Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Friendly staff everywhere. The hotel is a bit old and shabby. In the room on the 1st floor, there was a strong smell of sewage in the toilet. I told you about it and they tried to fix it..then it smelled like chlorine and sewage. Breakfast good, alternative hot dishes. Slices of cheese and ham only. Then there would be a request: now train those young waiters, when they clean the table and change e.g. the tablecloth, so they don't put cutlery; knives, forks and spoons for the seats! Pretty disgusting when the previous customers just sat down and then the cutlery on the seats. For example, you could use a tray with cutlery for cleaning. Everyone probably gets the point. Otherwise, everything went well, except for the bad smell and the handling of the cutlery.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful restaurant! We stayed here for five days. The room was super clean! The hotel bar and restaurant was delicious as well! Would stay here again when in galway. The rooms are quite big for a European hotel too! Plenty of space :)

Old as Fudge. This place is ancient. I'm not sure where all the positive reviews are coming from but my guess is that they are fake. The pictures that you see are probably from the 1990s. Beds are disgusting, toilet leaks all over the floor, carpet is repulsive. Cobwebs and dust all over everything. Paint is old and gross. Seriously we feel we were fooled and ripped off. We asked to see another room so we can switch, but it was worse. Stay away - you will do much better anywhere else. We cut our visit short so we can find a better place.

The room was fairly large with an excellent a/c system (which is rare in Ireland) and beds and pillows were comfortable. The lighting in the bathroom was atrocious, don't know who designed that. We had absolutely no view. All in all a decent 3.5 star hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel located in a very central location.

Lovely 3 star hotel. Best 3 star I’ve stayed in period. Everything clean and tidy. Room lovely with air conditioning, hairdryer iron and board. Staff pleasant. Fantastic location on eyre square. Interior may not be as modern but well maintained and clean. Everything works. It’s more 4 star than 3 star in my view and I’ve stayed in lots of hotels

The rooms are quite large and clean. The bathrooms very nice too. The only problem with our stay there is the prepaid breakfast was not offered to us on the first day and then one day, they had no chef, so the offerings were limited. Other than that, the location was good and the rooms were nice.

I booked 11 rooms for a large group of friends, making the reservations were made easy by Simon even when I had to add or alter the booking. We were mostly lucky that our rooms were ready when we arrived early. The rooms our very comfortable and clean, the only niggle by some of us ladies is there wasn't an area with good light to put our make up on. We had breakfast in the hotel which was fine, help yourself to continental food/ toast/ juice/ coffee and order taken for tea and hot food. All the staff we came across in reception/bar/restaurant/housekeeping were friendly and helpful - big shout out to Olga who chatted with us on most days. Ideal location for everything in Galway City.

A quiet, comfortable and clean hotel. The staff are beautifully friendly and very helpful. There's a bar for alcohol and soft drinks and a cracking restaurant. And all of this in Eyre Square, a vibrant area with bars and restaurants...oh and handy transport!!

Arrived at 3.00pm wensday 19 July. Stayed that night woke suffocating at 5 to 5.10 in the morning one off the radiator’s had been on and this was not a small one! You could only open the window out a inch tops. There was only my friend and I in the room. I rang the reception at least three times and the lady said she would get it turned off. No one even came to the room!!! 8.10am the maintenance man came to the door. I told him we were awake half the night! He said “I just started work now”. When we got up to go to breakfast I said it again at the reception desk and nothing no apologies or even a sorry! We went to breakfast! No tables set we asked the waiter for table and he pointed to one so we sat there! Had to get our own toast and juice and cutlery. We asked for full Irish seriously. A child would have been hungry after it. €14.00 each room €370.00 because it was the galway races time. Obviously double the price as normal. I was thinking then on Friday this is ridiculous! Not even an apology! I rang and asked for the manager and said I had a complaint! He wasn’t Irish anyway. Very, very rude!!! I told him my story talk about not seeing my point view! He didn’t even apologise. He said he would have to talk to assistant manager and he had my number. If your paying 100 or 369 you would expect to be able to sleep anyway at least! Definitely would keep away from the imperial hotel galway anyway and o by the way that so called manager did not get back to me!!!🤨😡😡😡😡

Hotel location was good. City center and easy walk to all the sites in Galway. However, if you are traveling by car, this has to be the worst and most confusing place to get to and park. The parking garage is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and trying to get there by car took over 15 minutes. There was no assistance loading or unloading luggage and absolutely no parking in front of the hotel. Really poor setup and would not stay here again.
