The Temple Bar Hotel garners praise for its immaculate rooms and the stellar service provided by its staff. However, the vibrant atmosphere, while appreciated by some for its energy, is often marred by the loud music and street noise, a point of contention for guests seeking rest.
The central location is a hit for those looking to explore Dublin by foot, but this prime setting contributes to the noise complaints. While the hotel offers a range of amenities and boasts rigorous cleanliness, the value proposition is questioned by travelers who are taken aback by high prices and additional fees.

Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for 3 nights over a weekend in a quad room. Decent hotel, clean rooms the housekeeping team very friendly and do and excellent job. The receptionist on arrival wasn't the friendliest or the most helpful. A few tourist tips wouldn't have gone amiss or even a friendly chat. The lady when we were checking out was fab, so friendly, shame we didn't have her when we were checking in, her name was Brin.
Location of the hotel is very central which is great, we didn't need the earplugs which they supply as there wasn't any noise. The beds were really comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities in the room as well as bottled water. The umbrella is a nice touch too.
The hotel should state what the actual fee they hold whilst you are there in advance is so you are aware and budget accordingly. On booking.com it only said they may charge you a fee on arrival. The fee is €50.00 and if there are no issues you get it back after a few days from check out. Overall a lovely breakaway in Dublin.

If you don’t mind a bit of noise when walking in, then this is the place to stay. Very close to where tour buses pick up, selection of restaurants and fast food close by. Rooms were very clean and quiet although they do provide you with ear plugs if you are sensitive to noise. I only heard the bar when I was downstair coming in and out of hotel. Staff has been friendly and helpful with questions. I would stay here again when returning to Dublin.

Enjoyed this hotel and the location while visiting Dublin. The staff was super helpful and prompt rescuing my cell phone that fell behind the bed. The room was spotless but small. It didn’t really matter as we spent vey little time there. We really appreciated being able to check our bags before we checked in and after we checked out giving us extra time and ease when exploring the area.

We stayed at the hotel over New Years in December 2021 / January 2022. We booked this hotel due to its central location even though we typically avoid small hotels and prefer large American chains. We made the booking through our airline and the booking in process was fast and efficient. The standard room was very small but for us this was fine as we planned to be out most of the time.
The next morning our plan was to visit the seaside so we asked for help getting there from the front desk. The lady did her best to help but unfortunately her English was poor and we eventually gave up. We eventually made it there but only after help from another trip shop in town.
Due to Covid all bars and restaurants close by 8pm. We drank at the hotel bar once and the experience was great. It's widely used by the public but hotel guest can use it until 10pm, but they turn off the music at 8pm and start putting away a chairs and tables well you try to relax.
We ate breakfast at the hotel once and the experience was average. We chose to eat elsewhere but found that breakfast in the local area was overpriced and off poor quality and taste. Yes we are foodie snobs!
The hotel room was functional but the bed was horrible as were the pillows. We struggled to sleep during the first 2 nights. Due to this we won't stay at the hotel in the future and won't recommend it. The carpets were dusty and the room is desperate for a renovation. The entire hotel is very dated. On the plus side the free wifi is great and fast.
This may seem odd but the toilet paper was the worst. It was the 1ply industrial type and very rough. We ended up buying our own.
The hotel would only service the room if you made an in person request by 11:30am each day. I didn't mind this but each time they serviced your room they provided two bottles of water. If you skipped the room cleaning you didn't get two free bottles of water and would need to buy them.
In the end we found the hotel to be below average and we won't be staying there in the future.

We arrived early morning to be greeted by an extremely grumpy girl on reception. Shen told us our room was ready but we would have to pay extra to get the keys before check-in time. We politely declined and left our bags with the hotel before heading into the city.
Alarm bells started to ring when we spotted ear plugs sitting on our bedside tables but the reality didn't hit until the first night. Temple bar is loud, that goes without saying, but even when the revellers have retired the noise doesn't stop. Our room was on the first floor overlooking the main drag. Opposite is a supermarket (a Tesco Express I believe) that gets deliverers around 5am. The rattling of trollies then goes on for another hour before the taxi drivers arrive at around 6am. I honestly love the Irish accent, but when shouted at full volume in the early hours for at least another hour every morning, it does tend to grate.
This routine happened every night with the one exception of the second night between 3am and 4am the lads in the next (adjoining) room bringing girls back to their room for a party. We complained as did most of the rooms around and eventually someone from reception came up and asked them to move on.
Away from the subject of noise, the photographs of the lovely looking hotel bar are massively misleading. The only bar the hotel has is a public bar come nightclub that can't even be reached via the hotel (there's a door, but it was always locked). At night there's even a bouncer on the door who told us there was no seating inside when there clearly was. When I mentioned that we were staying in the hotel that this was supposed to be the bar of, he claimed I should have said beforehand and offered us one of the many vacant seats that were inside.
One final thing, the breakfast is expensive as is everything in Temple Bar, that said, it really wasn't great, pretty much everything dried out after sitting under heaters for who knows how long.
We chose this hotel based on the great reviews, but honestly, if you value a few restful hours sleep each night, I'd look elsewhere..

Very friendly staff. Always offering their help and looking for solutions to your needs. On the day we arrived
it was very hot in Dublin. The air conditioning did not work and thanks to Bala, they changed us to a superior room with air conditioning without paying any extra charge,
He also invited us for some drinks at the hotel bar. On another occasion they forgot to make the beds and clean the room. Alex who was at the Recepción, personally brought us new towels, water and whatever we told him we needed in the bathroom. He also gave me some chocolates from "Butlers". These details to satisfy the customer are appreciated. Excellent professionals and hotel very well located. On my next visit I will repeat for sure in this hotel!

We have just completed a trip to London, Edinburgh and Dublin. On this trip I elected to select either 5 star or 4 star hotels. In Dublin I selected the Temple Bar Hotel because it was rated a 4 star hotel and located on Fleet St. It absolutely is not a 4 star hotel. We stayed in an Executive King room. I have stayed in a Holiday Inn Express that had better accommodations. The only amenities in the room was a small coffee pot. The bathroom had black mold growing in the grout. The carpet had huge stains in it. There was no room service. There was a breakfast buffet that served the same food offered for free in most hotels in America. Their charge was $18 euros per person. The staff was pleasant but none of the housekeeping staff spoke enough English to ask for a wash rag which had not been left in the room. The hotels we stayed in in London and Edinburgh were 5 star hotels that met or exceeded their ratings. The Temple Bar hotel was a complete let down and in no way deserves a 4 star rating.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Temple Bar Hotel. Great location to get to major sights in Dublin. Very clean hotel with all the amenities and two restaurants on site. Very friendly and helpful staff.
We were offered an early check-in for 30 euros which was greatly appreciated since we arrived mid-morning. The area has a lot of bars but any noise did not bother us in our room and we had our window open. Great value - will stay here again. Thanks!

Great location. Very comfortable beds. Patrick the manager was amazing and treated us like royalty after we had a rough first night. Good breakfast.
My husband and I were initally placed in a room directly above Busker’s bar on the second floor. That night our entire room shook from the bass. I am 28 weeks pregnant with two toddlers at home so my husband and I were very much looking forward to a good night’s sleep which of course we didn’t get (even with the complimentary earplugs). We figured the area would be lively but nothing like this. The next morking we got the “How is your stay going” e-mail from the hotel and in my tiredness I wrote a pretty cranky review. Patrick the manager called me personally later that day to apologise and then gave us the quietest room at the hotel and treated us to free breakfast the rest of the trip.

We loved this hotel and wish we stayed longer. Check in was excellent, complimentary icecream was a nice touch! We were able to check in early which was much appreciated after an early flight. The bed was super comfy and hotel room had everything we needed. We were so happy to stay in the Temple Bar area so we could explore some pubs and enjoy the music. The noise from the streets below didn’t bother us but the hotel does provide free earplugs if needed.
