A bit disappointed - the B&B was in a fairly convenient location (outside Galway, but only a minutes walk to a bus stop with routes into the city) and the host Louise was very welcoming. The room however was basic - small, tired decor, TV that had poor reception, kettle that took over 5 minutes to boil and no toiletries provided. The breakfast was cooked to order but was very average. We stayed in a couple of lovely B&Bs in Ireland and this one was a bit of a let down.

Dear 'Gem_W1', Thank you for taking the time to place a review on Tripadvisor. I was dissapointed to read your review, especially when you didn't mention any grievances when I checked you and your partner in, served you Breakfast and checked you out. I am sorry you found the room basic, you stayed in one of our recently refurbished double rooms, so I am upset you considered this 'basic - small and tired in terms of decor'. Unfortunately, I cannot check every item in each room every day and had I been alerted to a poor reception with your TV, I would have been delighted to look at it and adjust it. I cannot alter the speed at which the kettle boils, it depends on the quantity of water in it. I would have happily provided you with an alternative kettle. We do provide a combination hair / body wash in the 'push' dispenser in the Shower. I am sorry you found our breakfast 'average', again, had you mentioned it, I would have been delighted to provide you with an alternative. I would appreciate if you had the time to contact me to provide me with some hints on how your stay could have been improved. I hope you will give me another chance by choosing to stay at Abacus in the future. Kind regards, Louise (Owners Daughter).

I live locally and regularly book this b and b when I have family visiting from Cork. They love it and find it very comfortable . I offered to book them into a hotel but they asked me to rebook here as they always have a lovely stay

The owner and her daughter were so nice welcoming us to the guest house, and made sure we had all the information we might need even for parts of our trip after we left their B&B. The breakfast was also excellent - the best Full Irish I had while in Ireland! The location is about a 30 minute walk to central Galway, with a bus line nearby.

We really enjoyed our time here. The room was very clean, spacious, and beautiful. Breakfast was lovely as well, with many options. Julia was very helpful and kind, answering any questions we may have. Only thing is that toiletries are NOT provided, so make sure you bring your own shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, etc. Other than that, the stay was great. Definitely recommend!

I’m so pleased my friends and I popped into this quaint B & B when we visited Galway. Julia was an exceptional host, and the rooms were lovely and clean. Breakfast was abundant and delicious and, once again, the service was exceptional. Highly recommended! Ooh, and there’s a lovely walk into the town centre that goes along the river near the railroad tracks. Gorgeous!
