I have visited this establishment on an almost weekly basis due to it's proximity to where I live and work and have generally found it to be slightly above standard but several weeks ago a friend and I who was just discharged from hospital due to a work ralated injury decided to go for a drink or 2, we were advised by several patrons to avoid the food on this occasion. While I attended the bathroom my friend (who had just been released from hospital) was accosted by the elderly waiter as he had tripped coming into the restaurant, he was abused verbally and became very upset and when I returned from the bathroom he explained the situation. I requested to speak to the elderly waiter who then told me to f off despite him knowing me as a regular, I requested his name and received the same response. I have never received such treatment in my life and it has upset me due to the fact I would visit your establishment regularly especially during the winter months as to promote local businesses during difficult times of the year but I will make it my effort for friends, family and colleagues to avoid "the huntsman inn" at all costs !! Terrible experience, topped by terrible management, i hope to receive an apology, not only by your company but by the elderly man working there. Please avoid at all costs!!!…
A very large room with a separate small lounge area as well as a large bathroom. Very clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. There was ample free parking available. You can leave the car as it was only a 15 - 20 minute walk into the heart of Galway City. The Huntsman also provided bar/bistro services. The food was good as seems to be the case with most pubs these days. There was no air conditioning in the rooms. Internet was not good in our room, but otherwise okay throughout the complex. Would stay here again.
We turned up without a booking on a busy night due to the Galway Races. The young barman was really helpful. The guy in charge of bookings got us a table halfway through my Guinness. The food was great. I recommend the Lentil Curry. Very friendly waitress and the food came at a great pace. Give it a go👍
Having already had dinner here the previous evening (which was positive enough experience!), I had high hopes for a pleasant coffee and catch up with friends this morning. We'd just sat down when we were instructed by a male staff member to order as quickly as possible as tables were in high demand and breakfast was ending at 11.30am (it was 11am, every table around us was vacant and, if tables are desperately 'needed', place a reserved sign on them!). While we were a little taken aback by the abrasive attitude, we went ahead and ordered coffees and some food. The same staff member arrived with four coffees instead of three (we were a group of three adults), blamed us for ordering four coffees(!) and said he'd strike one off the bill - like he was doing us some sort of favour! He then interrupted again a few moments later with yet more instructions - this time, to give him back the menus unless we were going to order more food (surely the menus should have been lifted when the order was taken). At this point, we'd had enough of the unprovoked petulance and provided some feedback to the manager. I have fond memories of this establishment having visited many times in the past - needless to say, I will not return nor will I recommend it to anyone visiting Galway. …
Excellent food and great service. Was staying nearby and enjoyed a family evening meal and breakfast the following morning. Both meals were excellent and very tasty; made from fresh with care. The burger was absolutely sensational. Easy parking too.
We chose this restaurant for our last night in Galway as it was close to the dog races and a straight walk (though a good half hour) from our B&B. I thought it would be sort of an average “chain restaurant” sort of experience, but it turned out to be the best meal we had during our 11 day stay in Ireland! Our waitress was funny, efficient and super helpful. My son and I had the pork chop, my daughter had the beet, poached pear and goat cheese salad with the duck confit appetizer, and my husband had seafood curry. Afterward we had the apple pie and the cheesecake for dessert and all of it was delicious.
I am a regular customer to the Huntsman in Galway. Starter was cold soup followed by todays steak burgers which were like car tyres - rubber at its best served with chips. Thank god for Burger King!!!
Stayed in the hotel two nights it is the most I have ever paid for a two night stay £135 a night with NO BREAKFAST included. Breakfast was another €10 !!! Room was not cleaned after first night, so no top up of milk and coffee supplies disgraceful for the amount paid per night. Cannot comment on the food as decided to not chance it judging by the room service. Would not recommend a stay here unless they reduce their price to met their service.
It’s 3:30 PM on the 1st July, and I just tried to go to the Hunstman Inn with my family for some coffee/drinks. Upon entry, I asked to could we sit for that, no food. The man who was on the reception said yeah sure, go ahead, you’ll have to find a table in there. I asked would it be ok to sit outside and was told no, they were doing work on the area. I didn’t mind this at all; but I was spoken to as if I was making an issue. I tried to say to him oh that’s fine no worries; but was still replied to like ‘yeah, yeah, ok’. We were then pointed to the conservatory to the right of the bar. Upon walking into the conservatory; there was another load of work going on, with a big machine blowing hot air across the room, to the point nobody would be able to sit comfortably let alone hear eachother talk. We didn’t understand why we were told to come out here, and had to re enter the bar area where we stood in the middle of the room wondering where to go as it was very busy. Again we were met by the man on the reception again who was quite short with us again l, and we just left. There was no need for that kind of interaction. Happily sitting in Flannerys hotel now enjoying a simple coffee with polite staff.…
Simple yet elegant menu. All dishes executed with style. Quality food products. Our server Lucile offered great knowledge of offerings and some great recommendations. Desserts fab, cheesecake and apple pie homemade and delish.
