Rooms were spacious and spotless. Location is great if you're there to party but is noisy otherwise. Only problem we had was one night the bar and restaurant was closed due to a private function. This could have been advertised as ruined our plans for the evening. Restaurant was fully booked the following night so couldn't eat then either.

Thanks for taking the time review The Clarence. On the night in question the bar had a private booking for 45 minutes and during this time we provided bar service in The Study, located beside reception. There was also the option of the full restaurant menu being served in the same area for anyone wishing to dine. It is however...

The Clarence is in the Heart of Dublin, right in front of the Temple Bar area. The staff was excellent and their service impeccable. The rooms are large and roomy. The location is ideal and not far to visit all of Dublin's attractions.

I'm glad to read that you enjoyed your recent stay at The Clarence and it's a pleasure to read such words as "excellent" and "impeccable" in relation to the team here. We hope that if you have the opportunity to visit Dublin again you'll stay here for an equally enjoyable time.

They say that the staff make or break it and it is very true. The hotel is lovely but the staff are fab. They were nothing short of amazing. The first night we were in there was a loud function below us and when I complained about the noise they immediately gave us keys to another room to sleep in....

Sidewalk area in front of hotel not very clean. Staff was great, they were helpful with location of things we wanted to see. Room was clean and spacious. The maid service kept the room clean and supplied all our needs during our stay.

Thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay at The Clarence. I'm glad to read you enjoyed your room, and with regard to the sidewalk, our concierge team tend to this several times a day and it is unfortunate that littering can be an issue which in a split second can result from a very clean sidewalk to...

Hotel location is great, close to many pubs and restaurants. On weekends the noise level is high for sleeping. Our room overlooked a garage bar! Rooms were neat and clean and the hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. I would stay again, maybe not on weekends.

Thanks for your recent weekend stay here at The Clarence. It's a pity to read your stay was impacted upon by the noise from nightlife venues external to the hotel. It's great your kind words about the team here and to know you would stay here again. We look forward to welcoming you back on that occasion.

Clarence has all the uniqueness of a modern hotel while it graces its past with many elements or interior referring back to its establishment in 1852. Apparently, Clarence at one stage of its history belong to U2. The room amenities, well lit corridors and the free wifi were well appreciated while the restaurant and the basement bar were an excellent...

After a long trip around Ireland we decided to spoil ourselves at The famous 'Clarence', unfortunately it is not the same place anymore and is pretty run down. For the price I would have expected more.

I'm disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your recent stay at The Clarence and that you feel the hotel is run down. While yes it is 20 years since the last major renovation we have found that some people love this hotel's simple charm, but it is not to the liking of everyone. Our team here are our...

Charming hotel with good food - but unfortunately didn´t deliver what was promised (a quiet room). If the noise from the street won´t get to your sleep - the noise from the parties in the hotel will... In the end we had no choice but to checkout to get some sleep elsewhere.

Thanks for taking the time to review The Clarence following your stay with us. It's very unfortunate that the noise on that particular night made it a less than satisfactory stay for you both. Your positive comment on the charm of the hotel is appreciated and I will pass your compliments regarding the food on to Cleaver East.

The hotel itself is located in an excellent location in the heart of the city. Easy access to airport, restaurants, pubs, bars, shopping and the sights. Clean rooms and friendly staff. I found the breakfast very average for what the price was. Overall, a reasonable hotel.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Clarence boasts fifty bedrooms and suites, along with our world famous Penthouse Suite. Our rooms range from Classic through Deluxe and on to our River View and Garden Terrace Suites. Our furnishings are simple: classic Shaker oak, beds dressed in cool white linen, sitting elegantly in contrast to a palate of vibrant cardinal colours, rich drapes and luxe carpets. We aim to provide all the simple needs of our guests and we offer 'round the clock room service and all rooms have complimentary WiFi as standard. Our city centre location means car space is at a premium, but we do have a small underground car park that can be reserved for a small nightly supplement. It is also worth noting that our location does mean that the area can be lively at night, especially at the weekends and while we have taken every effort to reduce noise, it is not possible to block it all out. Please do consider this before booking. Within the hotel complex there are many drinking and dining experiences, from the chilled out bliss of The Study to the super stylish Octagon Bar, the perfect spot for an afternoon cocktail or a laid back nightcap. We also have Michelin star chef Oliver Dunne's Cleaver East restaurant within our walls and we are very proud that Oliver and his team provide all catering at the hotel, so whether it's a late night bite in your room or a Full Irish breakfast the next morning, you know your food will be of the highest standard, made from the freshest produce, closely cared for by Michelin starred hands. In the bowels of our building you will find the luxurious cocktail and food bar The Liquor Rooms, home to Dublin's arts set and the first ROI bar ever to be nominated in the prestigious Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards. On our first floor, overlooking the River Liffey lies The Cleaver East Suite at The Clarence, which can be reserved for special occasions, from large weddings to intimate business meetings. ... more   less
