Situated on the seafront in Dun Laoghaire, Haddington House has panoramic views of Dublin Bay. Originally four Victorian townhouses the hotel began its life as Haddington House, a finishing school for girls, before being converted into a hotel in the 1950s. We are continuing to develop the hotel property but in keeping with the unique heritage of the building. Our fifty en suite bedrooms have flat screen multi-channel TV's, free WiFi, Nespresso coffee machines, digital radios, hair dryers and filtered still and sparkling water. Our newer 'Classic' and 'Deluxe' rooms also come with an in-room safe, a mini fridge stocked with fresh milk, as well as a complimentary Irish Times. Most of the rooms in these categories also have spectacular sea views. Oliveto, the award-winning restaurant with views of the sea, serves Italian-inspired fare and is extremely popular so booking is highly recommended. There's also some unique spaces to try while you stay: The Parlour, which serves cocktails during the evening as well as offering Afternoon Tea on weekends, and The Garden Bar, offering drinks and pizzas overlooking Dun Laoghaire's coast line. The location is hard to beat with Dun Laoghaire DART station just a 5-minute walk away which provides regular rail connections to Dublin's city centre. The Aviva Stadium and the RDS can be reached after a 10-minute DART rail journey. If you're staying in the area, we have partnered up with a number of local businesses so guests can enjoy discounts on activities. The beautiful village of Dalkey is a short trip down the coast and is great for an afternoon's ramble. Directly opposite us is the historic east pier which was built especially for the arrival of Queen Victoria in 1900. Around the corner is the National Maritime Museum and the James Joyce Tower made famous by Ulysses is just a 5-minute walk away. If you fancy a dip, we'll supply you with towels for a visit to the well-known swimming spot, the 40 foot (beware of the seals!) We look forward to welcoming you to Haddington House.

We stayed for three nights to join our daughter as the last stay in our four weeks’ trip around Ireland The hotel enjoys a very convenient and privileged location which makes it a great base from which to get easily into Dublin and other surroundings. There is a train station only 5 mins walk away with frequent services into Dublin and along the coast. The hotel is elevated and has a lovely outlook over the adjoining harbour and pier with regular ferry services to Howth. One of our daily excursions involved taking the train to Howth and returning on the ferry. A highly recommended trip. The attached Restaurant which is operated by the hotel is an excellent facility as are the bar areas. Whilst I did score the reception staff a five star - there was one slight hesitation as our initial reception upon arrival, we felt was a little curt by comparison with our reception experiences at other hotels and indeed the other experiences throughout our remaining stay at Haddington. Whilst a lack of a concierge service for lifting our heavy cases from the car park up the steps into the hotel was not a problem for us – I can see that it would be a serious issue for some others. Whilst our room did indeed enjoy a very good sea view - by comparison with other similar hotel experiences it was cramped and the bathroom facilities were distinctly undersize, including a small shower. Although the room was clean and tidy – the fittings were noticeably dated. Our overall summary is that we were satisfied with our experience – principally because of the location; very good ground floor services (bar and restaurant); parking; helpful and courteous staff and cleanliness. The experience/booking therefore represented reasonable value for money.

We love it here, everything is just perfect. We were a little disappointed when we booked and no sea view rooms were available due to being renovated. We were sure we would be a little disappointed with any other room, how wrong we were, our room was fabulous. Spacious, spotless with beautiful decor, fabulous coffee machine, tasty treats and a large bathroom with super powerful shower. In the rooms you can borrow a beach bag for warm days and use a hot water bottle for cooler days. There are a number bikes in the foyer that you can borrow, the views along the sea road are stunning whether you cycle or walk.

The bar area is lovely, with plush fabrics and gorgeous colours, it feels very decadent.

Breakfast is really good, lovely continental selection with really tasty breads and pastries. The selection of cooked options were fabulous, eggs Benedict, smashed avocado and thick local bacon were delicious. The window seats give an amazing view of the harbour.

The staff were delightful, especially the lady who checked us out on the morning of the 11/3, she is so generous with her knowledge and recommendations as to where to visit locally. The young lady at breakfast each morning was so friendly. Both are an absolute credit to Haddington House.

We can’t wait to return and stay in one of the new renovated sea view rooms.

Highly recommended.

We had a 4 night stay as a couple, but part of a larger group of 12 people. Every single one of us thought the beds to be extremely comfortable, so much so it was mentioned at breakfast.
Breakfast was also great! A selection of something for all and service was fast and efficient.
The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, it's a 5 minute walk from the Dart train station into Dublin, a return ticket is a little over 5 Euros. However, there are a number of local bars and pubs in the vicinity. Our large group used the bar as a meeting point for drink prior to arrangements, the cocktails are good, as is the wine, the guniess and the service.
Our only surprise was that on the last evening we booked into Olivetto to eat, we were not advised that we would need to be on a set menu prior to eating which made things difficult for a couple of people with dietary requirements. A compromise was made with staff. The food on my part was extremely good, I had lamb which was superbly cooked.
*** I really enjoyed our stay and will likely return**

We booked direct with the hotel and the service from first point of contact, to the second we checked out, was excellent.
We travelled with family who have limited mobility and Sinead couldn’t have done more to make sure our guests were in rooms that most suited their needs, taking time to e-mail to ensure that our visit worked for them.
When we arrived we couldn’t have been happier with the beautiful location overlooking the sea and then more so when we entered the lovely decorated reception.
All of the staff were professional and friendly, extra little shout out to the lovely doorman.
The beautifully decorated Cocktail parlour served fantastic cocktails and the restaurant attached to the hotel served one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time.
We had rooms in different areas in the hotel, some recently had been renovated but all exceptionally clean.
We were lucky to have beautiful weather right up until the day we checked out…Emma couldn’t have been more helpful ensuring that we stayed as dry as possible while making our way to the Dart (excellent train service) to head to Dublin, she really did go above and beyond to help my Dad stay dry in his wheelchair.
Thank you all for a wonderful stay and for making a very special family birthday weekend even more special. We hope to see you all again soon!

We wanted a special break in one of our favourite coastal locations and the Haddington delivered in spadefuls. This is a 3 star hotel in a 5 star location with staff and facilities to match. From the moment we entered we were met with warm and attentive hospitality which only grew each day. We were so glad we booked a sea view room looking straight out at the lively east pier and everything Dublin Bay has to offer. We were so lucky to have visited during a dry, sunny spell which heightened our experience. Please, please if you stay, have at least one meal in the hotel restaurant (Oliveto) One of the best meals we have ever eaten and breakfast each morning was amazing and diverse. As an artist I was also impressed by the choice of hotel artwork and lobby decor. It is our understanding that the owners are planning an upgrade. We cannot wait to see the results. This little hotel is on an upward trajectory. It already has 4 stars in its service delivery (big shout out to the ladies at reception who were among the friendliest we've met) and location within easy reach of both Dublin city to the north and the opulent coastal villages and towns to the south. We wish them well on the next chapter of their historic journey thus far. We look forward to a return trip and heartily recommend you choose Haddington House. You won't be disappointed.

An extremely pleasant and clean hotel located on the seafront. Attention to detail was amazing and we really enjoyed our stay. The plug in the bathroom didn’t fit completely so water leaked a bit, but no real issue.
Highly recommend staying here as it’s so close to Dublin but without the restrictions staying in Dublin City centre can have (parking etc)

An excellent experience from the welcome by the friendly Doorman to the reception and waiting staff. All extremely friendly and helpful. Our sea view room was excellent value and was clean and bright with interesting and novel additions of hot water bottles and swim towel baskets. High standard of bathroom facilities and excellent soft towel with loads of shampoo and soaps etc. Breakfast in the Oliveto Restaurant was a treat with a fine selection of continental pastry and juice options as well as a wide range of cooked items. We chose the cooked Irish breakfast and haven't need to eat again for days! The overall atmosphere is calm quiet and inviting, especially in "The Parlour" where we spent late hours after dinner indulging in too many cocktails and liquors! It's a pleasant surprise to come across a very reasonably priced 3 star hotel with 5 star standards when it's more usual to find it the other way round! The management and staff have much to be proud of in every regard. Well done Haddington House!

We spent a wonderful weekend in Dún Laoighaire & the Haddingtom to celebrate our wedding anniversary - from prior to arrival to our departure we could not have asked for better service. Nothing was too much for Sinéad and the staff, who were all lovely. Our room was simply delightful complete with a beach bag with towels if we wanted to go to Sandycove for a swim or a hot water bottle if that was needed. We had a sea view room which overlooked the harbour. The food in Oliveto was fantastic matched by the service of the friendly and attentive staff who served us complementary glasses of bubbly to help us celebrate our anniversary. It is this attention to detail which makes this hotel a total gem. The surrounding area from Seqpoint to Dalkey and the town centre are well worth exploring with lots of people on bikes, walking, sailing etc. Finally, the breakfast is outstanding. As you might have guessed from this review - we will definitely be back.

The ataff was fantastic. Bar and restaurant very nice. The location was good. But the reason i stay at a hotel is fhe room and the room was terrible.

The room itself was ok but the bed was only fairly comfortable. Bathroom was nice size but had a sink with individual hot and cold taps. Supposed to be quaint I supose but its 2024 i would like to wash my hands in warm water not ice cold or scalding hot.

The worst part was the noise however. It seemed as if my nieghbors where in the same room as I. It was terribly loud. My room was near the lift too so i had the noise of peole getting on and off the lift at midnight. The window faced some kind of alley which was also very noisey. Each night i was awakened at least 3 times per night between 22:30 and 02.00.

The room did not have air conditioning which ok but the window did not open either. Well it did open, but less than 1” . The room became very stuffy. And it also smelt like cheap furniture which may have come from the clothes rack.

Overall probanly one of the worst rooms i have had in years and i spend about 12 days a month in hotels.

I am sorry but I would not stay here again unless it was the only choice in the area.

16 of us, all extremely well travelled, stayed at the hotel for 3 nights as we were playing golf at some of the top courses in Dublin. The staff were extremely polite and helpful and the rooms of a good standard. The breakfast is exceptional and I highly recommend the Irish cooked breakfast. We had dinner in the attached restaurant, Olivetto, which requires a booking ans it was packed. Excellent food and, once again, friendly and attentive service by the staff. They did, unfortunately, not bring out the main course of one of our group and he ended up eating his main course well after we’d all finished but they could do no more than apologise and take his meal off the bill. The hotel is in a lovely location overlooking the harbour & I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is about 8km from the racecourse. The railway station is only metres from the hotel. There is no train service to the racecourse, but a bus from the station to Leopardstown runs every 20 minutes according to Dublin bus website.
