After our arrival by bus from DUB Airport, we were warmly welcomed.
The location right in the city center is perfect and you have short distances to all the spots (pubs, restaurants, sightseeing).
Our 3-bed room (facing the inner courtyard) was not yet renovated but was still clean and functional. The bathroom was small but still sufficient.
However, when the window was open, there was always a smell from the kitchen in the air.
The sleeping comfort was surprisingly good despite the simpler beds!
The breakfast can be chosen from a menu and was of good quality and tasted great.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would love to come back! :)

My in laws stayed for two nights, they had a voucher with dinner included for one night and the father in law ordered the steak which was on the menu for 28 euro but was charged an extra ten euro without being told when ordering or told it wasn't included in the voucher. They said the staff were lovely but the cleaners came in in the morning to clean the room while they were still in bed which was bizarre and they didn't get to sleep until late due to all the noise outside. They said the hotel is in an ideal spot and everything is close by but they have had better experiences.

Hi Jennie, Thank you very much for this review of your in-laws stay at Eyre Square Hotel, Please accept my sincere apologies for any shortcomings they experienced during their stay with us. I am sorry that the menu was not explained more clearly to your father in law at the time he ordered however it clearly states on the inclusive menu that your in-laws dined off that the steak has a supplement. Please ask your in-laws to contact me directly at jbeattie@eyresquarehotel.com if they are travelling again to Galway. I would appreciate the opportunity to leave them with a more favorable experience of our hotel and will ensure they have a room away from the busy Galway Streets Is mise le meas, John Beattie Hotel Manager

Stayed for a week at this older budget friendly hotel in the center of Galway. Asked for a room with a walk in shower as I had arranged prior. Parking was around the corner and the hotel validated each day (reduced down to €12 a day from €24). Rooms were on the small side but that seems to be the norm in most of Europe. No AC but had a fan and could open windows. There was an elevator thank god because a week of climbing stairs would have make my knee worse lol (elevators aren’t always in older European hotels). Breakfast was included but we didn’t realize until near the end of our stay and it wasn’t mentioned anywhere online or in person. Staff were great.

The location of the hotel is right outside the train station that we took into Galway so we could not have asked for an easier walk. The rooms themselves were nice with very comfortable beds. We were on the back side of the hotel so we did not notice any loud street sounds or disruptions. Our only complaint with the room was the last day we stayed we did not have hot water for the showers. The breakfast provided had a nice variety and was very delicious. The front desk staff was very helpful and gave us several suggestions for dinner along with directions because we were having some issues with service on our cell phones. We also ate dinner one of the nights there and all had lovely meals.

Dear seidel21215, Thank you very much for your lovely 5/5 review and for your recommendation of our hotel to fellow visitors to Galway. I am very glad to see that you had a great stay with us and I hope that you will be returning again in the future. It is always very reassuring to read such fantastic comments about our friendly and helpful team members. I am also delighted to read that you found our food at both breakfast and dinner time to be so lovely and delicious. We had a local supply issue on that morning from the mains but got it rectified swiftly and would not envisage it happening again so I am extremely sorry that you were affected by this I hope that you will be able to return to the West of Ireland again, Is mise le meas, John Beattie Hotel Manager

Disappointed in many ways with our stay at the Eyre Square Hotel. We arrived during a busy time of the day and it was pure chaos just to unload our luggage. There is parking nearby at the transit station parking lot, but they don't validate parking there. The validated parking is a 5+ minute walk away. If you have luggage to haul, this won't be fun. Be aware, there is no air-conditioning in the rooms of this hotel. Some of the rooms have a cheap, tiny, plastic fan. One of our party's room did not have the fan and even though we asked for a fan several times, they kept saying they would bring one to the room and never did! It was hot and uncomfortable. We had breakfast in the hotel and the waitress said they had coffee for days and that's exactly what it tasted like (days old coffee). The tap water in the hotel tasted terrible - tasted like iron pipes. Definitely would not stay here again. If you are going to Galway for a boat ride out to the Cliffs of Moher, I would recommend staying at a nice hotel outside the city and park in the lot near the port. Not a fan of Galway, sorry to say. I gave them 2 stars but they earned a 1 with how they treated us about the fan.

Hi Daniel, I am very sorry to hear that you did not have a positive experience while staying with us, Unfortunately with our central location overnight carparking options are limited to the purpose built and secure facilities that are nearest to us and which we advise of on our website. We were caught out with the hottest June on record in Ireland howevee now have fans placed in all bedrooms. I can assure you the filter coffee which we serve at breakfast is colombian roasted and prepared freshly each day. If your preference is a speciality coffee then we can also organise this for you as a supplement to your breakfast. Thank you again for choosing us for your city break in Galway and please accept my apologies that it did not fufill your expectations on this occasion Is mise le meas John Beattie Hotel Manager

Nice warm welcome at reception, check in was quick and easy.
Bedroom was adequate for 1 night, Bedlinen was ripped and edges are all friad, needs replacing! Bathroom linen was rough and well worn too.
On my booking I had a €40 voucher for food / drink at the bar & restaurant. And you would be hard pressed to spend it as service was so bad, to a point that 3 couples walked out of the bar (including us) and got food and drinks in the pub across the road as there was no staff, and to note the bar was empty at the time bar the few couples.
Bar & restaurant was empty, cold, lacked any atmosphere. When we got a drink later that night the staff was lacking again and just very disappointing. Every other Hotel/Bars on the same street where busy, had atmosphere.
Breakfast was horrible. Scrambled eggs looked and tasted like it was made the day before. We abandon our breakfast and checked out and got breakfast elsewhere that morning.
Overall, if your looking for a bed to sleep in for the night to visit Galway city center, I would look elsewhere for better value.
Disappointing to say that I won't be booking to stay here again.

I stayed here with my mom for 9 nights. We specifically selected this hotel because of its great location and walkability. That part did not disappoint however, we ran into room problems and staffing issues. We ended up moving rooms when our first room was located next to the elevator and the although the second room was better the doors slamming constantly is enough to wake anyone up. We also found the bar staff to be quite rude. After sending back a poorly made drink we were given terrible attitude and then then next morning the bar manager refused to speak to us, even when we greeted her. It was so off-putting. So if you like slamming doors and rude bar staff stay here. I will say we had a great conversation with a woman who was working the front desk. So, clearly they aren’t all bad. Would we stay here again with so many other options? Probably not.

Great location, very close to coach bus stop, great staff but our room was very noisy we were on the 3rd floor and could hear the music from downstairs and the seagulls until the wee hours of the morning. The beds were comfortable. I think we had an older room so the tap in the bathroom we did not have cold water and the separate hot water if you flush the toilet or had a shower did not come.

Eyre Square hotel offered a great central location, comfortable beds, great water pressure in shower, window view out room 311 was very poor looked at a wall 5 ft away, but the breakfast-restaurant was very quaint and staff was informative, and friendly. Nearby Park was nice, streets were filled with music and fun. Lots of shops and restaurants, pubs to visit!

The staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. I think this is the hotel's biggest strength. However my very real challenge in staying here was that I did not realise there is nowhere to park at the hotel, not even to drop off your luggage and check in. The hotel is on a road where you are not allowed to stop or park, as it would obstruct the road and the traffic (see attached picture). Parking is available at the Eyre Square shopping centre (which is a 5-7 minute walk away) and one is issued vouchers which you use to leave the car park. However - I had a lot of trouble with these "multi entry" vouchers which work the first time but not after that. The staff at the front desk tried extremely hard to solve the problem, even contacting the management office at the car park and giving them my details so I could be let out of the car park without paying if my voucher did not work. I was very thankful for that, but at the end of the day it was irritating to keep asking for help all the way through my 6 night stay. It was also extremely hard to navigate getting my luggage out the car in the rain, and then back into the car at the end of my stay - when I was obstructing traffic. Thankfully my daughter was there to help me, so I did not obstruct traffic on this busy road for long.

I don't know to be honest
We parked in the nearby train station parking lot, but you must return once a day to renew parking.
I'm sure if you phone them they will accommodate your late arrival.
No rooms are hot and stuffy
No iron.
