Lovely view over a building site. Impressed that they work on a Sunday morning though. Nothing like the sound of drilling to ostart your day.

The Clybaun Hotel garners mixed feedback from guests; its rooms are often commended for their cleanliness and spaciousness, yet some visitors have encountered issues with hot water and maintenance. While the hotel's location is celebrated for its convenience for exploring Galway, a few guests were disappointed with its distance from Salthill. The atmosphere is modern and clean, but not all find it charming. The amenities, including a leisure center, are generally appreciated, although there are occasional critiques regarding the showers and pool access. Opinions on value and service vary, with some guests questioning the pricing and experiencing inconsistent service. Despite this, the hotel's overall cleanliness receives high marks.

Just a quick review of our 2 night stay at the Clybaun. First up the Covid19 protocols in place at the hotel are superb. Hand sanitizers, social distancing in the restaurant and the rooms are sealed after each clean to assure visitors that the room is deep cleaned.
This is a really nice hotel. The lobby is grand & has a feeling of quality when you walk in. Staff where very friendly & had fantastic manners & I can't stress enough how important that is to me. Food in the bar/restaurant was excellent. I had goats cheese salad for starter & baked salmon for main, superb. Breakfast was very good also. Pool had to be booked but that was no problem. 5 mins to Salthill & 12 mins to City. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

I recently visited clybaun Hotel for a family get together. My mother stayed in the hotel and I initially had booked in advance for a table for 6 but when I arrived I realised we were a party of 6 people plus a child,so we couldn't all sit at the same table due to the Covid restrictions but very quickly the staff were very accommodating and got us 2 tables in together in the lounge as close as possible. All the guidelines were being adhered to. Everyone was wearing masks, ubiquitous hand sanitiser dotted around the place. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, I had the Sri Lankan chicken curry with a creamy pint of Guinness. We had a lovely family lunch. My mother took me up to show me her room, which was an executive suite very nice indeed. I have eaten several times in the clybaun Hotel and I always get treated very well and the food is excellent . This was the first time I visited during the covid pandemic, so nice to see the place open and doing business in these challenging times. I hope to return soon.

Recently had dinner in the Bar. Food was very tasty, good selection and staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely atmoshphere. Hand sanitizer stations dotted around the hotel and was very impressed to see the manager ask somebody to wear their mask when walking around. Only issue was to gain access to mens toilet you need a code for the door, feel due to current Covid situation that this is not a good idea as there was alot of people using it and I didn't see it being cleaned down once. Otherwise, hotel felt very safe.

On the 1/8/20 we arrived at the Clybaun after a 3 hour car trip with two small children (5 & 3). We were told that there was an issue with housekeeping and our room wasn’t ready (this was 5pm - 2 hours after check in time). We sat in the lobby for 1 hour and we were then informed that the hotel actually didn’t have a family room for us (which we had booked). We were given a double room with a single bed and a camp bed squeezed in and told we could change to bigger room the following day. The camp bed had no linen (had to be requested). We went for dinner and when we returned my 5 year old went to sleep in the camp bed but complained that she was “sinking” - wooden slat missing on camp bed leaving a gaping hole. So my two children had to squeeze into the single bed. The next day we informed reception of the problems and that we wanted to move to the bigger room (we had to pack up all our stuff and move to a different floor). I informed reception that I wanted a refund for the difference in price between a double and family room for the first night. I was told that no manager was on duty that weekend but they’d contact them with my request. Breakfast was offered as a goodwill gesture for the following morning. On check out the next morning I reiterated that I wanted the different in price refunded. The response “oh but you were given breakfast this morning”. I responded that that wasn’t good enough after the hassle we’d been through and the breakfast was cooked anyway! “Oh you’ve actually had two days breakfast dropped off your bill”. Again, my response was that our booking was a room only basis and we’d never had breakfast included in the first place. Finally a manager was a called in. On speaking to her she seemed genuinely sorry about our experience and offered to sit and talk it through (hardly much point on check out), informed me that a manager is always on duty in the hotel (so being told that no manager was on duty was a lie), and said she would contact me the following day about a refund. We then moved onto the Grand Hotel in Malahide (fabulous experience) and when we got home a few day later I emailed the Clybaun to ask for a contact to lodge a complaint as I had had absolutely no contact since the day we left (So the “caring” manager had the same attitude as the rest of the staff) - needless to say, over two weeks after checkout, I have had absolutely no response. The staff in the hotel clearly couldn’t care less about the comfort and well being of those staying in the hotel. The service provided was well below the standard of a 4* hotel.

Just returned from our 2nd visit to this beautiful hotel. With my wife being Coeliac we informed the hotel of her dietary requirements prior to arrival. We were greeted by a very friendly and efficient receptionist who was aware of my wife's food allergies and checked us in in minutes and also booked a table in the restaurant for Dinner
Our room was spotlessly clean with a notice on the door that cleaning was up to current Covid standards. Tea and Coffee making facility in room, To say the staff are 5 star doesn't do them justice, they are very helpful , efficient and friendly and everyone had great knowledge of food allergies. The enclosed outdoor garden area is magical. Tables everywhere both inside and outside were socially distanced and staff wore face masks at all times. We felt really safe here. The Restaurant and bar food could not be better with fast and friendly service, Overall we had a great stay and will be back again shortly.
4 star hotel with 5 star staff.

Having worked in the industry, I do have quite a critical eye, but I must admit I was very impressed with the Clybaun in Galway.

To start, in terms of Covid, this place is spotless. There are countless  hand sanitizing stations, the rooms, the corridor, the toilets, the bar, reception area and even the lift were very clean. The spa area's , pool, changing rooms were absolutely spotless and well sanitised. Full marks on this.

Our room was clean,  modern, very comfortable and warm. Beds were extremely comfortable, toilets and showers spotless and spacious. The room had a modern coffee machine,  as well as a kettle with tea & coffee and all the usual things one would expect.

The staff were amazing, friendly and very professional. Check in, check out was seamless, the reception staff were very friendly, even the young lady cleaning the rooms had a friendly warm greeting for us.

The food in the hotel bar was excellent, very good value, and served quickly by the two floor staff, who were very friendly. Breakfast was served and again I could not fault it. Both continental and Irish fry choices left us both ready for bed again, and again the two waiters were very friendly and professional.

The pool, two spa's (one outside) and gym are modern, clean and impressed us both.

In general, one of the best hotels we have stayed at, I would highly recommend it, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg. My only critic, is that perhaps instructions should be left on how to operate the coffee machines in the rooms. Apart from that both myself and my wife give this 5 stars.

Arrived early to the hotel on Sunday knowing we would be unable to check in , but had booked into the spa for treatments! Firstly we weren’t greeted with the warmest welcome from reception who kept pointing out that we couldn’t check in yet which we were fully aware of and could they point us in the direction of the spa which they eventually did. Arrived to the spa for our appointments early as we were told Over the phone when we booked in for the spa that we could use the pool facilities as we wished. Upon arrival we were told that we must book to use these facilities and they were booked out which was understandable given the uncertain times we see ourselves in, but none the less still disappointing as we were told otherwise over the phone. The first person went for their spa treatment while the other two of us said we would wait in the bar area as it states on their website, opens for bar food at noon. We were then disappointed when we were told only carvery was open from 12:30. By the time all three of us had our spa treatments it was time to check in. At reception we were told our room was not ready and to take a seat in the lobby and it would be ready in 15 minutes. An hour later we were given a room with no apology for the wait. The staff at reception could not locate our bags which we later had to wait to be dropped to our room. We had booked a triple room which only had two of everything -cups, glasses, robes, towels. Overall the room was of a very low standard, sheets were creased, rough and hard. Pillows were practically nonexistent. Overall disappointing stay. Would not recommend to a friend. Staff could benefit from basic hospitality training as there is a serious lack of etiquette and interpersonal skills. ✂️

Went for lunch with my elderly parents, my sister and my daughter. We were vaguely pointed in the general direction of a table. We eventually found a clean one amidst a sea of uncleared and dirty tables despite several staff "socialising" at the bar counter. We shared a menu trying to decide what we would have and were on the point of leaving when a server appeared to take our order. As my sister is coeliac and my father has special dietary requirements we checked first if they could accommodate us before giving our order. Then the waiting began. Fully 45 minutes later our order began to arrive. Both my father and my sister's orders were wrong and my food was stone cold. I mentioned this to the server who, after bringing my food back to the kitchen, presumably to check with the chef, said she would get me a fresh order. More waiting followed. After another 20 minutes we decided that we would pay for what little had arrived and just leave. We explained this to the cashier who, quite patronisingly told us that cooking food takes time!!! We received the most miserable discount and a half hearted apology from the cashier. In fairness to one of the servers, she did offer a more genuine apology. Nevertheless they took our money and despite our frustration and hunger, we left. The only thing I can recommend is that you stay away from this hotel, unless you enjoy being hungry and insulted. The staff were much more polite and helpful in McDonald's down the road!!!

On arrival the staff was nothing but rude. We then had 2 mix ups with the rooms and even the reception rang us to ask if somebody else’s luggage was there as someone else was booked into our room. We then later went for dinner and was made to stand in the lobby for 20 minutes (Bare in mind we have a one year old) and when we got our food it wasn’t even hot later that evening when we tried to get drinks we got refused even though we were told it was closed at 11. Next morning at breakfast no staff was there too escort too table which left us standing again this all repeated throughout the 3 days we are extremely disappointed with this hotel. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

The first thing that struck me about the hotel was its calmness and the ambience…very soothing. I am a freak when it comes to cleanliness of bathrooms and toilets, and Clybaun scores pretty high on this critical factor. In addition, the rooms are in top shape and very well kept.

I must also say something about the staff….very warm, courteous and professional. Plus, if you are a foodie, then you are in for a good time. It is also good to mention that the location of the hotel is very calming to the nerves. I would recommend this hotel again and again, and I look forward to going back there. So, if you find yourself in Galway someday, please, do not hesitate to make Clybaun hotel your “home”....
