We were here for 4 nights mid-September and certainly chose the right place. The young staff were international, super friendly, and very well trained. The food was exceptional and the included breakfast was traditional Irish, generous, and delicious. We would return again without a doubt.

All was good except the room carpets were dirty - they needed to be cleaned not just vacuumed. Otherwise all was excellent - the breakfast was good, the room was clean, the maid service was good, the bar/restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and considerate as was the front desk staff. We have stayed here several times on trips to Galway and will stay here on our next trip. We whole heartedly recommend this hotel. The hotel is well situated on 2 bus routes having a short trip into the Galway city center.

An old classic in a big city that gives you a hug! Staff are all super friendly, food was ideal. We just a quick pit stop for night. Hotel as already said is an old building but was obviously renovated recently. It’s spotlessly clean, loads of parking (which is a bonus in any city) & comfortable room. I’m saying all that if your a light sleeper it may not be for you. As it is an old building soundproofing wouldn’t be up to modern standards but it didn’t stop us all from having a sound sleep. We ate in bar & food choice was varied & came out piping hot served by polite friendly staff who spoke to other guests on a first name basis that had obviously being there for more than one night. It was a lovely gesture to see in any hotel. Hotel is a little out from the city but a bus stop is directly outside. Personally I loved the calmness it gave us as a place of rest. I definitely would return again.

Overall, our experience was just ok. The staff was very pleasant and kind but the hotel itself is kind of meh. The room was clean but the entire hotel is temperature controlled so we had no way of making our individual room warmer or cooler. We resorted to opening our windows (which we didn’t love being on the first floor). The shower was AWFUL. The temperature went from comfortable, to scolding hot, to freezing cold without even touching the knob. The breakfast food was okay but nothing special, we ended up eating on the road the second day. These were no waters in the room to take medication with at night and when we asked for some at the desk they said they’d have to charge us. When my husband told them I’m pregnant, they were willing to give us a pitcher like they put on their tables in the dining room. I can’t say it was a bad experience because the staff was very kind but I probably would find a different hotel if we came back to Galway.

Dear Alex, Thank you for your recent review. I was dismayed to hear that you did not have a great experience with us, as this is our aim with all of our guests. I was glad that you found the staff to be very pleasant and kind. It is unfortunate that you did not relay your concerns about the temperature to the front desk, as it is possible to turn off or lower the temperature on the radiator heater in your room. With regards to the hot water, I am not sure how this may have happened. We did not receive any other complaints relating to this. In relation to the water being in the room, this is not provided as all of our tap water in the hotel is filtered and drinkable. However, I was glad to read that you were offered a jug of water, and we have options of purchasing glass-bottled water in our bar, alongside a cheaper options also available in the vending machine onsite. We would love for you to return to us, so that we can ensure that your next stay is received better. Should you wish to book with us again, please do not hesitate to call us on +353 91 755 111 or you can reach me personally at dara@flanneryshotel.net. Kindest regards, Dara Duty Manager

The pillows were so hard that I barely slept. Staff were very young and while very friendly and helpful, it seemed as if this was for most, if not all of them, their first job. I don't think I saw a staff member over the age of 35. Dinner was chaotic, it took about 10 minutes to get a waitress to take our order, 40 minutes later people who'd ordered after us were being served and I think they'd lost our order as it took another 20 minutes for the food to arrive after we spoke to a young manager. An other frustrated diner got quite irate about the delay on his meal and was very rude and aggressive with the waiting staff. The place was clean and 5 minutes away from the location we needed to be at which is why we chose it. A burger cost 18 euro, fish and chips was around the same. A 200ml bottle of coke cost almost 4 euro. Bars and hotels in Ireland have always sold Coca Cola in glass bottles but these were at least 100mls smaller than usual. There was no complimentary bottled water in the room and we had to pay 1.80 for bottle of water from a vending machine. That water is usually one of the cheapest in the supermarket. The 237 euro for the 'Superior' room was far too much for what we got. The 2 towels were tiny, most hotels I've stayed in usually provide 3 towels as most people like a towel for their hair as well as their body. Overall we felt gouged for what we got and I wouldn't stay again.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your recent review. It is unfortunate that you found your stay disappointing. I would just like the opportunity to address some things you highlighted. In relation to the pillows being hard, I do apologize for this and we would have replaced the pillows in the room or given you extra ones if this had have been highlighted to us. With respect to the age of our staff, I am sure you understand as someone living in Dublin that the pandemic ruined the work force availability, especially in the hospitality industry in this country. Whilst a lot of our staff are indeed young, we have had a large number of these young members of the team with us in the longer-term. They are well trained and have proved themselves to be very energetic, friendly, and are often-times more efficient than the older hospitality professionals you may have been used to a number of years ago. Regarding your food order, I profusely apologize for the delay, this is unacceptable and it should not have taken this long for your order to reach you. In relation to our pricing and what Irish people call "price gouging", we are the most reasonably priced and best-value for money hotel in Galway. You will rarely see another hotel property to a similar standard showing cheaper rates. It is unfortunate that you wanted more towels for the room, although there were two hand towels and two bath towels in your room, as it's maximum occupancy is for two people. More towels are available on request. It is upsetting that you did not enjoy your stay, although if you are looking to return to Galway and avoid the "price gouging", we would love for you to book in with us again and give us another chance. You can do this directly by calling 091 755 111 or alternatively you can reach me directly at dara@flanneryshotel.net and I will endeavor to give you the best rates possible. Kindest regards, Dara Duty Manager

When we arrived we were booking in we were put in a normal size room. When I questioned them When going into the city centre they told me that was the only available room at the time as the room I had booked through booking.com was not ready . I had to find out our self that the food finished at 9pm and the bar food was served until 10pm I ordered chips witb the bar food only to be told the kitchen was closed and no hot food only pizzas and sandwiches. There was no air conditioning with in the hotel when I ask was there any the answer was no . To make matter worse the heating comes on at 5am every morning . The room was like a sauna even with the windows open and the heating off. Even worse There was no resident bar for the people staying in the hotel only at the weekends they said and close the bar at 11.30pm. I will not be returning as a guest to this hotel

Dear Sean, I was disappointed to read that you were not happy with your stay. With regards to your room not being ready, I apologize for this although it is worth noting that your arrival to the hotel was before check-in time. I also apologize for you not being told about the dining timings, though it worth noting that asking any member of staff would have resolved this. Unfortunately we do not have air conditioning, albeit hard to see why your room was like a sauna, if you had adjusted the heater settings in the room. Kindest regards, Dara Duty Manager
