#9 of 205 in Galway
In Galway City Centre The Herons Rest lies nestled on the banks of the river Corrib overlooking the traditional Claddagh harbour. We operate the strictest cleanliness and hygiene measures for your protection. This idyllic waterside location is only 3 mins from the hustle and bustle of the centre of town and the 'craic' of Galway's Latin Quarter. In season 2021 we are offering our two twin houses each as a self-catering property which can be booked as individual units for groups or families. Town house 16 house sleeps 5 with 3 sea view bedrooms, whilst next door Town house 16a sleeps 5 in two king size sea view rooms, one with single bed also, and offers a secluded loft living room. Gourmet breakfast provisions are included in your stay when booking directly through our website. Parking available on request. Each room in the houses have stunning views overlooking the Claddagh Harbour and the famous Galway Bay. Outside the water is teaming with wildlife such as, otters, herons and the largest colony of mute swans in Western Europe. Traditional sailing boats named 'Galway Hookers' can be watched setting sail from your bedroom window. We offer outdoor seating so you may enjoy the riverside and watch the sun go down on Galway Bay. We believe there is no better place to stay in Galway. Enjoy our little hideaway in the heart of it all.

The absolute highlight of a one week vacation in Ireland. I stayed here for 2 nights back in 2017 and am just getting around to writing a review, but it was just that memorable! Sylvia and the man who worked here (I'm so sorry I didn't save your name!) were absolutely lovely and helpful recommending various places to visit in Galway. The man also cooked wonderful breakfasts every morning. The room itself was very clean and nice. I had the room at the top where they also filmed the Ed Sheeran MV for Galway Girl. It was so cute, clean, and cozy and the opening for the balcony is such a fantastic view. The only downside was the light that would come through the hallway at night, so if you're sensitive to light like I am, make sure you bring an eye mask!

Hi There, isn't that just so wonderful that you stayed in 2017 and 4 years later you have posted a really positive review. Peter and Sylvia will be delighted to think you have such fond memories of your stay. We are no longer offering B&B but have changed our style of accommodation to self catering and provide a gourmet breakfast hamper for each of our guests. The top floor bedroom where you stayed is now a spacious lounge and we have installed a stove and a projector for guests to enjoy. I hope you can visit again we really do enjoy welcoming guests back to show them all our improvements and help them enjoy all our location has to offer, take care until then, Sorcha

My friends and I spent 2 nights in this wonderful acommodation. It is very cleverly designed and the house has such beautiful character. It is very spacious and each floor has its own bathroom. It is set in an ideal location being right in city centre just looking out at Claddagh. It is in pristine condition and covid regulations are adhered to which is great to see. I would highly recommend Heron's Rest.

Having stayed in Galway many times, I finally found the perfect location! We adored being right on the waterfront in the heart of the city. An oasis of calm around the corner from the bustling heart of the city. We had a baby and appreciated the ease of access to the main thoroughfare (under 5 min walk), as well as the fact we could nip home for a quick power nap with ease(!) Galway is such a city for walking, it really pays off to be located near the epicentre we found. Everything was only a stroll away. The rooms are well appointed, all with fantastic waterfront views and extremely comfy beds. The house was spotless throughout. We wanted for nothing during our stay and found the owner, who checked us in, extremely solicitous to our needs. We will let you be surprised by the extra thoughtful touches and not describe them! :)

We had a wonderful family break at Herons Rest. The house has fantastic view and couldn’t be in a better location for Galway city. It was spotlessly clean and was extremely well equipped. We look forward to returning again soon.
