Central location but noisy at night as other guests return from pubs. Breakfast is good and will fill you up for the morning. The hostel has a good current setup with covid regulations in place. 24/7 reception is helpful if you have questions
Everyone was so friendly and the place was so secure! It was walking distance to literally anything you’d want to do and all the shops and restaurants! They even provided free WiFi and complimentary breakfast downstairs. We only stayed for a night but I can see why people would book it for multiple nights or longer - it has a very home like feel!
I found this hostel the best one - out of 4 I know in Galway - and one of the best in Ireland: I have been to 16 of them both north and south. I appreciate that the hostel has a lift - as in so many hostels in this day and age with 3 floors, there is still no lift !!! Staff were superb all the time. I was in a four and six dorm mixed bedroom.
This review is mainly for the staff, as I did not end up staying in the hostel itself. I was spending time in Galway looking for worked and booked myself in to a room to save money. This would have been my first time staying in a hostel. I went before check-in to see about dropping my bags and the woman at reception was happy to let me leave my things. She was also able to change my incorrect booking (my fault) from a mixed-sex dorm to all-female, which I really appreciated. Later, once I checked in, the male staff who helped me was friendly and cheerful, and continued to be helpful once I realized that staying in a hostel was not for me. The room itself seemed small to have 6 people in it; there was only one locker-cage thing under each set of bunks, and the people who were already there made no attempt to move their stuff of my bed so I could drop my bag (not the hostels fault, Obvs). I would certainly suggest this hostel to someone who has had the experience before, are traveling with friends, or who is maybe less of an introvert than me. …
We booked a four-bed room for three people traveling. The check-in staff member was very helpful and showed us a few must-sees and gave us advice on good restaurants and pubs. Free tea and coffee were available 24/7. Breakfast was included as well. There were different cereals, breads, and jams, as well as orange and apple juice, and tea and coffee offered. The room was very cold though as there was only floor heating. About 5-10 minutes walk from the bus station and the city centre.
