The G Hotel & Spa offers a mixed experience, according to guest feedback. While the rooms are appreciated for their comfort and design, some visitors have raised concerns about maintenance and dated decor. The hotel's atmosphere is often described as luxurious, yet not without its outdated aspects. Its convenient location is a highlight, with easy access to the city and transport. Cleanliness standards are generally high; however, opinions on value for money and service are divided, with some guests expecting more for the price.

Since we are unable to travel abroad we decided to spend a little extra on a nice hotel in Ireland. We booked a one night mid-week stay. While we couldn’t fault the staff - they were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the hotel itself was really not worth the money we spent. We tried to book into the vitality suite as we knew the forecast wasn’t great and were told there was no availability until the afternoon on the day we checked out which was extremely disappointing as this is one of the main reasons we chose this hotel and paid a little extra to experience the 5 star facilities!! As well as this the internet connection didn’t work in our room meaning our Netflix cut out while we were there as well. In relation to COVID-19 the room was very well cleaned and lots of measures were in place to make guests feel comfortable.

Myself and my girlfriend spontaneously booked a break away in the g hotel. We purchased a package deal which included a nights stay, 3 course meal plus tea and coffee and breakfast the following morning. The interior is superb, with very interesting decor. The staff were so pleasant throughout our stay, they were so obliging to all requests. Dinner was delicious we were very satisfied with all our choices. The cocktails after dinner were the best I ever had, especially the ‘cloud 9’ cocktail. The hotel overall was so clean, the room was spotless and they had really put in a huge effort in adhering to government guidelines with regards to COVID-19 by having social distancing and hand sanitizer on hand. We felt very much at ease with this as it was done very professionally.
We really enjoyed our stay it was so relaxing and we will definitely be returning.

Came to The G for Afternoon Tea to celebrate my 35th birthday. We went as a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children (all under the age of 8). I was a bit apprehensive about bringing the kids and weather they would behave for me. We pre booked and were greated by our server on arrival. The table was set up beautifully for the 5 of us, and there was booklets with activities for the kids. Tables were spaced appropriately due to covid restrictions and staff were all wearing face masks. There was a station for sanitising hands on entry and in bathrooms. We ordered two adults afternoon tea, one with pink prosecco and 3 children s afternoon tea 2 with hot chocolate and one with a chocolate milkshake. The children drinks were a adults size which they squeeled with delight once they realised it was for them. They got chicken sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Nutella sandwiches, they also got a cookie, chocolate and marshmallow cake, icecream cake and a coconut slice. Loads of food for them. The adults got 4 different types of sandwiches also my favourite was the steak and cheese toastie. We also had 4 desserts all fab , oh and we both got 2 mini scones one plain one with chia seeds. These were my fav, esp with jam and cream. We both got a second pot of coffee and tea and i got the wild Atlantic way cocktail. The total bill was €122. To be honest I was expecting it to be more. Our server was very good and took the time to engage with the kids. This was definitely a one off treat for us and it certainly lived up to our expectations and experience. I would definitely recommend coming here for Afternoon Tea.

Myself and my daughters stayed in The G hotel for my birthday after years of wanting to stay there only to be left very disappointed and shocked at the level of treatment. Our room was basic and dull overlooking a carpark. First we had lunch in the bar and anything we ordered was unavailable both food and drink. The dinner in Gigis restaurant was okay however the menu was quite fancy and then the food that we would eat was limited to 1/2 of the 3 of us as they had run out. We didn't receive wine on arrival as per our booking and when we asked for it, we were given wine that wasn't on the menu and then charged for it! Our friend had organised surprise prosecco and paid 50euro for the bottle, and the staff forgot to give it to us. Our rooms were cleaned very late in the day and at that, they never took dirty glasses/cups out and failed to refresh the coffee station after the first day.. Clothes that were on the bed were thrown onto the floor when the bed was made. We used the spa, and thermal suite in which lots of the facilities were 'out of order' which we were not made aware of when booking. 3 of us got the 'Renew for two' spa package however we were not told that it wouldn't include a facial (due to covid) when booking and all three of us were offered different options when in our separate spa rooms!!! We were charged for the complimentary cocktail also which should be included with this spa package. We ordered room service on the second night and had to ring back after 40 mins to asked where the pizza we had ordered was, only for it to come approx. 5 minutes later undercooked. We sent it back as it was an absolute disgrace. When we went for breakfast we were served breakfast trays containing two of each item ie. fruit compote, yogurt, pastry at a table of three people?? When we got our bill for our three nights at check out, we spent half an hour correcting it as it was completely wrong and overcharged and reception couldn't explain to us why it was all such a mess and made us feel as though we were in the wrong?????
The list could go on however I wouldn't recommend this hotel to ANYONE nor would I rush back to ever stay there again. So disappointing for after not been allowed to travel due to covid for so long and then our trip was an absolute disaster!!!!

We held our wedding in the G hotel in early September and had the best day of our lives. We are absolutely delighted that we chose the G hotel for our wedding reception.

Planning and holding a wedding in the midst of a pandemic could have been an incredibly stressful experience however, with the constant support and reassurance from the wedding coordinator Debbie the journey was as enjoyable as it could be during these uncertain times.

Our original wedding date was May 2020. Debbie and her colleagues in the G hotel were really flexible when it came to rescheduling our date and didn’t put any pressure on us which was amazing, their focus was on us truly having the wedding day that we had dreamed of.

Once we decided to go ahead with our September wedding Debbie and her colleagues at the hotel rowed in behind us to ensure everything was as stress free as possible. Instead of stressing we were able to enjoy the build up to the wedding. The day itself was more magical than we could have ever imagined. All of our guests were blown away by the reception and also the ballroom which Debbie and her team had presented beautifully taking our ideas on board. The service was incredibly professional. The hotel is unique whereby it is five star luxury with a really personal touch and calm down-to-earth atmosphere that makes you feel at home. We are still getting compliments on the quality of the food, it was restaurant standard for a wedding which people were amazed by. Maurice (food and beverage manager) was around the entire wedding weekend to offer support and ensure everything was going to plan.

We stayed in the Linda Evangelista suite the night of the wedding which was a lovely perk. We were able to get amazing photos with the G as a setting and with Galway city on their doorstep we got photos down shop street, the Claddagh and Salthill.

The G hotel will always hold a special place in our hearts and we are forever grateful to Debbie and Maurice and their team for delivering an unforgettable day for us and our guests. We could not recommend the G hotel enough.

I booked one of the Valentines packages from the hotel. And the total of the whole package including the entry to the spa was €614. Not too bad for a 5 star hotel and spa.
When we arrived, our bags were taken by the concierge Glenn. He was very prompt and friendly and made us feel very excited for our stay from his quality service. We then were served by Zoltan, who went above and beyond for our entire stay. He walked us to the elevator and explained the different speciality lounges the hotel had to offer and explained how to use the lift etc. When we arrived in our room, we noticed the bags were not there. As we’d arrived before the time normally to check in we’d thought maybe the bags would arrive at the time of normal check in. However after a few times asking various people at reception and near to 2 hours later our bags still hadn’t shown up. As well as the items that came with the package (processco, strawberries) etc.
Eventually our bags arrived at the door, however, we were late for the time we had booked in for the spa. The front of house manager, Dawid, had sorted this for us and while we had gone to the spa had left complimentary processco and a letter in our room, which stated the hotel’s sincere apologises and had told us we’d received an upgrade to a Junior suite.
The suite was impeccable, Inez was a friendly face at the desk who sorted our key cards and Dawid escorted us to the room (carrying our cases) where everything was laid out. The room was absolutely breathtaking, I’d never stayed somewhere so nice.
The hydrothermal suite in the ESPA was also a treat that went down nicely. The staff were also very nice for the entire stay and apologised for the mistake everytime. The 5 course dinner at Gigi’s and the breakfast was also a sweet touch that I’m glad we also got.
Checkout was a bit unsteady when I was almost charged for a €110 mini bar and a €39.50 charge for room service that we’d never used or gotten. However, this was quickly cleared and was obviously just a technical error.
Overall, I was happy with the stay dispute the few hiccups and even queried to stay another night. I wish to thank all the staff for a pleasurable stay

As this was my summer holiday I had such high hopes of a great experience. I booked the G hoping that been 5 star it would ensure thus but was left somewhat disappointed. Lobby area was never free for guests to sit in or relax always reserved for afternoon tea. Breakfast in terms of service and food was disappointing. The lukewarm omelette and coffee on day two plus having to ask for the pastries and fruit. Day three the eggs benedict was on an over toasted muffin, one egg over, one egg under and a scrap of ham. Some food provenance wouldn’t go astray. Apart from the guy who showed us to our table for breakfast the service stopped there.

Toiletries in the room were not espa. If your not going to put it in the room don’t advertise it. One mini hand sanitiser between two guests, I always have my own with me regardless but there were two guests. No choice of teas in room. No biscuits also. I know you can ask but it should be there. The use of the thermal suite should be free to residents. The room was good in terms of cleanliness and comfort and the decor was nice.Cleanliness and COVID precautions were well executed throughout the hotel . Staff were friendly on a whole.

If you look on the hotels Instagram feed you just wonder did you stay in same hotel as these guests.

Had a really nice overnight stay in The G Hotel.
The hotel had just reopened so we were unsure what to expect.
Room was spotless and a lot of care and attention was put into sanitisation.
Lovely touch whereby we were offered a complimentary drink after checking in.
Had a beautiful breakfast in dining room. This would encourage me to dine in the hotel on our next visit.
Last but not least the staff. These guys and management deserve a gold star. Attentive, polite and so friendly. In difficult circumstances the staff were brilliant.
Will definitely be returning.

Positives: comfortable king bed, spacious bathroom. Close to the city (walking distance).

Negatives: my partner and I stayed for 2 nights in February. Upon arrival we were informed that you needed to book a place in the spa in advance. We were also told that there was an extra charge (€10 pp per hour) for using the spa even as a hotel guest. Prior to booking the room, we rang the hotel to confirm that spa access was included in the price we paid so we were shocked to learn of these limitations as guests.

We communicated our frustrations to the social media team who then informed us that we should have been phoned in advance of our arrival to see if we wanted to book the spa or a treatment. Of course we were never contacted and the spa was booked up early on the first day (Monday)

What really angered us as well was even after paying the extra charge for the spa, only those who had booked treatments were ‘allowed’ to avail of the relaxation room as part of the spa. The room was almost empty being a Tuesday morning. I thought this was absolutely scandalous. Having been to many spa hotels and espa, in particular, I have never experienced this. I simply couldn’t get my head around it. It was embarrassing being turned away.

When checking out, I voiced my frustrations to a member of staff but he was quite apathetic about it all and didn’t seem fazed by it. This hotel really needs to take these reviews here on board.

The hotel is also situated in a retail park which we couldn’t quite believe. Photos of the property are very misleading.

Definitely not 5 star standard.

Paying nearly €400 a nite for a luxury room to find that we get two single beds pushed together (this is not good ). Getting breakfast to the room costs an extra €8 per tray (you just got €389 for the nite off me ) shame to charge this extra cost and get no toast even after asking for it with breakfast and to open my curtains to a car park was like staying in an industrial estate. Paid €33 for a steak that you don’t get sides with had to pay extra for them. Tables to small could not sit under them as I’m a tall person so therefore could not enjoy my meal at Gigi’s. no effort to clean the bath in the bathroom. Went to the huntsman across the road on sencond nite and dinner and drinks was nicer and cheaper and got real chips with my steak at no extra cost. Would not stay at the g again over rated and over priced

Staff are lovely very helpful
