So the hotel is very nice. It‘s located at the end of the temple bar so it‘s quite busy and even if we had a room that did not face the street there was some noise but not at all bad. From there you are just a few steps away from most of the attractions and restaurants so it‘s very cool. The room was clean and nice and the staff was very friendly.
The location of this hotel is amazing for tourists who wish to enjoy the night life. Rooms are small but the staff are very nice and friendly. We got a welcome gift of chocolates, drinks and crisp! That’s was lovely. There could be drunken guests but overall great experience .
If I could rate 0 stars I would… In all my years of travelling and dealing with hotel bookings, hotel staff and being a lead in Customer Service myself, never have I dealt with a more incompetent, downright rude, “know it all” bunch of staff who clearly do not know the first thing about customer centricity or dealing with an issue in a professional manner. And to top it off, to the hilarious responses from the General Manager on all the complaints on here, “I am disappointed at this review”… well you should be, you and your staff do not know how to run a hotel. Some self reflection wouldn’t go a miss rather than spending your time arguing with people on here. We’ll be taking this higher up than “Patrick” who is just as incompetent as the rest. My friend and I had secured our booking at this hotel for one night for a friends hen do and had flown in from the UK to do so… this was booked through Booking.com with a confirmation email and “confirmed” status via the app. We arrived at the hotel ahead of the check-in time but thought we would see if they could hold our bags for us and potentially check us in early. Safe to say the reception we were welcomed with was not what we had bargained for… We gave the booking reservation name, confirmation number and were told that no booking was on the system and just looked at blankly. So we then proceeded to show the booking on our app to clearly show this was “confirmed” with the correct date showing the correct hotel (oh yes… this was asked to add to the insult even more 😂) At this point we were just told again that the booking did not exist and if we wanted a room we had to pay their going rate for the night which was well over €300, double the price we had secured on booking.com well over a year in advance. We refused to rebook when our booking was clear as day in black and white and tried to explain this really wasn’t our issue. The woman on the front desk (who was clearly training), said she would honour the price and sort the booking as we were not leaving without a room… we had nowhere else to go! Told to come back at 1.30-2pm to check in and pay, we left with our bags in tow and went for lunch to process what had just happened. Not even an hour later we received a phonecall from The “rude Italian” duty manager who is quoted on reviews for this hotel many times (and I can see why!!) and was basically shouted at to be told “YOU CANNOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL, YOUR BOOKING DOES NOT EXIST.” It was that rude we marched straight back to the hotel to take this up with them and understand the need for the attitude… we thought this had been sorted? We walked in and were pointed out rather rudely by the woman who had spoken to us initially to the Italian guy who turned out to the duty manager… who clearly had his heckles up prior to our arrival. We must have argued for about 15 minutes showing him the same documentation and confirmation thorough the app as we did before to be just told “no” on several occasions. In the end we were dismissed with “you ring booking.com and sort it, not my problem”. This guy did not care that two women would be left stranded without a place to stay which was rather upsetting to say the least. We managed to get through to booking.com who (low and behold!) confirmed our booking and asked us to stay on hold whilst she rang the hotel… we were sat watching the front desk as the phone rang and the Italian guy asked the woman to dial it through to the back office and then pointed as us (basically to say he didn’t want to have the discussion in front of us… another big slap in the face) After about 45 minutes of being on hold we were told the hotel were honouring the price as the booking had in fact been made and we should be sorted. We were signalled over the desk (strike 500 of rude)… a piece of paper with our booking on and a pen was slammed on the desk, and we were asked to sign and money was demanded from us right away… No “sorry about the issues” or “apologies for the confusion”, just a “pissed off” face for the inconvenience with a comment of “what a waste of my time”. Very long story short, we got a room. Not four star by anyones standard, noisy with no air con and a broken fan… but at this point we were just glad we had a place to stay so it wasnt even worth going to battle complaining after that experience. On check out we handed our keys back and were greeted by the Italian guy again who had to say one last sly remark of “oh yes I remember… 35 cents a night people” 😂 I mean, how has this guy not been sacked? A total shambles. Save your money and your nerves……
Gorgeous hotel but unfortunately extremely rude staff with poor customer service!! I booked this hotel for me and a friend via Booking.com over 6 months ago - all confirmations sent through ready to travel this weekend from the UK. We arrived at this hotel to be told there was no booking under our name - although we had a clear confirmation via booking.com. We were then told that if we wanted to stay here we would have to pay an additional 120 euros ! The trainee hotel receptionist was the only one manning check ins at this point - after much deliberation and conversation, she placed us in the only room available at the agreed original rate of 161 euros, which we were obviously relieved about as we were here for a friends hen party for one night only and were booked in for activities during the day. We were asked by the trainee to come back around 4pm once we had finished our first part of the planned day to pay for the hotel and check in. An hour after the situation appeared to be sorted I received an extremely RUDE phone call from the deputy manager shouting down the phone at me telling me the agreement in place would not be happening and that we were 'absolutely not ' staying in their hotel unless we paid the higher price - again - back to square one through no fault of our own. We had to leave the group activities to sort the mess out - we were told when we arrived that it wasn't their problem and was our job to call booking.com to provide proof of booking to the hotel. We did just that and booking.com confirmed exactly the same as we did - they called the hotel to discuss and argued our case for an hour before everything was resolved!! We missed a huge chunk of our day and as the room keys were being exchanged we were told by the managers and receptionist that this problem arises with booking.com and their hotel on a regular basis - that 'we shouldn't have booked using that platform' and that again, it really wasn't their problem. We're obviously very happy the problem was eventually resolved so we had a roof over our heads for the night BUT we missed a huge chunk of a very important day to us - even if the communication was poor between the hotel and booking.com platform - the way we were spoken to and messed around was extremely unprofessional and rude when it certainly wasn't a fault on our behalf. My review is based on this - the hotel doesn't appear to have a great relationship with the booking.com platform so beware of booking this way - you won't be met with reassuring or friendly faces trying to help you if anything goes wrong - in my opinion - customer service training is WELL needed - manners cost nothing and to be spoken down to the way we were was very condescending indeed. These things can of course happen, but there is absolutely no excuse to make the situation worse than it needs to be! Beware of booking this hotel unless it's direct - they clearly can't manage a relationship between a 3rd party platform.…
It's August and Dublin had a slight heat wave and humidity. We were placed in a family-size room in the back and those rooms do not have Air Conditioning. We were offered a fan and the bathroom was old and had broken parts. If you need wifi forget this hotel's sub-par wifi; very spotty! We requested a room with AC and a view of the vibrant street but was told out that weekend and was promised by rude Philip (Italian with an attitude ) clearly he doesn't belong in the service industry. Under the slightest pressure such as a simple request or inquiry, he has an attitude. We request a refund for our 5-night stay which they denied placing the blame on Booking.com. We purchase a room for one night at the Hilton with AC and speedy wifi. They promise an immaculate room for us on Monday for the next three nights at the front of the street. We arrive and Patrick the manager does his best to give us a great room. As he leads us to the room one of his front desk clowns passes our room to another, guest! We unlock the room to a scream of a new occupant. We wait another hour for a room with AC to be clean and when we step in the AC is dripping the rig is soaked!! Patrick gives his apologies but is unable to repair it. We leave for the full day and arrive back after dinner to the dripping sounds of the AC leaking at a fast pace now!! The wifi is dead!! My husband requests Philip access to VIP wifi and Philip explains the wifi is not working and it's a server problem that he is working on but can't give us VIP access! In the meantime, we try to sleep with the drip! drip and by morning we are sure to have a fully soaked carpet! Mold anyone????…
Terrible hotel. Location is fine, if you don’t mind the very loud nights of course, however: Most rooms don’t have air conditioning (those with it are leaking water), the bathrooms are outdated, the WiFi is at best times very weak/slow but regularly shuts down completely for hours at a time. And worst is the staff that’s obviously overwhelmed by the complaints, with one named Philip that’s totally rude. The Manager Patrick Sullivan seems to be doing his best to navigate this sinking boat but this is a Titanic you shouldn’t join!
Stayed at this hotel on a long weekend with my family. Location was an 11/10, but given its proximity to all the bars it was very quiet which was a huge plus. Clean rooms. Friendly staff. Would recommend this to friends and would stay here again.
Room was clean and updated BUT room we got was so warm ,1 window can not open all the way, there is electric fan But room is still feels very warm, not able to sleep the whole night Bathroom is clean and updated Location is excellent BUT BUT BUT NO AIRCON DISAPPOINTED When we came it happened the weather is hot , I did not expect that there was no aircon cause I stayed here before and I remember We got aircon at that time Tried to request but there’s no room available
Hotel is perfectly located to explore Dublin. Restaurant Bar served the best pasta. The only complaint I have is that the room we were allocated didn't have air-conditioning . It was very hot especially at night. Other than that no complaints. Would stay again if room was airconditioned
Lovely staff & hotel right in the centre of Temple Bar. Bathrooms could use updating. It was hard to sleep at night because of the noise outside but that is because of the location and not the hotels fault.
