Our group of 4 stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our cycling trip with West Ireland Cycling. Marie and her family are lovely! The beds were very comfortable and the location is perfect for exploring Galway. Breakfast is fantastic with lots of options (definitely have the traditional Irish breakfast) . Theo and Bruno, the resident cat and dog, are so sweet and will accept your affection if you are an animal lover, but leave you alone if you are not:
Stayed beginning October 2019 - added an extra night after getting there. Marie is wonderful, has good advice on sightseeing. Great breakfasts with lots of choices, place is spotless, warm and cozy. Just a lovely place to stay! Will return!
Our room was cute and clean. Cozy but not cramped. There was only street parking, but finding a space wasn't an issue, and there were no limits on the amount of time you could park. A reasonable walk to town. We were leaving very early on the last morning of our stay, and the hostess was very accommodating - she offered us toast, coffee, and all the other self serve breakfast items even though she was still setting up for the other guests.
Inishmore was within walking distance of town. The hostess was very sweet and helpful. The room was nice and clean and breakfast was fabulous. In a very nice neighborhood. There was several nice restaurants close by.
We had a great one night stay in Galway. The host is very polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and pretty. Breakfast was very good and tasteful with a lot of choices. The area is quite during evening, however a 15 min walk will lead you into the beating hearth of Galway.
Marie and her husband (plus the 2 dogs) were excellent hosts to our accommodation in Ireland. Kids from BookLand summer camp loved the rooms and breakfast. We spent relaxed evenings also in the cozy living room. We greatly recommend it to you!
We arrived after the 2-6 PM check-in window (though we did call ahead and were told that would be okay) and it seems they were not very happy that we didn't arrive earlier. We got what felt like a pretty cold greeting. We were put out in a "guest house" in the back yard. It felt more like a shed converted into an extra place to house people. While the bathroom was in pretty good condition and seemingly recently renovated, that was really the end of what was nice about the unit. The furnishings were very well worn and dusty. The main bed was a double bed so it was pretty tight for two people. There was another bed in the unit but it was more like a cot and essentially not fit for sleeping on. The mini refrigerator had been unplugged for some time and was room temperature, musty, and dirty. The unit itself, being in the back yard and detached from the house, felt unsafe. We had a door that locked but we didn't dare leave the windows open at night (they swung out pretty wide) not knowing for sure how safe the area was. The room, though, was very musty and warm. There was no fan in the unit at all either so it was a pretty warm night of sleep. While I imagine that they do have free WiFi, we weren't able to use it. After our less than enthusiastic greeting and check in, they forgot to mention the WiFi password. There is also no guest information paper or booklet in the unit so you don't have any information to go off of. I felt like if I went to the front building and rang the doorbell again (no I was not given a key or any sort of access to the main building), I would be further inconveniencing them. (There is no 24 hour staff as it appears this place is run entirely by a couple and their children.) The free parking that is advertised is a bit misleading as well. There are really only three parking spots on site. If more than three cars show up, you are left to either find a spot on the street (like we had to) or you park your car in their driveway blocking all other guests from getting in/out. The breakfast included in the price was pretty good. There were multiple options and lots of additional things to eat while they cooked your breakfast. That being said, this is a place that I wouldn't recommend and will definitely never stay at again. The ratings this place has received seem very over-inflated based on my experience.…
Someone who works here is a smoker. The smell permeated Inishmore House. Wouldn't have stayed here if we'd known. The tripadvisor page says "all rooms are non-smoking," but that statement may not apply to the owner's/operator's quarters. Not a fan of the velvet painting in the room, but perhaps that grated because of the smoke smell. The "private car park," in our experience, was out on the street.
We selected this place because our friends stayed here and enjoyed it. We actually stayed in the same room they did, separate from the main house. The room has been converted into a studio like apartment, so could have easily used the small kitchenette for some meals. The only down side was your view from the windows was the van parked in the back driveway. Marie was cheerful and friendly and the afternoon we arrived we sat in the front room, where a fire was lit and warming the room. Very nice. Parking was not an issue as we arrived by train so walked or used the bus our three days here. Breakfasts in the morning were delicious with a variety of dishes to select from. All in all, a wonderful three days in Galway and we'd stay here again.
We stayed here 1 night while passing through Galway. We ended up with the cottage out back so didn't see any of the rooms in the main house. Marie welcomed us and showed us our accommodations. There is off-street parking which was a plus. NOTICE: The parking is tight, so beware if you have a large vehicle. The room was dated, but clean and comfy. The cottage out back also has a small kitchen area with fridge so would be suitable for a few days stay. A quick 15 min walk into town. Breakfast was great and plentiful. Would stay again.
