Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed at the Paliament Hotel on 08/28/03 on the night before we left Ireland. The hotel was perfectly adequate and would stay there again. The room was quite large compared to others in Ireland and was neat and clean. The bathroom was small but also clean. The staff working at the front desk were pleasant and very helpful. We were leaving too early to have the included breakfast so they made sure that there was coffee, juice, and toast ready for us in the lobby at 6:30 AM. They also directed us to a great Italian restaurant near by. The one thing which is both a neagative and a positive is the location. It has a downtown location near Temple Bar and a few minutes walk to Grafton Street which was quite nice for getting around. But once we made it from the pubs back to our room, the street noise was a little loud and woke me several times during the night. I recommend requesting a room on the higher floors away from the main street.

After reading some of the negative reviews about this hotel we were a little worried if we had made the right choice of hotel as we booked our hotel before reading this site. Upon arrival we discovered that we had someone else's luggage. Immediately, without even requesting this, the receptionist was onto Ryan Air at Dublin airport to try and sort this out. The staff could not have been more helpful to us. The room was excellent, it looked freshly decorated and it was clean. Maybe the only thing we would have complained about with this room was that there was no extractor fan working in the bathroom which caused a few steamy moments!! We overlooked the main road and we agree that the room was little noisy with all the traffic going by but you must expect this if you are going to stay in a busy area of a city. It did quieten down towards midnight and did not keep us awake. We felt it added to the charm of staying in the Temple Bar area of Dublin and enjoyed watching the world go by. If you want peace and quiet then maybe dont stay in the city centre because no hotel here will be completely without noise of some description. The breakfast was served fast and was of really high quality. Plenty to eat here with no chance of not finding something to suit all tastes. The dining room staff attended to you immediately as you sat down. We definately will return to this hotel again and would wholeheartedly recommend it.

having read some reviews on this site just before we left for Dublin we were feeling rather deflated and almost in dread of what we might find at this hotel. However i have to say we were absolutely over the moon. As soon as you walk in the door you feel welcome and accommodated. The rooms are very spacious and and cleaned daily. The food offered downstairs at the bar is absolutely wonderful very large portions and cooked to order. We ate at the hotel 5 out of the 6 days we were there.
After seeing what the hotel was like we couldnt help feel rather angry towards the people who gave it such bad reviews. At the end of the day this hotel is 3 star and quite cheap...however the standards of this hotel is high and you will get excellent value for money. so dont worry about the other reviews...i had a wonderful time!!!

My husband and I traveled with two friends to the Parliament in July 2006. We arrived at the Dublin airport in the early afternoon and took the bus into the city. We found the Parliament with little problem and it's location was a nice base for the rest of the day. We checked in and found we both had rooms facing the street. Be sure to ask for rooms facing the back, especially if it's summer and you want to open your windows because there's no air conditioning. That's probably the one down side to the hotel. That evening we had drinks in the bar which was the picture of your typical Irish pub. The breakfast in the morning was excellent--you get both continental (cereals, juice, rolls/croissants, fruit, yogurt) and full Irish (eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms, tomato) along with tea/coffee. More than enough to fill you up for the morning. Check out was quick and easy. Overall I would recommend this hotel for people looking in the price range.

My wife and I stayed at the Parliament Hotel in Dublin for 3 days at the beginning of July. We booked this hotel via Expedia.ca as we have had great success in using Expedia for our yearly travels to Europe and the United Kingdom.
During our stay at the Parliament Hotel in Dublin Ireland, we placed 3 overseas calls to family in Canada. Our normal process for making overseas calls to Canada is to dial direct by keying in 0 001 area code and phone number. At the Parliament Hotel we came across a card next to the phone outlining their process for making overseas calls. Their process was to go directly to a credit card option which put us in touch with an operator who took our credit card information and put the call through.
After our stay in Dublin, we travelled to Belfast, Rome, Florence and London and in each location, we were able to follow our normal process of dialling direct. Upon our arrival back home, we were astounded to see the charges on our credit cards for the calls placed during our stay at the Parliament Hotel in Dublin. An example and comparison for you: 2 minute call to Canada using the process outlined at the Parliament Hotel cost US$39.91 and the same call for the same duration made in Belfast and in Italy cost US $4.50.
We have called our Credit Card Company to lodge a complaint and have been advised that this particular phone company being used by Hotels abroad is indeed atrocious and they are charging far too much money for a normal overseas call. Our credit card company advised us that they get dozens of calls daily about this company.
We have since done our own on line investigation about this company and the complaints and stories are very similar to ours.
We called the company directly to complain and was told they would be willing to knock off some of the charges PROVIDING we did not lodge an official complaint.

We went to this hotel for Thnaksgiven and service was great. We followed someones advise and requested a room facing the back of the hoetel to avoid the noises of the avenue. We had a defective bathroom so they changed our room the next day. Service was great, everyone very helpfull and accomodating. Breakfast was best I had (included in the price), you can choose from a traditional Irish breakfast (not my favorit) or a buffet full with fruit, juices, cereals, breads, cheeses and hams (all in plural since it had a great selesccion). The bus from the airport stops 2 block away, and you are walking distance from everything!!! We did not have to take a cab or a bus to any place. So like they say...location,location, location. I would defenetly come again!!
PS...some people just complain for the heck of it!!

Was A little worried after reading some of the reviews of this hotel, but was nicely surprised. Better than expected, and will definitley stay again! Great location, walked to ChristChurch, St. Patricks, Temple Bar, Grafton St., and Guiness Brewery. Small rooms, but to be expected in europe. Really huge bath tub, great staff, and awsome complimentary breakfast make the stay great!Dublin is NOT cheap, this hotel is a wonderful value.Be sure to try Queen of Tarts, great pasteries, and make international phone calls at internet place on corner of Dame street and Temple district, cheaper than hotel.

Having just returned from a three night (Mon/Tues/Weds) break at the Parliament Hotel, I felt I should share my opinions with those of you who may wish to stay at this establishment.
Four of us (two couples in our early fifties) booked this short break without having previously read the comments posted on this site. However, having read the comments before travelling, it was with some trepidation that we continued with the booking.
Our first impression was one of pleasant surprise. The foyer and reception desk was welcoming and the staff were polite and accommodating.
We were allocated two double rooms on the first floor at the front of the hotel. The rooms were clean and well furnished, but the en-suite bathrooms were poorly maintained and in need of redecoration.
The comments previously posted regarding excess noise are entirely accurate. The problem was predominantly caused by heavy traffic using the main road which passes immediately in front of the hotel. This noise only seemed to decrease during the small hours (bet. 1.30am and 6.0am).
To complicate matters, the evenings during our stay were warm and it would have been preferable to leave the window open, but that was impossible due to the noise.
There was a little noise from 'rowdyism' but this was not excessive and frankly should be expected given the hotels proximity to Temple Bar.
Despite all my comments about the noise, we did not feel it necessary to seek a room change (the rear of the hotel was extremely quiet) and we put up with the noise.
Breakfast was perfectly adequate and our small sample of the evening meals at the hotel was excellent.
We did not experience any of the previously reported problems of staff noise, smoke filled corridors/rooms, etc.
In summary, the hotel location was excellent for all the sights (and sounds!!!) of Dublin. It is in need of a little TLC, and basic dusting/polishing would improve the look.
The traffic noise was a serious problem and I would advise you insist on a room at the rear of the hotel if you want a decent nights sleep.
All in all, good value for money if you get a good deal pricewise, as we did.

Ideal for a long weekend away, my girlfriend and I enjoyed a 3 night stay at the Parliament in November 2005 and would indeed strongly recommend it and stay there again.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION...
The over-riding benefit of the Parliament is it's location. It's a swift 10 minute walk to the excellent shopping on Grafton Street and a spritely 5 minute walk to Temple Bar for a night out and food (I'd recommend the chicken wings at Elephant & Castle or the calzone at Bad A-- cafe). Airport bus links (12 euro return) at Trinity College and O'Connell Street (along the river) are both handy and convenient, even with a suitcase, although you will need a map if approaching from ther River side (as Parliament is hidden away in a few back streets). The Guiness Storehouse is a brisk 15 minute walk but immediate local attractions include Christ Church Cathedral and Dublin Castle (not a big loss if you miss it really though)!
ROOM WITH A VIEW?
The standard double room, if a little on the small side, was typical of what you would expect of a city hotel with a spotlessly clean bathroom, small TV, coffee maker and a proper double bed (the latter, a real treat given the tendency for twin beds in cities across Europe!).
There's been a few comments on here about road noise, but its nothing more than you would expect from a hotel on a main city road... the reinforced windows do shut out a lot of the hustle and bustle and you do get a good nights sleep even when the odd city bus pulls up opposite as the pubs shut...Not a big concern even for light sleepers!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT...
Breakfast was ample and warm, served in good, quick time with a small buffet choice and offer of a cooked breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful (but not overly)whilst reception/foyer staff were well organised and on hand for baggage reclaim, questions etc.
IF I COULD OFFER YOU ONE PIECE OF ADVICE THEN...
Trust me the lift up from the foyer is a little suspect and feels a bit shaky on landing...take the stairs - they are not steep, its healthy and it works off the Irish Breakfast or odd pint of the black stuff you have tucked into during the day...

Very helpful and courteous staff. Decor and ambiance as expected at the price, and sited at the heart of Dublin's night life. A 15 minute walk to the Brazen Head, then finish your evening at the Porter House (----) just around the corner from the hotel for live music and a range of exclusive craft-brewed stouts and other beers.

There was a trouser press in the room. You might be able to ask for an iron and ironing board at reception.
No parking is very difficult.
We were there in July and hadn't noticed any refurb
our room had not been refurbished but it was nice and clean could not fault it at all
TheSecretDiner asked a question Sept 2016
Coastal South Carolina, South Carolina100 contributions33 helpful votesAny chance the hotel has a shuttle to the airport? If not, what would a taxi cost?
I'm pretty sure that the airport bus stops quite close to the hotel as the ferry bus does, my advice would be to email the hotel ,as the receptionist's are all very helpful, hope this helps
