Also, the kitchen closes at 11 PM. After this time, it is LOCKED, and so is your food.
- In addition to that, the staff happened to have misread our booking and so my friend (who is a guy) had to sleep in the female dorm, which was quite embarrassing for him. And on the second day, he was given contradictory instructions as to whether to move or not, which made us waste time. While the day receptionnist was rather friendly and helpful, the night staff was really unfriendly, telling us that we should be happy to have a bed at all (while we booked in advance and paid, and it was their mistake...)
On the same night, we also heard another person complain about a misunderstanding about the booking (she said the had booked over the phone for saturday but the hostel had the booking for the sunday). In this case I don't know whether it was actually the hostel's fault but what I can say is that the receptionnist was really unhelpful with this person too.
On the whole, I am not saying this hostel is hell on earth : at least it is clean. But it is definitely not the luxury they say, and the source of many hassles you'd rather avoid when you are on holidays, so I wouldn't recommend this place unless the rates are significantly higher in other hostels.

We enjoyed our stay here very much, rooms were clean and the receptionists were nice. We were surprised by an unannounced fire alarm though and the elevator did not work during our visit. The hostel is located in the heart of Galway, we would definitely come again.
