It's a 4* hotel but with less than 4* service and food; the staff are gently considerate but not optimally trained. The food is plentiful but 3* at best. The breakfast is poor: you have to order the Full Irish, but it is not cooked to order and comes lukewarm from being stored somewhere in a warmer in the kitchen.
Poor quality. Poor service. Shocking staff. Not good enough for the price you are paying. Did not receive breakfast the next morning. No hot water in the shower for both days and the pillows were stained in the room.
What a delightful surprise the Hardiman hotel turned out to be! The location could not have been any better - right across the street from Eyre square and immediately next to the train station. Our rooms looked right out onto the square which was lovely both day-and-night. There was only a small amount of street noise when my window was open, but the hotel was very quiet. Each room was unique- my bedroom was smaller than my sister's but my bath was larger. I had a large rainshower head shower and she had a beautiful tub. Front desk did a great job of spacing guests throughout the hotel, so as to reduce noise and congestion. The front desk staff was superb! Super efficient yet friendly and charming and eager to offer assistance. Our Winter room rate included dinner each night as well as the breakfast. We were very impressed with all of our meals! The breakfast had all of the continental breakfast items one would expect in addition to Hardy hot items. The pancakes, egg white & spinach omelet, avocado toast, Fresh fruits, juices and yogurt were our favorites. Dinner in the Gaslight Brasserie and the Oyster bar were phenomenal! We dined there 3 nights and enjoyed every single thing we had. The linguini with prawns and courgettes was so good I had it twice and we also enjoyed the steak, miso salmon, persian salad, and the best broccoli side dish ever! Desserts were a Little disappointing with the exception of the rhubarb and Apple crumble. Starters and desserts were included in our free dinner - what an unbelievable bargain! A number of local residents dined here, and we did not feel we could have gotten a better meal anywhere else in town. Cocktails in the Oyster Bar are creative and delicious, and the wine list was very good. If I returned to Galway I wouldn't stay anywhere else - in fact this place was good enough to earn a trip on its own! …
We were made feel at home from start to finish. One of the best short breaks we've had in recent years. We took the train down from Dublin which meant we were minutes away from the Hotel. This made everything so much easier to manage.
I was looking forward to staying in this hotel as I had noticed it many times on visits to Galway. Lovely historical building in a great location. Unfortunately services and food didn't match. Staff didn't seem to have the experience necessary. Cleanliness not great. Was it end of season fatigue?
Wonderful property in the heart of Galway. I have a "gra" for older hotels & the Hardiman won't disappoint on that front. Room sizes & ceiling heights were great & oodles of charm. Would love to see the pool open again & there is room for improvement with the breakfast. Hotel has the potential to be a 5*.
perfect location. excellent service amazing food and the staff are first class super helpful. could not find any fault with the hotel and would highly recommend for your next stay in Galway city. nothing to improve .
Did not enjoy my stay whatsoever, had a bad experience in our room with a sewerage or waste odour. Service in bar and restaurant was quite poor. Expensive night considering how poor the experience was.
Not a regular writer of reviews but had to this time. We did stay in a very comfortable room with a wonderful view- paid well for this but worth it. On both mornings though our breakfasts were totally substandard! My avocado toast was inedible. The avocado was out of a tub for sure-Stomach churning! My husbands eggs benedict was cold and totally unappetising. This morning the queue for breakfast was long and slow. The restaurant was totally understaffed obviously. Even though we booked a time on check in it was all clearly mismanaged! The first scrambled egg breakfeast presented to my husband was cold. We sent it back. Exactly the same was presented again. Appalling food considering the price. On checkout the queue was 30 minutes long. A solitary receptionist kept her cool. It was clear that there was no proper manager on duty! We will not be returning to this hotel.…
Don't normally do reviews but given the price of hotel and good reviews I thought I'd just say to start check in was great ambient of hotel was great and room lovely, but unfortunately the breakfast quality of service and full irish breakfast that was put out was the worst ever, dried up egg cold, went back for same reasons 3 times, in the end walked out, reception were very apologies and gave refund, but given this was our first time hear and surprise birthday get away don't think we will be stopping here anytime soon
