Detailed Reviews
First thing to say about this hotel is that it undergoing some major refurbishment, though that had no influence on our stay as we were not disturbed by the work. I put that first as an attempt to explain some of the negative reviews on here. We stayed for three nights and were given a refurbished room. The room was small, clean and comfortable. What more can you ask for a budget hotel right in the centre of a capital city?
That brings me to the second thing. This hotel is superbly located. You are surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants, but we were not disturbed by noise. The Irish Gift Shop below plays music till nine o'clock, but even us oldies don't go to bed that early. If that is what you want to do, why go to Dublin?
Dublin itself is a typical capital city, being busy and cosmopolitan. It is also astonishingly friendly and welcoming. The Central is, as you guessed, Sherlock, right in the middle of the city. Maybe 300m from the iconic Post Office, and very convenient for tram stops and the mainline station, Connolly. We bought a Leap Card at the airport, which for a few € a day gives you unlimited public transport. Don't miss this bargain. We used it to get around the city, but also to explore the area around: going to the lovely seaside places af Bray and Howth.
The staff are unfailingly helpful and friendly, and I highly recommend the breakfast served from 0800 to 1000. A buffet feast that can get you through the day, with the help of the odd Guinness, of course. There is also free coffee all day, but the quality reflects the price here! Not the best.
Another moan might be that the TV didn't work, but that was probably because workmen had trashed the satellite dish, but you don't come to Dublin to watch TV. Set your expectations at the right level - this is a budget hotel - and you will be very pleased. We would book again, without doubt.

We booked this hotel with a travel agency. It’s a great location surrounded by some good kebab takeaway shops.
For the price we payed it was a great stay for only 2 nights. Staff were friendly the manager I believe- answered all my questions about transport and gave us a map which he marked with all the nearest transport points.
The hotel let us leave our bags before we checked in (check in at 2 we got there at 8) and let us leave them when we checked out (check out half 10 we picked them up at 6 in the afternoon).
The room was a decent size , don’t see the point in having a room any bigger. The bathroom, however, was falling part and The shower would go cold then hot. The bathrooms definitely need a refurb asap, that’s the only fault I can give this hotel.
Great for price and location.

We stayed here for 3 nights and found the hotel to be a great base to explore the city. We couldn't believe how easy it was to walk to Trinity College, Temple Bar or to any of the shopping areas in 15 mins or less. The airport bus was only a 5 minute walk away.
The breakfast was really delicious with a lot to choose from, and the staff were always very friendly and helpful whenever we had a question.
Also serious bonus points to the great decor and fabulous bathroom we had in our room, the late check out options and for the team holding our bags so we could go for one more walk before heading to the airport.
The only thing I would fault is that if you have a central hotel, the noise can be hard to deal with. We were on the first floor, and it's above the Irish gift shop so the constant loud music and advertising, and hearing people march past the room took a bit of getting used to. Thankfully by the time you needed to sleep, it was nice and quiet.

On our short trip in Dublin we stayed at the Central Inn for one night. It is located very central and is a good starting place to explore the city. We parked our car in the parking garage (Q-Park the spire) about 5min by foot from the hotel. The hotel provides a discount card for the stay, but expect to pay 25+ Eur for 24h. The hotel also has a few free parking spots at the hotel, so worth to check with them.
The rooms and bathrooms were basic and quite small, but clean and ok. The staff was friendly. We liked the breakfast, with a nice room, a good selection and very good organized (seated, and staff really cleans up quickly)

Nice rooms, spacious and new, clean and cared for. Very poor restaurant and setting by MC Donald. Comfortable mattresses, equipped with hairdryer, iron, TV, air conditioning and bathroom facilities. Recommended absolutely. Very close to the center.

The shower was absolutely terrible, didn’t feel clean for 5 days because of it.
Tried getting a refund/compensation but the hotel are not responding so I would forget about it.
Wouldn’t return here because if there’s something wrong/not working then you won’t get compensation.

Hello George, Thank you for taking the time in posting your feedback. Regarding the refund as you booked via groupon who we do not work with directly your reservation was received via a third party website. I have sent you numerous emails on the refund as its not the hotel who process the refund .I had contacted the website on your behalf to have the refund processed as you paid to groupon . This was confirmed to you via email as its not true part of your review saying the hotel did not respond when I have a trail of emails on this matter to you and also my emails to the third party website . In light of your email informing the hotel if you did not receive a refund you would post this review on Trip Advisor,. Thank you for affording me the opportunity in addressing your feedback and I do hope you enjoy the two nights which groupon are refunding. Kind Regards, Patrick Carney General Manager.

Our hotel was very central and convenient. We are 3 star people, so we got what we paid for. The room was basic, clean, small, with spartan decor. A free safe was provided, free toiletries, a tea tray. Downstairs, there was a little lounge with reams of tourist information, complimentary tea and coffee, a smoking area. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even helped us print out our Ryan Air tickets, as we did not have any way to do so. We are so grateful for their assistance. A little treat dish on the counter. They kept our luggage for us until checkin. They go the extra mile. I would love to stay here again. Hint...ask for a room on Talbot, if you want to look out the window. Also, no fridge.

As always great stay in the Dublin Central Inn for our Xmas trip in Dec. The rooms were always lovely and clean but are fantastic since the refurb - so much extra space. Great location for walking around and shopping. Endless choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants on your doorstep. Amazing staff who can't do enough for you. Great facilities. Defin include the breakfast - loads of choice to suit everyone. I wouldn't go anywhere else when staying in Dublin now.
