Our stay was a pleasant experience, I will start with the staff who were very helpful and pleasant especially the waiters and check in. The hotel was very clean in all areas and in good condition. We liked the different areas where you could read a book , have a coffee or just observe. Just one comment is that the bedroom could do with some drawers or storage area in the wardrobe

My daughters and I travelled to Galway for a 3 night stay from 24th to 27th August to celebrate the birthday of one of the daughters. Having read the positive reviews we chose the Clybaun which is situated in a residential area, central to Galway and Salthill with good parking. Overall experience was almost perfect with the exception of a disappointing dining experience on the first night which was also to be my daughter's celebration meal. There was a poor choice of vegetarian options and the kitchen appeared inflexible in providing alternative, realistic options suggested by us for the vegetarian daughter whose birthday it was. Despite this disappointment we tried to make the best of it and my daughter had nice celebration desserts. The remainder of our stay was most positive, ranging from welcoming atmosphere, birthday card and chocolates left in bedroom for my daughter, beautiful refurbished interior of hotel, high standards of cleanliness, spacious refurbished bedroom, amazing shower and high quality toiletries, very good breakfast with adequate choice of food and vegan options, well equipped leisure centre, pool and hot tub Adding to our positive experiences were the many staff who dealt with us during our stay A special mention to the young lady who waited on our table in the dining room on the first night who did her very best to ameliorate the disappointing dining experience, Constantino, manager who dealt most professionally with our dining complaints, breakfast staff and manageress who were most attentive and helpful, domestic staff who worked so hard, Katya, front desk and George, manager for their helpful, professional manner when checking out. This hotel is almost perfect and with some work on dining room menu and choices it could be. Hope to return next year and make our visit to the Clybaun an annual event. Had considered awarding 4 stars but decided to go with 5 stars in anticipation of some improvements to menu. Thank you Clybaun.

I had booked a room in the hotel for a Monday night stay to break up a long road trip. I found the staff to be very helpful. My room was very clean and spacious. I had an early dinner in the bistro, the food was first class. However, this is specific to me, due to an early start on Tuesday morning I intended getting an early night. My room was on the 'court yard' side of the hotel. I was very surprised, especially on a Monday night, that just as I tried to get my early night (10.30) I heard a lot of load talking followed by loud music which appeared to be coming from the 'court yard' below. It seems that a party was just starting up. Even after closing the room windows the noise was still very noticeable. After about an hour of the noise I was still awake but did eventually fall asleep. I would consider booking the hotel again but would definitely first ask about planned parties beforehand.

Sayed at four different 4 star hotels in Ireland over a 12 day period. This was the best. We had a very spacious room and cannot fault the place. There is plenty of parking space and the use of a gym if required.

We arrived to the hotel early as we were at a wedding the night before in a different hotel. We decided to have some lunch as we knew it was too early for check in. The lunch we had was fab. We then went to reception around 13.35 and said we know the room isn’t ready but we will wait at the lobby, the receptionist confirmed the room was still not ready which we knew would be the case and had no problem waiting. We then sat from that time till 3pm watching other couples and families arrive early and being checked in early. But for our room it happened to not be ready till 3pm. Our bathroom door knob in our room was broken so we had to be careful to not get locked into to our toilet as we first got locked out of it but got a spoon to turn the knob to open it again. The next morning at 11am the cleaner knocked on our door and tried to come in. Check out isn’t till 12 so we were shocked by this. She did apologise but still again, we had another hour left in our room. As we were leaving our room to check out the hotel started ringing our room phone. Could not wait to get us out but not so quick to let us check in. This really left the stay so disappointing as we just felt we were being rushed out of the place. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for a relaxing stay as you leave feeling annoyed and rushed out. Really need to improve on customer service skills.

Stayed in the Clybaun from Thurs 24th until Sat 26th as a family, with our 4 year old and 7 month old. I work in hospitality and was looking forward to the stay as I knew they had recently renovated part of the hotel. Lobby is lovely and location is great, we checked in and went up to the room, 220, I had to sterilise the baby bottles and unfortunately the tap in the sink in bedroom the flow of the water was very poor so we had to go buy bottles of water, I rang down and told reception and they said maintenance would be up to have a look, no one came. We went down for dinner in bar, food was lovely but only afterwards we seen there was a early bird menu in the lift, we weren’t made aware of this on the Thurs evening and we ate at 6pm. The early bird is until 7pm so should be told to people. Breakfast was amazing and I spoke to the restaurant manager and let her know, the hash browns and mushrooms were so good and so fresh so compliments to the chef! I met a manager that morning and said about the water in our room again and he said he would get someone to look at it or get us moved room but unfortunately we never heard any more and the issue with the water remained the same and we had to buy bottles of water to try and sterilise the bottles. So that was disappointing that no one let us know or that they didn’t move us to another room.

Friendly and helpful staff. Carpet in room was badly stained which was disappointing for what we paid for the room! Needed access to a fridge for medication but none in room. An inconvenience to both ourselves and the front staff as meds had to be kept downstairs in a fridge. Access to a mini fridge for guests with meds might be an idea . Other hotels have provided this.
