Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Saw advert in Galway advertiser for brunch at Queen street restaurant so decided to try it today. ..very disappointing … poor choices on menu - 2 of us had eggs Benedict - eggs nice, side salad nice but 1 streaky rasher wasn’t enough for price. 1 member of our party had chowder, it was very thick. The area was poorly lit also. Waitress was very pleasant & brought jug water & asked if we wanted our beverages beofre or with meal, which is considerate. Ove, menu needs revisiting - should be full Irish, mini Irish, scrambled eggs, avacado etc. options for a brunch menu.

I had a good stay with my friend at the Victoria Hotel. I would say the only downside was the parking situation (But it's bad everywhere in Ireland!) and the fact that my room had absolutely ZERO water pressure in the shower. We did breakfast here daily and it was decent, the room was clean and decently comfortable, and not suuuuuuper small like other places we stayed in Ireland. The parking garage is about 2-3 blocks away which isn't a huge deal and you can load/unload your car in front of the hotel.

We arrived on Friday for my birthday weekend my wife arranged 2 nights away for us she asked for a little something to be left in the room for my birthday and she was told this can be arranged so when we got to our room there was nothing there so we tried calling reception and we couldn't get through so we had to call the main hotel phone and my wife asked why there was nothing left that she requested and she's was told if your not happy that she could have her money back and go else where so as an experience I would find it extremely hard to recommend this hotel as the staff and room service need to up skill the guy at the front desk was so rude to my wife and has no customer skills at all we love galway but not this hotel .

If it weren't for the friendly and helpful staff, I am not sure I would have enjoyed my stay here. The first thing you should know is that the location is excellent for getting around Galway. But then if it is important to you, you should know there is no AC in the rooms which during our stay was warmer so you needed to keep the window open at night. That would have been okay other than my room backed to right where they collect trash using the large trucks so it was quite noisy. The room itself was decent and clean.

This hotel is Wonderful clean and a perfect location for exploring. Our only complaint is that The doors slam to close so that made sleeping quite difficult. But the restaurant was great and had many options for different dietary needs. All in all, I’d recommend!

Ideal location just off Eyre Square, rooms are ideal and good bar & restaurant downstairs. Parking close to the hotel and everything in the city is walking distance. Overall good value and would use the hotel again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Victoria Hotel and for visiting the Christmas markets you couldn’t get a better location. The hotel was nice and clean although in need of a bit of sprucing up in places such as the toilet roll holder coming off the wall in the bathroom and a seam rip in the bedclothes. The staff are all very mannerly and helpful and even on a day we chose not to have the room serviced, there was a bag of fresh towels and extra toilet paper left outside our door. The breakfast at the hotel was lovely and had everything you could want and we also visited the hotel restaurant on one night of our trip where we also had a fantastic meal. The one downside of this hotel is the parking situation. We visited during a weekend near Christmas and the parking facility for the hotel is the QPark for the Eyre Square shopping centre and right beside the Christmas markets. This made it impossible to get a spot. The car park is very tight also ans it was a very stressful experience to find somewhere to park. We also then didn’t want to leave on smaller day trips as didn’t want to have to come back and try park again so that is the one thing that would put me off visiting this hotel again. Otherwise it is a lovely spot and perfect for a trip to Galway city.

Thank you so much for your positive rating! We will share this with the rest of the team to let them know to keep up the amazing work! Our team here, at The Victoria Hotel, is committed to providing high-quality customer service, and we’re thrilled to hear that we made a good impression on you. We're sorry to hear that the parking situation had a negative impact on your stay. Unfortunately, with us beig a city centre hotel, and it being near to Christmas, Galway city centre can get very busy. We are unable to offer on site parking due to our location but we do offer a discounted rate to try and make up for the inconvenience. Again, we apologise for any troubles that casued you and we thank you for your understanding. That said, we hope that doesn't dissuade you from visiting us again soon! - The Victoria Team
