This hotel was highly disappointing. The hotel had a very stale smell in the halls, the bathroom in our bedroom had no been cleaned. The sink was filthy. The pillows and blankets smelt like sweat. The car park over charged us and when we discussed this with the lady at receptionist she told us it was not her problem. When we were checking in, the same lady was rude, unprofessional and ignorant to the customers in the queue. The breakfast was disappointing and completely over priced. I had previously stayed here a few years ago and was really looking forward to this stay. I was disappointed and could not wait to get out of the hotel. The floor staff did not care about the people staying.
Hotel was ok, the one thing that really annoyed us and I’m quite thankful for the 2 hour delay we had with our flight because if we got there at 3pm (where it states checkin) our room would have not been ready. Our room wasn’t even ready when we got there at 5:15! What a joke! No explanation on why! However we heard reception telling the family that were sat in the sofas in front of the reception that their room was now ready and the family commented saying why offer late check out if you can’t promise the room will be ready for people at 3pm! Which is true! So I’m assuming it was the same matter for us! We had to wait 15 mins for our room to be ready! So our room was ready 2 hours and 30 mins after what time it should have been! No apology either! Apart from all that. We had a nice stay. The room was lovely and big, few little issues but nothing major - we worked round it! Pillows were lovely and soft! Location was great too! 20/25 min walk to Temple Bar! Was handy for the hotel having a room to leave our bags in after checking out!…
We stayed her recently and have to say we were shocked at how poor the service was you pay quiet a lot for a basic service Girl on reception was quiet rude and not very helpful asked about room service which it states on a sheet in the room to b told we dont do it. On check in wasnt very helpful when asking bout bars and places for food she replied by rudly pointing to there attractions board with saying anything as if im a mind reader..also says late bar everywhere around the hotel theres no late bar. On morning of checking out someone came into our room at 7 didnt even knock and walked back out then at half 9 cleaning lady insisted we leave so she could clean the room check out is 11 we hadnt checked out yet..i feel paying for a room you should be let stay til check out time not forced.. Parking is a disgrace its an underground public car park hotel gives u discount of 2 euro which is nothing on the price of it I would not stay here again or recommend it way better places around dublin cheaper and more convenient and friendlier …
I stayed at the Maldron Smithfield from Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th Dec 2022. What a hotel! Booked it in May and it was a great price. As a group of three young(ish) people, 26yo, 29yo, and an 18yo we absolutely loved it. Breakfast was absolutely FABULOUS - anything you want or can think of for breakfast it's there, it's great quality and you can eat as much of it as you want - we had a full breakfast but even if you just got the continental, I would very much recommend it. Slept like a baby, bed was super comfy, we all sighed and worried when we saw the beds had one pillow each, but turned out we didn't need anything more for a great nights sleep! Very secure too - you need your room key to access the lift, which was annoying but impressive in terms of safety. As well as this if you come back late (we got in at 3am one night) the main entrance is closed and security guard/receptionist lets you in so again, ensures the hotel only has guests in it. Room was super clean and spacious with lots of surfaces to put your things on. Housekeeping comes daily too which, in a pre-covid era, is impressive! Staff all very friendly and extremely helpful. About a 25 min walk into the city centre it's not too far, and to be honest, the area around it is absolutely brimming with great places to go and young people. As a Londoner, it seemed like the 'Shoreditch' of Dublin City; we ended up finding hidden gems such as Token (an arcade game bar) and Frank Ryan's Bar (one of the most interesting little pubs I've ever been to!) all literally around the corner. The bar at the hostel across the road was great too. Location wise it's handy as there's a food shop called Fresh pretty much next to the hotel, the tram stop literally a two/three min walk away, and the bus stop a five minute walk away, with the Dublin express and the hop on/hop off bus tour stopping there as well as normal buses. If I am honest, I really didn't expect to like the hotel this much, and I will definitely be recommending the hotel to friends/family, and staying here next time I visit Dublin!…
We mostly enjoyed staying at this hotel, the location, breakfast, cleanliness and rooms were all good and enjoyable. The only downside was it was very chaotic to check in and rooms were not ready when the check in time came and went. Hopefully that is not a regular occurrence.
Stayed for 2 nights on a horse racing break. i liked the hotel very much. its just a bit further from O'Connell street than i have normally booked but the tram stop is 2 minutes walk. i always walk into the center anyways. That helped me find the Smock Alley Theatre which is about 15 mins away. My hotel room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of options. There is a fresh store next door and bars and cafes also nearby. There is also the Lighthouse cinema a few yards away which was handy for watching a film before my transfer back to the hotel. All the staff i met were very nice and helpful
Stayed here for several nights and throughly enjoyed ourselves. The location itself is pretty good. Walking time go say Guinness store house 15/20 minutes, Temple bar about the same. There is a tramline a short walk away at the end of Smithfield, which can get you around the City. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean. Our room size was perfect for our needs. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide range of options, there is something for everyone. All the staff we encountered were very help and friendly, top marks here. There is a safe in the room but no fridge. If you do need one I think they can supply one. There was no A/C in our room, it was not an issue in early September, would in in the summer months possibly. Must add that the Cobblestone Pub over the road is worth a visit. Local musicians playing and a great atmosphere.…
The Maldron Smithfield is a bit difficult to locate if using GPS but is a lovely location with easy access to most of central Dublin. Our party of four enjoyed our overnight stay. Our room was modern, clean and bright. The balcony gave a view of the city and was across the street from the Jameson Distillery. If you want a late checkout arrange it ahead if time. It was not available when we attempted to get it the morning of departure. All the staff we encountered were efficient, professional and friendly. I would recommend the Maldron Smithfield.
The hotel is nice, staff friendly and quick to help, beds very comfortable but rooms are very warm, no air conditioning, we live in Abu Dhabi so we are used to heat but had to get staff to put a fan in the room just to be able to sleep, leaving window open is impossible because of smokers on balconies, constant road and people noise even on the 5th floor. The constant slamming of the bedroom doors is also a big problem, the room vibrates when any neighbouring room door shuts. Recommend the hotel to the hard of hearing or those that drank to much the night before and can sleep through anything.
I had a great experience at the Maldron Hotel Smithfield! It is situated in a great location in Dublin - just a couple minutes walking distance to Temple Bar and just across from the Jameson distillery. I loved how close it is to the Stoneybatter neighborhood, which has lots of great restaurants and pubs but is less touristy than Temple Bar. The hotel itself is very clean and the room was surprisingly spacious. It was a comfortable resting place after exploring Dublin. The standout for this hotel though is the exceptional customer service. On arrival, were greeted by friendly staff at the reception desk who held our bags until check-in time and gave us great recommendations for nearby activities. Upon leaving and in a rush to get to the airport, I left a bag of valuable/breakable souvenirs in my room! I called the hotel from the airport and was immediately assured that it would be mailed to my home in the U.S. for a reasonable rate. My communications with Robert about this were top notch professional and friendly. I received the package within a week of leaving it there and was pleased to see that Robert had taken extra care to wrap everything up so that it wouldn't be damaged. I am so grateful to Robert and the staff at Maldron Smithfield for their amazing customer service. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and hope to stay again in the future!…
