Far more expensive than any other campsite we have visited in Ireland. Poor customer service, €42 per night for the site compared to €25 most other places. €1 for 5 min shower which is fine but €10 for a token to use the washing machine or dryer!!!! Told they could not take a booking so first come first served basis but when we arrived to book in we were told we could only stay two nights as they were fully booked for Friday night??? Also heard them taking bookings on the phone?? Not much other choice in Salthill but very disappointed. Cash only during a pandemic??

Stayed here for two nights in our Motorhome while having a wee tour of Ireland. The site is in a brilliant location. We were concerned about getting a pitch as we were not allowed to book in advance, but thankfully there were plenty empty when we arrived. The owner happily let us move pitch to give us better views over the bay. The views are stunning. The park is spotlessly clean.

Possibly the dearest park we have ever stayed in at €42 per night for 2 adults. Showers are €1 coin operated, which we’re seeing as a theme across Ireland. The laundry facility at €10 is, I feel, excessive so we never used it. I found it a bit strange that the toilets and showers are in 2 separate buildings but both easily accessible from anywhere in the park.

There is a bus service virtually at the gate of the park which will take you right into Galway town centre for €1.90. It’s every half hour midweek and hourly on a Sunday.

Galway itself is buzzing, the people are so friendly. There is an abundance of pubs, restaurants and shops. Buskers keeping everyone entertained and the market around the Latin quarter was good.

There is a promenade from the park right into Salthill which was buzzing with tourists. There is a small funfair there, a leisure centre, bars, restaurants etc We rode our bikes along but it’s a very pleasant walk also.

My only concern would be arriving here from a distance and not being able to pre-book as there are few campsites available in the area. This apart I would gladly return, we had a fantastic time

This would be the only good thing I could say about this site. Very expensive to stay here the most expensive I’ve paid €174 for three nites. The pitches are spotless but very tight all on top of each other. 50 cent for hot water to wash up. They advertise a play ground well it’s two swings and my son loves a play ground to meet other kids and to play he spent most of the time in the van and never done that on any site for this I’d never return to this site. €10 to wash your clothes 😂

This is the only bad experience I’ve had in any campsite in Ireland. I usually stay next door in O’hallorans, however it wasn’t possible this year due to Covid. We phoned salthill caravan site asking to book on and were told they operate a first come first serve basis. We arrived and got on no problem. Other family members landed later that evening and also got on. They then tell us that they can only keep us for 2 days as they were FULLY BOOKED. How was this possible on a first come first serve basis? We had to leave which left our children very upset and confused. However haven spoken to a couple of other people (who coincidentally happened to be from the same county as us) and found they too were asked to leave due to being over booked.
This campsite will never get another penny from me. I’m not sure if they don’t like people from the north or what their problem is.
As for the price, it was shocking. Everything is extra. 50 cent to get warm water to wash your dishes is a joke.
The place to empty your chemical toilet is in the men’s bathroom, which means it stinks in there.
Easily the worst experience I’ve had in a campsite anywhere

Expensive, with added extras at every opportunity. Odd impractical site rules.

I was cycle touring and arrived at nearly 10pm after 90k, soaked after heavy downpours. Just me and my small tent.

20 euros to camp. quite pricey, 1 euro for 5 min shower, 2 euro to use electric hob, 0.5 euro to wash dishes, 10 euro washing machine, 10 euro dryer fixed charges.

No hot water unless you pay, even in the toilets hand basins.

Extortionate dryers, but also a sign saying clothes lines are not allowed on site. And no designated area for a clothes line. Of course I broke this. I needed to dry my soaking clothes and it was finally sunny and breezy. I'm not paying 10 euros to wash 4 items of clothing.

No cloths in the kitchen, so all the tables covered in crumbs and food mess in the morning.

No washing of dishes in the kitchen, instead you have to carry to another room where you will be charges another 0.5 euro for hit water, again.

Unsanitary to make it difficult to wash hands or dishes in hot water, which I saw most people doing.

However, a campsite near the town is useful. It felt safe to leave my things there.

I did spot some camping (not on a site 'wild') near the beach just to the west of galway, I'd have just set up my tent there if I'd known, swam in the sea and paid nothing.

A couple of people I got chatting to in the evenings told me that the site has a bad reputation in galway. I didn't probe.

The reception staff and security were all friendly, helpful and approachable. All good there. Just an expensive and oddly tight vibe to the campsites systems and services.

We emailed the site three times without response and called the day before we hoped to stay and we’re told that they didn’t respond to emails and we would have to just turn up and hope although it was a fair drive without any other options in the vicinity. We arrived quite early and were then told that as it was the holiday weekend they would only accept a two night stay normally although they did relent eventually. Then the costs were unleashed on us! 44 euros for a grass pitch literally less than two metres from the bay itself (and had spray covering us all evening once the tide was in). We were also boxed in by other vehicles which had been crammed in with no chance of leaving the site in the van during our day and no chance of driving away in the event of a fire - not sure what the rules are in Ireland but this would categorically not be allowed elsewhere in the UK! Then we went to wash up our dishes and the hot water for the sinks is metered- I have never seen this anywhere and would have thought the 44 euros would have covered at least a bowl of water! This was the most expensive site we have ever satiated at with possibly the coolest welcome and worst value I have yet to experience. Personally, I would avoid and find somewhere else in the area as every other site we stayed at on our ten days touring Ireland was reasonably priced and extremely welcoming.

We have just been touring around Ireland and this was the most expensive site we stayed at. As there isn't too much choice with campsites, they can obviously charge what they like and they do. We had, or so we thought, made a booking earlier in the year, but when we arrived, they said they didn't take bookings. Fortunately, my husband had printed out their confirming email and showed it to them, so they did find us a space. This was quite irritating as the latest checkin time is 8pm and we had left Bru Na Boinne after our tour at 4:30pm and had rushed over, not really enjoying the journey and then not a great reception from them. Anyway, the price of the pitch was 114 euros for 2 nights, on top of that the showers were 1 euro and to get hot water for washing up, was another 50 cents. We have done a lot of camping and I have NEVER been charged for washing up water!! The showers and toilets were fine. There is quite a nice walk along the promonade into Salthill - unfortunately the evenings we were there, there was a bit of a monsoon going on. There is a convenient bus stop opposite the entrance where we caught the bus into Galway. Coming back, we had to get off somewhere slightly different and walk about 10 minutes. That could just have been our mistake though!

A great location, we walked to Salthill Promenade restaurants in 25 minutes and to Leisure Land where we had a show booked in 20 minutes. The bus to the city centre is just across the road is cheap but they only take cash. You can’t book in advance here but that was fine for us as we travelled at the end of the season, facilities were clean and the park is kept well. It is a little pricy but you are as close to the city as you will get as Galway isn’t very motorhome friendly for parking, even roadside parking isn’t allowed. Overall a great experience for us.

Nice peaceful site. We were located a front row Seaview pitch.Perfect if the weather is kind.We found it a tad windy
The park owner allowed is to move onto a hard standing further back on the park.Hard stand and grass are same price.
We dound it expensive at €48 per night, €1 for showers, 50c for hot water to wash up.There is a good kitchen with electric hobs and microwave again these are chargeable.
Facilities are average however they are kept nice and clean
Lovely walk into Salthill and onto Galway city if you wish or there is a bustop at the entrance to the park which will take you into Galway City for €2 and takes about 20 minutes.

Nice view, quiet & clean site. However, price per night ASTRONOMICAL! Mr D Turpin not only charged €41 per night per unit (out of season) but charged for showers and hot water for the pots too! (We only stayed as we were wet through and needed to get ourselves sorted after a very long wet day). Showers and toilet facilities separate so have a bit of a walk if you want the loo before your shower.

No card facilities and only wants cash so be prepared.
If you can be further away from town and not need to stop for a dry out then I would recommend trying out another place and save your bank balance and get nicer more convenient services.
