We were a bit disappointed in our stay at this B&B. While breakfast was nice and service was friendly, the room was overpriced for the location and quality. Lots of minor deferred maintenance issues, a laughably small tv, and a bathroom in need of updating. We would look elsewhere on our next trip to Galway.
We found the last half mile trying to find the Amber Hill B&B tricky. We used our iPhone GPS map but could not find the street. The roundabout exit for Cuan Glas road is not obvious. The exit looks more like a driveway to a parking lot than a road so I missed it twice. On Donna’s third call the Amber concierge/receptionist answered and was able to guide us to this correct exit on the round-a-bout. The host provided a map and advice on nearby and downtown Galway dining options. This B&B is less than two miles from downtown Galway. The room on the second floor was clean, quiet and comfortable. We heard no noises from other rooms. The view was of other houses so nothing to note. The bathroom was the most spacious and had one of the better showers. Also, the lighting was very good compared to the other B&B’s. In addition there were plenty of USB ports on either side of the bed and opposite the bed near the TV. WIFI worked well. The TV channel selection was limited but news and weather were available. We did not opt for the continental or full breakfast so I cannot offer an opinion. Overall we had a good one night stay at Amber Hill.…
The place was great. It looked like a hostel or a single family residence but felt like a hotel. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was well worth the extra 8€ per person. The bed was comfortable and it was close to downtown Galway.
Galway is one of the best cities in Ireland to visit, friendly people, lots to see and do, the room was superb clean, tidy and basically everything in there you needed, the service was excellent. The owners and family very accomadating and pleasant nothing was to much. Breakfast was second to none would definatley stay here again if visiting Galway without a second thought. Would like to thank the owners and family for one of the best stays we've ever experienced. Extremely close to city centre which is ideal. The O'Rourkes
We stayed here for three nights in a little cottage in the back. The cottage was clean and comfortable and quiet and had a small kitchen, which was convenient. The location was a bit far from the city center and other things to do, but there was a bus stop close by and cabs were easy to get. The staff was helpful with information and other requests. It was about a 10 minute walk to the bay, where there was a lovely walking/running trail along the beach and Galway Bay. I would stay here again.
We booked 2 rooms at this B&B in the suburbs of Galway. Nice neighborhood, ample parking, clean rooms, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Just be aware that it is quite a long way to walk, so you'll either want to take a car or a cab to the city center.
Enjoyed our two night stay here. Comfortable rooms and good breakfast. We got a break on the breakfast price because we stayed two nights. Rooms were neat and comfortable. Parking was convenient. Note that you can't walk to anything from here easily. Good restaurant recommendations. Very friendly and accommodating hosts.
Lovely stay with friendly staff. Recommend it highly. Would stay again no prob. Clean, quiet and lovely breakfast. Good value as well. We stayed in room for 4 and had plenty of space left. Nice hot shower and lovely sitting areas to relax.
Great place to stay , friendly staff , good location , very spacious room for 3 people , very good value breakfast to suit everyone . If I had one to to give it would be not to order breakfast when booking , they tend to offer you a deal on arrival 😉 overall great value for money and they had no problem when we asked to stay another night . I would recommend to anybody, and I will go again .
This B&B is not really that close the Galway or the beach. It is out of the way from any shopping or dinning. Be prepared for a very long walk or drive or bus or taxi. Breakfast is not included but offered for additional fee. The rooms are small but very clean. The mattress was of poor quality and I could feel and hear the springs. It does not qualify for a 4 star rating. The breakfast staff was very nice.
