Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the best hostel you'll find. There's no horrible deal breakers that will make you never want to stay here again. It's relatively clean and well maintained. It's solid all around. Very satisfied.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Abigail’s Hostel in Dublin! The location of this hostel can’t be beat- just off of O’Connell street along the River Liffey. Many pubs, restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, and public transport are in the immediate area. Additionally, the hostel felt extremely safe, with two secure doors to go through prior to making it to the dorm hallways, as well several staff members in the lobby area at all times. Our six-bed ensuite room was extremely comfortable with all six people present. Our room was clean, and we were happy to see that it was clear all linens are changed between guests. The lockers were larger than expected, and each bed had a shelf, light, and outlet. If you need additional storage there are rentable lockers, as well as a free luggage storage room in the lobby area. Beyond the room itself, the communal lounge area was bright and clean, and had a good mix of tables and couches. During our stay there was quite a mix of guests, ranging in age from teenagers to retirement age. The crowd at Abigail’s was friendly, and the staff did a great job of placing roommates in a similar age range as the others in the room. The few drawbacks that we had- there are several bus stops immediately outside of the hostel, which often led to crowds of people blocking the doorway. If your room is on the back side of the building the night time crowd in the alleyway is very loud; bring your earplugs. A small stool in the bathroom would have been wonderful! There was room to add one in our ensuite bathroom, and without it you were often left leaving your clothing on the toilet or floor when showering.

Stay away from this place If you want sleep quite and well. The organization is totally out of control. They reserved me bed already reserved to other people! I go to bed, at 2:00 a.m. a drunk girl wake me up to leave her bed, because that was HER bed. I spent my night on the reception sofa! They did it twice. A friend of mine get the same situation. Just totally anarchy. Unbelievable

I recently stayed here after a trip to the Balkans; my flight home was out of Dublin, so I was spending a few nights in Ireland. Now I know Ireland is going to be much more expensive than, say Greece, but I am rating this based on value for dollar (or Euro in this case). And honestly, they could either do better, or charge less. The hostel is quite large, which isn’t an issue for me, but it feels quite institutional and lacks any warmth to it. You need to pass through hordes of people waiting for the bus to get in the front door, and then you need to be buzzed in (even if you are checked in and have a key) to reach the common area. Upon my arrival, the people at the front desk were rather cold, and I got a “what do you want?” vibe from them (the guy at customs was far friendlier than these two!). Not all people I dealt with at the front desk were like this, just the first two I encountered (others were much friendlier, but first impressions matter). The rooms were clean enough, and there were two toilets and two showers in each of the 12-person dorms. Oh yeah, they charge you extra for towels (for 40 Euros a night, you can afford to provide a towel to the guests!). Each bunk had its own plugs to charge your devices, so that was a plus. The location can’t be beat though; right on the river (my second dorm room had a great view of the river), right in Temple Bar, minutes away from Trinity College. Bottom line, my biggest complaint is that I didn’t feel I got good value for what I spent. Yes, I have stayed in much worse, but I had recently stayed in far better for half the price.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a 3 bed room. Hostel was clean, and staff were friendly and helpful. Luggage room was a life saver for me as I could leave my things there before I checked in and after I checked out so I could still explore the city. Would definitely stay there again, especially for the price.

It’s cheap, and in a good location - lots of bars and restaurants, and only about a 30 min walk from the Guinness Storehouse. The staff is nice. However, this place is dirty. The bathrooms are so moldy and there were hairs all over our beds. I would rather spend the extra money to get a place in a similar location with less mold and grime.

Great location, but beside that don't recomend, cause it is very dirty and extremely noisy. People shouting, running and slaming doors with no intervention of the staff to quiet them down. The staff was quite nice at the frontdesk.

Bathroom very dirty with layers of mold on showers and surrondind area. The beds are awful you can't sit up in the lower bunks. The only reason it got 2 stars was the location was good and the staff were nice. I would not reccomend staying here for more than 1 night and even then if you're not going to shower or stay in rooms much. Will give credit to a nice-ish lounge. Also from my experince it was a bit of a party hostel

I already posted this review on booking.com and google, but think it is important to share it on every platform. 1st day: · we checked in at 2pm, with a nice staff that explained everything. We got a 10 person-room, non-mixed, on the last floor. · when we arrived in the room, we took a shower, and found the bathroom in this condition: hair in the shower, dirty bathroom floors, mold on the ceiling and a clutched sink. Furthermore, one toilet and bathroom for 10 people is very little, and the fact that the toilets are IN the bathroom makes it kind of hard to actually live all-together. · There was also hair in the clean sheets, which were definitely not mine, since I'm bald, and those were long and black. · during the night, a woman entered our room looking for her bed - mind all the 10 beds were already occupied, and there was no other available in the room - and the clothes she had left in the morning. She was Italian and didn't speak English, but hopefully one of us spoke Italian. Apparently the staff had removed her things, while she still had a reservation. A member of the staff (male, in a 10 women-only bedroom, while we were all sleeping in our underwears) to come back with her in our room 5 consecutive times - mind it was 1 in the morning - obviously lost as what to do with this situation, since all of us, including the woman, had a booking in the room. So, 11 people in a 10 people bedroom. We ended up having only 3 hours of sleep, as we had to wake up at 5 the following day. The employee didn't give us any explanation or apologise. She had a key, which really terrorised us, because if she had a key, it means the reception really has no idea of who is in the hostel, and who sleeps where. 2nd day: · We complained at reception about the condition of the room and what happened the night before. The lady was nice and apologised but basically told us to speak to the manager the day after because he wasn't in, without giving us any information about what happened or any solution. . Our cards also decided to stop working randomly (even though we were careful not to put them next to our phones to try and not demagnitised them), so we had to go to reception and ask for them to change them. 3rd day: · We complained to the manager, who told us it wouldn't happen again and said the bathroom would be clean (after 2 days). About the Italian woman situation, the manager explained that she had booked the room for only a week and apparently didn't know her reservation had ended, so everything belonging to her had been taken out of the room. She then asked the receptionist at night for the key, so that she could get her stuff back, and then tried to stay to sleep (?). So anyways, a really weird and disturbing situation, as they let a person enter our room in the middle of the night without checking her records. · The bathroom was cleaned, and the sink uncloged, which was a good point. 4th day · We were glad to finally leave the hotel, and found out that it was really easy to just keep the key after leaving, since they don't check themselves, which make us believe the woman actually kept her key and tried to stay for one more night without anyone of the staff knowing. Overall the hostel was not clean, the staff was not that helpful, the common room is really small, as is the kitchen, and the security is really lacking. The only good points might be the location (in the middle of the Temple Bar area), the view from the room (although we had all the seaguls in the world crying all night at our window) and the cheap price, but I really don't think it is worth it regarding of the bad aspects. We were really disapointed.
