Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Joan was extremely rude to myself and my husband while having breakfast in front of the other guests after telling her that unfortunately we did not have any hot water. Another guest also said the same thing. While we ate a fairly average breakfast she took it upon herself to go to our room without asking to apparantly see what we had done wrong which was nothing of course. She also wanted to take my credit card out of my sight to process the payment of 130 euro no mention of a slight reduction because of the water. I do not recommend at all have given 1 point because i couldn't give negative.

Joan-i just hope u have energy left for my family when we return in near future. Your place is what BB should be and your breakfast and story's are worth to wait. Periwinkle is Galway. Its a short walk away from Galway center and the place is cleaner than most of top hotels!

Joan was welcoming and had great tips for a few fun things to add to our list of "must do" when in Galway. She booked a show for us, Trad on the Prom, and it was awesome! The room was clean and updated with a connected bathroom and breakfast was delicious! Also, perfect walking distance to Quay Street as well as for a walk on the coast. Highly recommend!

Five of us stayed at this wonderful bead and breakfast and loved it. The location is great, just steps away from the shoreline where there is a nice walking path. It is also within walking distance from Galway’s city centre. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and our hostess very friendly and helpful. No problems with parking and good wi fi signal. Would highly recommend this place.

The room was spacious, neat and tidy, but there was problem in connecting the wifi service. The wide choice of breakfast was prepared by Joan. It was the best breakfast we had had throughout our trip. We would highly recommend this B&B to you.

Our hostess was friendly, very accommodating letting us check in very early. Great room with extra little touches that meant so much. Wine glasses n corkscrew in room! The house is just gorgeous with many treasures. We loved Joan, she is fantastic. Breakfast excellent and plentiful. Out of town half way between Galway and Salthill. Need a car but so peaceful and homely. Can’t recommend it enough

Lovely b&b about 30mins walk along the seafront in to the centre of Galway. Joan the owner couldn’t have been more helpful with little tips for our days out away from the hotel. Our room upstairs was really nicely furnished and had a tv. If there’s one little gripe, it’s that you choose your breakfast the day before for the next morning, which is fine, but it was obvious that the sausages on the Irish breakfast had been cooked the day earlier and then left overnight, as they were really hard and chewy.

The location of this place is great....within ten minutes walking to the city center along the beautiful Galway bay, but far enough from everything that you feel peaceful and relaxed. You can walk along the prom to the city center or to Salt Hill easily. The place is clean and the rooms were nice with a lot of attention to detail. Unbelievable breakfasts with large portions and plenty of choices. Joan and Rose were helpful and friendly. We would stay there again.

Our family of 5 had 2 rooms for only one night. The home is very clean and the location is walking distance into Galway City and Salthill along the Prom. The rooms are so pretty, clean and comfortable. the breakfast was wonderful, with a choice of a few items, which was nice for our 9 year daughter. We did not arrive til evening and did call Joan with our arrival time, which was helpful. I had left some items behind accidentally, and I emailed Joan and she mentioned she would be sending back to me, which is very nice of her.

I booked 2 nights at the Periwinkle B&B. Unfortunately, we arrived around 7 pm and the owner gave our room away. We didn't realize that there was a set check in time. We found other accommodations for the first night. The second night we stayed at Periwinkle and it was clean and comfortable in the room. Just beware of the check in times. I notice a few other people had this same experience. Everything else was fine.
