We booked two rooms at the Amber Heights Guesthouse on Booking.com, for one night. It was rather expensive - $584 US dollars. I made the reservation back in May for a stay in August. One week after making the reservation, we had to change our travel plans and won't be staying in Galway. I cancelled the reservation (within 1 week of making it). THEY REFUSE TO REFUND ME MY MONEY! They claim that it was non refundable. I have emailed them, called them directly, had Booking.com call them and email them. They will not refund my money! And they won't tell me the name of the person I am dealing with. They have since booked the rooms - which is not hard considering I cancelled in May for rooms in August! Even with the rooms booked, they will NOT refund my money. They are being completely irrational and irresponsible, and horrible customer service. Be very careful with booking with Amber Heights Guesthouse. They are not nice people and will take your money and give you nothing in return.…
I really recommend Amber because of the helpfull staff and the lovely bedroom. There is tea and coffee also and bathroom products. Quiet place, really agreable. The place is at 30 minutes by foot from the city center, but you have buses you Can take. For the beaches Amber is a pretty good location.
Super impressed with our short stay here. We were well accommodated for our family of four - rooms were clean, good free wifi, bathroom toiletries provided, and a very handy laundry service available too (this was great). Breakfast was served promptly and service was friendly. Whilst we didn’t use it, there is a sitting room available too until 10pm, and a small variety of items you can purchase (snacks, drinks and alcohol, travel adaptors). Location is about a 20 min walk to the centre or a 5 min car trip so quite handy. Think of Amber Heights as this: cosiness of a B&B with some of the conveniences of a hotel.
The hotel are amazing! The staff are very friendly, the place was cleaner and there were everything than I needed to inside! I stayed there with my mother in law and my husband! The space are good for us as well!
Last minute booking in Galway. Arrived to a very friendly host, who was very helpful. The room and hotel decor is beautiful. The wallpaper is stunning. The walls are a bit thin and sound travels easily but all in all it was brilliant value for money and will definitely stay there again! Wifi is strong and rooms are clean. Thank you for a great stay!
We were welcomed to the property and we felt at ease there. It was very quiet which really suited us. My two girls loved the fact that there were pancakes and nutella available for breakfast and there was Free WiFi. The staff member on duty at breakfast very kindly and without question, cut up oranges I provided to take with me. Breakfast was served quickly and was delicious. There was a wide variety of items available for breakfast. I loved the sitting room and other facilities provided even though I did not use them. Check in and checkout was quick. I will use this guesthouse again and I will recommend to others.
I Booked this place at last minute as I was attending a wedding in salthill and had to cancel one Hotel in favour of here. I had rang ahead to see if they would allow me to check in early and get showered and changed as I was flying in from the UK that morning. They accommodated my request without any additional charge. The staff were very polite and helpful. The room itself was small but was fine for what I needed, Everything I needed was there. There is a lovely large lounge/tv room if you so need it. I opted to have the breakfast at an extra cost of €7, which was a bargain. The continental breakfast options were vast and the cooked breakfast came very fast. Checkout was a breeze. It is about a 20min walk from the Salthill Promenade, but that is not a problem. I would definately stay here again.…
We stayed here for one night during a trip driving around the Republic. The staff were friendly, the room was basic but clean & tidy with a comfortable bed & the bathroom clean with a good shower. During our trip we had paid more for less comfortable rooms so we were suitably impressed with Ambers. Breakfast was available but we slept late (see comment about comfortable bed above!) & so decided to get something on the road. If we were in the area again we would certainly consider staying here.
Stayed in room 13 on New Year's Eve 2016 with my partner who booked the room. Allowing for the fact that it was New Year's Eve and a last minute booking the room was vastly overpriced (€275 pn v €135 for following w/end and cheaper later in the year) which led to a feeling of being exploited. I admit to being a light sleeper but I found it difficult when there was a lot of noise and shouting in the corridor outside the room which went on for approximately 15 minutes without anyone coming to investigate. This involved people banging on doors and demanding to be allowed in to say "Happy New Year" or to collect their bags.. Room 13 is situated beside a room which appeared to contain machinery of some type (possibly an aircon boiler) which emitted a loud humming sound and vibration every 10/15 mts. This made sleeping extremely difficult. Even allowing for being a poor sleeper the above is unacceptable and the shameless raising of the price smacks of exploitation.…
Room was clean and spacious, we arrived late for check in, but was met at reception by a very pleasant girl. Breakfast was very delicious. out of the way far enough to be away from the city but still close enough to enjoy it.
