Detailed Reviews
Marie is so friendly and nice. Her dog Russell is an elderly prince, if you're lucky you will catch a brief glimpse of his magical self. Definitely do not use Apple Maps when driving here, it kept bringing us to the wrong location. Make sure you use Waze or Google Maps. There is parking out front, but not too many spaces, luckily you can park at any location on the street in the little subdivision. The house has a cool 90's decor vibe. The windows open so you get a nice breeze. There is a tea station for use anytime, as well as snacks. Breakfast is delicious. The location is pretty good. I think it's best with a car. There is a great Thai restaurant that we ate at - located in some sort of weird shopping center/ industrial park - about a mile away called Khow Thai: do yourself a favor and eat here. Take a drive around the Connemarra region and enjoy. The room is mostly comfortable, we had some height issues though, staying on the top floor. My husband is 6'3" and between the extremely sloped walls in the bedroom and the bathroom, and the bathroom door being maybe 5'10", he kept banging his head off the ceiling and doors over and over. If I had known this, I would have requested a room on the first or 2nd floor instead.

Tony greeted us on our arrival and explained everything we needed to know about buses, interesting locations to see etc. The room was spotless with plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits etc.
The breakfast was excellent and the atmosphere extremely friendly. Bus stop outside the house (30 second walk) will bring you to the centre of town in 10 minutes for €1.90c.
Highly recommended and we'll definitely be booking a stay here again.

I wanna start my review saying that Marie is the best!
We arrived a day later as our flight was delayed so we lost the reservation, she did everything she could to host us anyway, super empathic and eager to help us. Her house is amazing and very cosy.
Definitely would come back and recommend to any traveler to do so.

The Bed and Breakfast is outside town. However, there are buses which make the access into town very easy. To go back, taxis and buses are readily available.
When we were there, there was parking space enough just before the house.
The place is well kept, and Mary is such a nice host. She is extremely friendly. Small things are taken care of in this B and B. Outlets are in the right places, everything is well thought. Breakfast is very nice, and the small conversation with Mary is nice to start the day. The only “complaint” is that our room an certainly the bed were very small.

I really recommend this lovely B&B and it's welcoming host Marie. Our room was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and fresh. We had a beautifully cooked breakfast in the morning in a pristine dining room. Look no further if you need a B&B in the area.

My husband and I stayed at Almara House, on our tour around Ireland, with a couple of friends. We had stayed at other B&B's on our trip, but non compared to the Almara. The warmth and friendship shown by our hosts was incomparable. Maire went above and beyond to assist with any request. Nothing was too much trouble. I have seen some bad reviews written here, and can only assume they refer to stays at Almara House, before Maire and her husband Tony took over ownership less than a couple of months ago. The house is warm and inviting and very comfortable. Breakfast is superb. I would most certainly stay here again. Maire is a gem. A true example of Irish hospitality at its best.

The Kiernan's provide one of the best B&B's Ireland has to offer. Incredible attention to details, incredibly clean and comfortable rooms and fabulous breakfasts. They go out of their way to ensure that you enjoy their city and make sure you have a wonderful and memorable stay. I cannot recommend this B&B enough! Please visit the site and book your stay with them if you are in Galway.

I have never been so far from home and yet been so much at home at the Kiernan's B&B. Their genuine hospitality makes all visitors to Almara House feel as welcome to their home as they would be in that of their extended family. It is perfect for any first-timers to Ireland and veteran visitors and everyone in between. Young and old alike, if you find yourself staying in Galway, you must stop by Matt and Marie Kiernan's B&B.
