Just back from two nights at the Galway Bay Hotel. This hotel is in an excellent location overlooking the seafront at Salthill and just 7/10 mins from Galway city.

We arrived at the hotel and were able to check in early which was very welcome. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. Due to the current COVID situation the hotel encourage you to pay on arrival and pay as you go for anything else you purchase. This was fine and facilitated a faster checkout.

We were in a standard room which had a double and single bed and did not overlook the sea. We tried for an upgrade but the hotel was full. The room however was grand and very clean. One thing that was poor was the shower in the bathroom which had a plastic shower curtain - surprising and disappointing in a hotel of such good quality.

The hotel follow a strict cleaning regime and on arrival reception staff explained that rooms were sealed following cleaning; staff would not enter rooms to service them unless invited but would check daily if anything was needed (which the did); tea and coffee facilities comprised disposable cardboard cups; two people only in lift at one time and sanitising stations throughout the hotel. You had to pre-order breakfast and dinner and you were advised of this in advance. We had forgotten but were able to book breakfast on arrival. It was served a la carte with a named staff member and was very enjoyable. Service was quick and efficient with staff very friendly, attentive and smartly dressed. We had food in the bar on our second night and again it was waiter service. You were allowed 1 hr 25 mins in the bar but could then move to a larger lounge area which overlooked the bay. Food was lovely though we thought the dessert menu, particularly for the small portion of Eaton mess was overpriced at €6.90.

There was WiFi throughout the hotel which was quick and efficient. There is overground and underground parking. You could use the pool but again had to prebook. Time allocated including changing in changing rooms 45 minutes.

Overall a very enjoyable stay in a lovely hotel. Would have no hesitation recommending to others.

We stayed here Saturday and Sunday 28-29th December opting for 2 nights bed & breakfast and one evening meal. The Galway Bay Hotel has a fantastic kids club and our girls ate with the other children both nights. This is perfect if you need some time together as a couple.

Everything about this hotel is 10/10. From the reception staff, bar staff, kids club reps and staff at both breakfast and in the evening.

The leisure centre is very clean and modern and has a fully equipped gym or alternatively you can sit in their comfy bar and just enjoy a few pints.

Our room was to a very high standard as usual and kept clean and tidy.

The bonus for us this time was that we got to stay a third unplanned night and the reception and porter staff very helpful as we changed rooms.

Thank you Dan Murphy and the team at The Galway Bay for what was our 15th stay.

We’re booked in for New Year 2021 already and can’t wait!!!

I just returned from staying in this world class Hotel and it was truelly wonderful from start to finish. Reservations were extremely nice to deal with on the phone. When we checked in the girls on reception were so welcoming and only one of our room was ready but they contacted us once other room was ready. We got exactly what we looked for 2 rooms beside each other with wonderful view of the sea. The room was very spacious and all the party commented how comfortable the bed and pillows were. From the moment you enter the property you will feel totally safe as the hotel has ensured its leading the way in how to provide a very safe environment during covid period. Every aspect from staff using face masks to hand sanatiser stations everywhere and was great to see a special team soley focused on sanatising everywhere. But what we will remember most was the staff in every department were fantastic and so pleasant. Big thanks to all the servers on breakfast as we had two twelve year old girls who wanted lots of diffent items for their amazing pancakes and the staff were just so helpful and nothing was a problem. This hotel is fantastic including its location but wait till you meet the staff five star highly recommend we can't wait to return 👋👋👋

Visited Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, Galway in July 2020 with my wife and two grandchildren. As it was our first break since the Covid-19 virus, we were very anxious to visit a Hotel that met all the Health protocols and have an enjoyable holiday with no great fuss.

On arrival the staff were very friendly and helped us to check in. We were in a short queue with Social Distance being strictly observed and prior to check in a staff member took our details for booking dinner, breakfast and pool times.

We were allocated a family room on the 2nd Floor. It was very well laid out with a Double and Single Bed plus 2 fold out beds.
We opted for no room service apart from new towels on the 2nd day.

The Dinners and Breakfasts were excellent and service was fast and efficient with excellent menus for both ourselves and grandchildren.

There was a very nice Bar in the Hotel and the service was very efficient and friendly.

The location is very close to Galway City and Salthill and public transport is available outside the Hotel.

Our Grandchildren enjoyed the Pool with restricted numbers.

We had a great two days in the Hotel and all the Covid-19 hygiene measures were carried out unnoticed which made us feel very safe.

We will definitely be back again.

I recently stayed here with my son and it was a very pleasant stay. Staff are so professional given the circumstances and you can see all the hard work and effort they put in to making it safe. Few minor issues with the room, the mattress, but the manager was quick to offer a resolution. So it's not so much a negative. Everywhere you went in the hotel from the receptionist to the staff cleaning the rooms they would stop and ask is there anything they can help you with or get you. I felt very safe and you can still have a sense of some normality. I would recommend to do a schedule and book the swimming, restaurants and breakfast prior to arriving as it can be busy and you Don't want to be dissapointed. We done this and it worked out great. I know not everyone wants a schedule on their holidays but in the current situation it's a must if you want to keep the kids happy :) Food was amazing in the restaurant. Staff were superb. I'll be coming back for sure.

We stayed for 3 nights over the August Bank Holiday weekend and it was busy so expensive. The location of the hotel on Salthill promenade cannot be faulted. Overall, we found the hotel just OK. The interiors are looking a bit shabby and could do with renovating. The food at breakfast was just ok, we sent back some pastries that were stale on one morning. We had dinner in the bar one evening and paid almost €50 for a chicken curry, a salad and childrens goujons and chips! At check in we inquired about using the pool and were advised that due to Covid-19 restrictions you could only book one hour slot each day but it had to be done directly with the leisure facility, this was not mentioned on the website. We were extremely disappointed to learn that all the slots for Saturday were booked out as our young kids were looking forward to it and it was one of the reasons we booked this hotel. The only slot available was for 3pm on Sunday. When we got in to the pool the next day it was freezing cold. I had to take our young children out of the pool after less than 10 minutes as their skin was turning blue. I asked the pool manager why the water was so cold, she said that it was at the normal temperature and shrugged me off. After we had dressed and were leaving, we overheard her say to a different guest that she knew the temperature was cold and had reported it FOUR days earlier but no-one had fixed it. Only one person working reception and the queue was so long that we didn't couldn't be bothered complaining. I did try to call down from the room but no-one was answering the phones either.

Just returned from a lovely 60th birthday celebration weekend at the Galway bay hotel. I wasn't sure what to expect in relation to covid but must say as someone who'd been shielding I felt safe and could see constant sanitising going on throughout the hotel.
Once we checked in to our room no staff entered it after that, a daily trolley came around to replenish towels, tea, coffee etc.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and the food and drinks delicious. The pool was perfect for a pre breakfast swim. The restaurant and bar staff were very pleasant and eager to serve.
We had a little hiccup with a preordered celebration package (probably down to crossed wires) but thanks to the manager this was rectified.
We will definitely stay again and already looking at dates for winter.

Returned from a 3 night stay and had to leave a review of our experience. On our first night the hotel was exceptionally busy and there was extremely long waits for food/drink service. I couldn’t help but feel bad for the waiting staff who were ran off their feet. Friday and Saturday night was a completely different experience and things seemed under much better control. The hotel took covid precautions seriously and the layout of the hotel meant that there was amble seating space at all times for guests. I would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to those wary about a hotel stay during times such as these. Finally, after we checked out and were on our way home, I received a phone call from Suzanna, the accommodation manager, who found an item that we had left behind us in our room. We returned to reclaim this and she wouldn’t even accept a tip to say thank you. The cleaners, leisure centre staff, waiters and waitresses, receptionists and bar staff are a credit to the Galway Bay Hotel. Your hard work was noticed and very much appreciated. Well done and already looking forward to our next visit!

Recently had a lovely overnight stay with my Husband and 2 year old Daughter. The room was spacious and comfortable with 2 single beds and a double bed.We ate in the Harvest Cafe and Atlantic Bar and food was delicious and so fresh catering for all tastes. My husband and I enjoyed a very relaxing massage in the Atlantic Beauty Salon and a refreshing dip in the pool to start the following morning in a spotless pool. Breakfast again was delicious and service so friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back again.

You don’t need to book a time for breakfast but we did for dinner. The dining room is very large and maybe depending on the time of the year that you go maybe it’s quite busy. We were there in April and the dinner crowd was very light. I know when we checked in they asked if we had reserved a time. For the little bit extra also book a room with a view of the ocean.
