Really comfortable rooms and bed! Well furnished, warm rooms and a decent hot shower. 2 minute walk to the town. The Blas cafe does good quality food too. Brilliant place to stay - I’d definitely go back here.

We booked the Gateway Lodge for a short break and were delighted with the stay from the moment we arrived! Nervous about travelling during Covid-19 the Lodge was spotless and the staff could not have been more helpful. There is plenty of parking and Donegal town is just a short walk. Our room was huge and even better than the beautiful photos. We chose the vegetarian breakfast in Blas which we are both still talking about. I could not recommend The Gateway Lodge highly enough and cannot wait to visit again and stay for longer. Mir & Dave.

Had the most enjoyable stay at the Gatelodge. The check in receptionist was very professional and helpful. Couldn't do enough for us to make us feel welcome. Even rang and booked a table for us in a local italian restaurant which by the way was fantastic. Our room was spotless with a spacious bathroom. Tea and coffee facilities in room very welcome. Beautiful towels which were soft and spotless. Breakfast was a dream with lots of choices. Food tasted lovely and presented with love and care. Obviously great thought has gone into the varied menu. You definitely won't rise from the table hungry. Plenty of tea and coffee and extra toast.Just ask. Nothing too much trouble. Again staff were so helpful and polite without being intrusive. On check out the owner himself Craig was on reception and was so friendly. The whole ambience of the Gatelodge just made us feel so welcome. Our only regret we were only there for one night but we will definitely be back for longer next time. Can't wait.

Stayed here for the Aug BH weekend. Sarah in reception was excellent and a font of knowledge for places to go and see. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety to choose from. I would say The Blas breakfast sets you up for the whole day, and the pancakes are amazing too. We asked for ice in the afternoon to have drinks which we bought prior to coming to the hotel due to COVID-19 restrictions as the restaurant closes at 1700 . As always reception staff would get glasses and ice. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. You can ask for towels to be changed whenever you like so there are no dramas there. The pubs in the town require you to buy food for 9 euro each if you want to drink inside this also applies to beer gardens, so unlike NI you can sit and drink outside without having to buy food unless you go into the premises. All in all I would recommend staying here as it is a short 2min walk into the town, the staff are friendly and courteous and food is excellent , with plenty of free car parking space.

We booked to stay at the Gateway Lodge last minute and it was just perfect!! Our room was beautiful and I would highly recommend getting the breakfast in the Bla’s restaurant- it was amazing and super value for money! The Lodge is quiet and peaceful and a 4min walk away from Donegal town. Only things I would suggest would be complimentary water bottles for the room/ iron in the room would be useful too. We also just had hand soap in the shower, but the shop was 2mins away, so we were able to buy some shower gel for the room! We will definitely be back!😊

Hi Megan, We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and your breakfast in Blas. Thank you for your suggestions. Your comment about the shower gel had us surprised as we do supply body wash in all rooms so we checked and it was in fact shower gel in a hand wash labelled bottle. We are so sorry for the confusion. It is a pity that you didn't bring it to the attention of a member of staff, we would have happily given you a fresh bottle and saved you a trip to the shop! We do have irons and ironing boards available for guest use which can be brought to the rooms on request by calling reception. This is on the guest information in the rooms. Thank you also for your other suggestion about water bottles in the rooms. Normally we would have a vending machine available to guests but with the Covid-19 guidelines, we are not able to stock it at the moment. Again, if you had mentioned this to any staff member, we would have happily provided a fresh jug of water for the room. We do appreciate all your feedback as it does help us to see where improvements can be made. We hope you will come back to stay again in the future. Kind Regards, The Gateway Lodge
