Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great location, close enough to the action to be easily walkable, but still fairly quiet. Clean. Breakfast plentiful. Hosts welcoming and polite. Not too fancy, but doesn't pretend to be. This is a sure, very safe bet. Only warning I can think of: if it's warm, no fans or AC.

Stayed in St Judes with 10 others as part of a Hen's weekend package. Place was clean and beds very comfortable. Owners were so accommodating and friendly and even stored our luggage post check out. We had access to tea and coffee making in the bedrooms and also in the dining room...which we thoroughly appreciated. Very good choice of breakfast too. Overall we were all happy and would recommend it again.... 🙂

St. Jude's Lodge in Galway turned out to be the best place we stayed during our 10 days in Ireland. I am so glad I stumbled on it while searching for a place to stay in Galway. The owners - twin brothers, Sean and Donal - were a delight to deal with from start to finish - from booking the reservation - i called from the U.S. and spoke to Donal - to every minute of our three-night-stay. The location is excellent - walking distance to everything in Galway/ (NOTE - do not book the St. Jude's in Salthill by mistake - that is very out of the way). This small lodge was much more enjoyable than staying at a large hotel and the owners literally will do anything to try to make their guests happy. One morning at breakfast I casually asked if they had any peanut butter. They said they were all out, but five minute later two jars of peanut butter were placed on my table - smooth and crunchy - because one of the owner had rushed out to a nearby store. The beds were super comfortable, the full Irish breakfast was hearty, and Sean and Donal are five star hosts. They also are happy to help you plan tours or solve sightseeing problems. The central location was wonderful because our two adult sons could easily walk back to the lodge after visiting the pubs, (after mom and dad had turned in early.) Many of the other visitors appeared to be stopping in Galway for just one night. I recommend you do as we did and spend several days in Galway and really experience it. Thank you Sean and Donal - I hope to see you - and Galway - and St. Jude's Lodge - again

Spent 2 nights here with friends. We chose St.Judes as it was close to the city centre (short walk to the Latin Quarter with some great pubs on the way) and had parking and we weren't disappointed. We didn't realise there are actually 2 properties and we had been allocated rooms in the 2nd house. Wasn't a problem as is a minutes walk to the main house for breakfast and there is parking out front. Think this may have been cos our party had 3 rooms and the lower floor in the 2nd house has 3 bedrooms (all ensuite but also an additional bathroom). So perfect for us. The rooms are snug but was for sleeping not sitting around in so not an issue, and the rooms are spotlessly clean with tea/coffee, hairdryer, TV, toiletries - everything you'd expect really. Breakfast is served in the main house and was quite busy but it felt like a friendly family breakfast and we didn't have to wait for anything. Good choice, from a help yourself cooked breakfast (with everything being constantly replenished), cereals, toast, fruit, yoghurt. Warm welcome from the owners and other staff. We arrived in the rain and were still greeted in person in the car park. Fabulous hospitality and can't recommend enough

We stayed at St Judes Lodge for two nights with my wife. We enjoyed the hosts, Sean and Dolan, the excellent breakfast and the close proximity - within walking distance - to the town centre. There was free parking on the premises. Most of all we were very thankful that the hosts sent us our iPad which we had accidentally left behind. Fantastic hospitality and great service!

We paid 264.60 for one night in a double room no breakfast included. On arrival we were brought to the "annex" a couple of houses down from the main building and given a tiny double room in the basement with the smallest en suite I've ever seen. Didn't bother with breakfast for a further 10 euro each. Really poor value for money. Charged hotel prices for what was basic product. It's so disappointing to see this sort of thing happening.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We appreciate it. July is the busiest month in Galway and prices are dictated by supply and demand and by other similar properties. But thanks for sharing your experience, we take all feedback (good and bad) on board.

From the moment Sean and Donal greeted us on arrival we knew it was going to be a fabulous stay. They were so helpful with making our stay comfortable. Everything exceptionally clean and tidy. Location close walking distance to eyre square and all that Galway City has to offer. Close to bus station as well. Laundry service was an added bonus. Highly recommend this excellent accommodation. Thanks for a fabulous stay.

Stayed here in April with a group of friends as part of a hen party. I could not recommend this place enough. Both Sean and Donal were so welcoming and lovely and couldn’t have done anymore for us. The rate we payed for the place was very good compared to other places which were further out. Although this is a guest house it is modern and gives a nice hotel feeling When trying to organise numbers and so on they never placed any pressure on us for final numbers and were extremely helpful throughout. Once we had final numbers Donal rang me and offered us a variety of rooms to pick from Incase some people needed to be upstairs or didn’t want to share a room/bed etc, unlike some Places that would try and stuff as many people into the room as possible to free up other rooms. They even offered us breakfast at a later time than they normally serve which was great. The rooms were spotless and the girls even commented on how warm the place was. It’s within walking distance to the city center but taxis are cheap. Would definitely recommend not only for larger groups but families and couples too and plan to go back myself with my partner at some stage.

Personally greeted on arrival by the owners - Donal and Sean (twins), two gentlemen who could not be more helpful and friendly. Everything about St. Jude's Lodge was superb, from the spacious en suite bedroom, the tasty Irish breakfast, free tea and coffee any time of the day, ample parking, on a quiet road minutes away from Eyre Square, and also amazing value for money. St. Jude's Lodge has simply everything you would want for an enjoyable trip to Galway city
