We arrived on Easter Sunday at about noon, and despite being early to check in, they were able to get us into our rooms. They had one kind in each room instead of the two twins that we requested, and Carmel was able to separate the beds into two twins for us while we were out on the town. The beds were pretty comfortable, and the showers were nice. The breakfast was delightful, and Carmel was an attentive host. We stayed for 2 nights, and the last day, we had a full day tour, and Carmel let us leave our car parked in their lot with our bags in it for the day. A small warning - the property has a small dog (which is fine, she wasn't a problem at all), and there are dog gates around. I didn't see one and tripped over it, making a very ungraceful fall, but I didn't hurt myself. Just be careful if you are, like me, clumsy. I would say that if you are sensitive to road noise, you might not be happy here - there was traffic all night, as it is right next to a road. Not sure what you would be able to find much quieter in Galway, though.…
Ok where do we start , This was a total disaster , 3hrs drive to get to the place , to find the entire building empty, no cars no people anywhere , we rang the bell waited 22 minutes for it to open , to find a very nice foreign girl almost in tears, the girl had been left to deal with our ordeal by the owners that had the balls to face us, so we had booked a room months in advance to arriving, to be told sorry there is no room at the inn, we thought this is a funny way to great your guest and thought for a short second this is a pull the leg situation, as this is new years eve , (evening might I add when we arrived ) we came to Galway for the new years eve count down to spend it with family and friend who also travelled all over the country and outside the country to meet up in Galway city for the count down , anyways to out disbelief we were told again , sorry but there are no rooms by a real nice foreign lady that really was so upset over the situation , she explained to us , the owners daughter got married the day before and all the rooms are occupied by family and friends , but we tried to explain , we are after driving 100s of miles 3 hrs journey without stopping , all we wanted to do is shower get ready and go meet up with family , she told us then to wait a second , to out disbelief we could hear a lady roaring and shouting abuse at the poor girl in reception, we could her her saying to the girl , just go into any room upstairs..grab all the belongings to someone and out them someplace clean and make a room up for US , NOW at this stage the girl was in tears and explained to us that she was stuck baby sitting a pile of kids for there family , was also cleaning all day while things were in full swing and under way wedding wise and was been treated let's just say she didn't actually say the word but like a slave with no thanks and all the abuse to go with it from the owner lady, we could hear how nasty she was on the other end of the phone ,( I personally would of walked out and told her to keep her job and that I was leaving so come back and mind the heap of kids you left here and come back and sort your own rooms out and deal with this problem that we learnt was the lady on the phone out of pure and sheer greed that over booked the room on the basis that someone may not turn up and she could still make money ) so the nightmare that was unfolding in front of our eyes was almost over as my partner said I'm not staying here after this been done to us the way it was done it's not on , the owner started screaing again down the phone to the poor cleaning lady (that's now an unpaid baby sitter into her second day of it that was told to clean out a room and had no help and expected to watch a new baby and other kids down stairs in this huge building...it was impossible for anyone to do let alone this poor upset girl, well when my partner said it's not good enough and we want our money returned as there is no room ready or was it never going to be ready for us a last minute rush job is not good enough at 7 pm in the evening , my partner was so upset , and the screaming from the owner down the phone started and we could hear the lady say to the girl that's in tears under no circumstances will u give a penny back to these people if there leaving and don't want to stay there not getting the money , we explained this is a form of theft and not on and we wanted or money's so we could at-least try find a place to book into yes ON NEW YEARS EVE, one of the busiest nights ever no matter where you are in the world we knew it was either going to be impossible or a very tall measure to find another place ..the only other option was to go out meet or friend and hope someone would have room in there hotel or b&b for us to stay..or then there was the real bad option that been sleep in our small rental car for the night , in fact the latter was the end choice unfortunately, the poor foreign lady explained to us should was not allowed to give our money back as we heard the owner say to her do not give it back or we will take the money from your salary to the girl , we were so appalled by this we actuall just looked at one another and so way are we staying now nor will we ever , we were kinda glad of it in the end as a few days later we went to write a review to let people know what your dealing with here with that b&b...we were shocked to read the 1 star reviews up the way to 2 and 3 and so on, the reviews are not good , and have read the woman that was screaming down the phone is some sort of dragon lady anyways , the place is suppose to be filthy and tatty , how can they actually get away with all that type stuff and still be allowed to use theses sites ..u would understand if it was one or two unhappy people but to see them in handfuls is beyond comprehension altogether ...we are going to take that lady to the small claims court in the principles of what she done to us and been so damn greedy and to be a nasty nasty individual to that poor foreign cleaning lady ...you could tell she was use to the horrible retched abuse she gets on a daily basis , she told us she work here for over 10 years , we looked at each other in shock , why on earth would you work for someone that abuses you like this, are you an illegal immigrant or what is it , no one can take abuse for that length of time , she would be sadly missed I would imagine ..then we learnt she is hired only for a couple hours a day and expected to clean and organise the entire house without much help at all...guys this place is gigantic . And this is the reason why so much negatives in the reviews over the dirt of the place that's something we cannot comment on as we didn't actually stay there at all , but the enterance area was stinking of dog urine and we could see the welcome mat on the floor covered in dog poop , which was all walked over and into the ground , which also the girl explained that the owners family dog is destroying the ground floor in urine and dog poop and no I e is cleaning it up at all , , this poor poor lady are hearts go out to her for having to deal with that tight money grabbing horrible witch owner lady , she's one lucky woman she was no where to be seen as my partner said she would of gotten our money no matter what and I know that certainly wouldn't be pleasant nor pretty , so after all this we have learned these types of things happen in a regular basis…
A lovely family run B&B. We got an Excellent welcome and service. Room was lovely with tea and coffee facilities. Very clean and bright throughout. Currently it’s all decorated for Christmas Great breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners.
We were very disappointed in this B & B. I booked 2 rooms with bathrooms. He tried to put me in a very small room with a bathroom down the hall by the lobby. When I refused he gave me a small room with a bathroom. The building is run down and close to dumpy. On a busy street but parking available. They serve a very good breakfast. I would not stay there again.
The room was small but ok. The room was supposed to have a fridge but it didn't. Instead, there was a shared kitchenette of which fridge was available. The bathroom was also small. Breakfast and wifi were good.
I booked this property for 5 adults (my mom and sisters) - when we arrived the owner told us she didnt have enough beds, and it wasn't her problem that we didn't all fit in (despite charging in excess of 250euro for one bedroom for the night!). There was no apology, no attempt to provide an explanation and no mention of any money back - and so one adult ended up sleeping on the floor. This is unacceptable and quite frankly ridiculous!
The staff was extremely nice and friendly. Everything was very clean, we enjoyed the food and they made us feeling like at home. Great location, near to the city center with a bus stop in front of the guesthouse. They gave us a ride to the station by helping us with the luggage. I highly recommend this place.
Lovely guesthouse with a kitchen (which was useful especially to store snacks and drinks in) and sitting area. Breakfast was good, selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and even American style pancakes which I thought was a lovely touch! Was also nice to be provided with wine glasses in the room, not a lot of places provide this without asking. Room nice and clean and the bathroom smelt like bleach when initially entering which was nice.
Had a fantastic time staying here. The staff were lovely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good every morning. Everything was clean and fresh. I would highly recommend staying here.. i was delighted that it was also dog friendly and my 2dogs loved it. We definitely be back to stay again.
